debug problem? and still out of memory problem
it seems to me from my rummaging around that fh must build their own lua5.1.dll (in my case, windows 10, fh6.7.2, 16MB memory) I have a huge table. as I build it, finished in the program, in debug it shows: _famOBJ table(#3171, .3029) I can look at the table. Now, lets say I rebuild it (I have compl...

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees
miketate, you are right. I apologize. I had it all in the lost post, but not in the redone post. let me try and make my original post on this more compact. given general forms of 'tables' for this discussion I would like to refer to them in these terms, if you see some general type that is not repre...

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees
as I stated at the outset, saving a table to a file. its pretty simple code, what don't you understand? get an outfile get a table at level 0 the entire table is sent in so the first type it sees is table it cuts up the table entry, is the value a function, boolean, string, number and so on? write e...

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees
I cannot keep enough information in my head at one time to see where it fails in debug. here is the logical type of record (annotated) I am failing on, of course it is presented to me by lua in no logical sequence. -- _famOBJ table [fID] = { EPI = {(E)xtended (P)rogramming (I)nterface}, HDR = {Heade...

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees
I spent an hour answering you in detail. the site decides (murky, no warning, and without reason or intellect) that for reasons only known to those who do not care, that even though I am typing in this block, to log me out, and lose all my typing. happens often in long posts. ridiculous. so I will t...

Re: k, v -- can't see the forest for the trees
Yeah, thats what I saw, but not what I want
I need the keyable table entry, for example
[1] = {a, b, c, table, table, table}
I need the key as well. the entire entry.
rtx = wtrent( tbl[#tbl] )
is fundamentally the same though, just getting v

Re: Map Life Facts substitute place?
it would seem that you only need do it once, if you have to do that more than once, for SkarAborg, SWE then you need to standardize your places and addresses first, whole lot less hassle in the long run (not short run), you can quote me. I believe I have around 2600 separate and distinct 'places' in...

Re: Map Life Facts substitute place?
so read up on historic place names, you want skaraborg to be vastra-gotland now in your replacement and if all your skaraborgs are exactly typed the same, it will fix all of them in MLF, but like Norway, you will be changing it every few years when they rearrange fylke (NO) Much like Englands munici...

Re: Map Life Facts substitute place?
yes, OP it has to be done manually. French, USA what would be an intelligent auto replace algorithm? I assume the place you have does not map correctly, in which case, you need a correct mapping. I will repeat this because it bears repeating, my addresses and places are paired and have to pass sanit...

Re: Access To Place/Address Media From Properties Tab
As the treat addresses like places is already on the list if you have not voted for it then I recommend you do so.
Jane, where? I dont see it. I would vote for it nano-second by nano-second to get it to top of todos.

Re: built return values executable
while on the subject, this statement is in the KB:
Family Historian 5 and 6 both % and the slash character were permitted as escape characters. Now only % is allowed
Is this saying that in FH if I take all my _pth:gsub('\\', '/') or any '\\' pattern I can replace it with '%\' even now?

Re: built return values executable
yes, I have a require that has the code in there _STD_HDR top of every one of my plugins. it contains those fixes, several global constants (work in progress for a system of use) and several barges of kludge garbage to sort thru and burn, systemize, or hoard -- someday. as well as notes on things I ...

built return values executable
I want to build a return statement and execute it so, here is a function that takes any number of decimal variables and builds a return statement. Lets say I call it like this A, B, C dectoINT(.5, .5, .5) the return statement is rtx = 'return 128, 128, 128' so I have built up a nice little piece of ...

Re: Find Duplicate Place Names
one might ameliorate the situation with a table saving the pattern for places, and the pattern for addresses
and use the patterns to standardize place and address records and run as pattern thru a function.

Re: Find Duplicate Place Names
Looking good.
given these situations:
' Tenterden, Kent, EN, GBR' leading single space
'Tenterden, Kent, EN, GBR ' ending single space
and
'Tenterden, Kent, EN, GBR, ' ending comma and ending single space
are you handling them as untidy?

Re: Error when renaming file with accented characters
what size is your winapi.dll?
it needs static linking with some other dlls not dynamic linking
some I remember are:
msvcrt.dll (must be the same version)
libgcc_s_dw2.dll
lua5.1-32.dll
it has been so long since I read about it, it might need some googling.?
