Re: Naming and organising digital copies of old photos
Good question. I name photos very similarly to Mike. Main person, then I wouldn't add more than a second name: SMITH, John b. 1888 - 1905 Photograph SMITH, John b. 1888 and JONES, Jane, b. 1888 - 1905 Photograph SMITH, John b. 1888 (and family) - 1905 Photograph SMITH, John b. 1888 - Undated Photogr...

Re: Avoiding repeated pictures of Places in Reports
I agree.I think there should be Report Options to eliminate repeated Media images, either per Record or per Report.

Re: Linking multimedia to Residence fact
Yes, that's where I found the Work with Data - using the Edit buttons. (Played around with that a little - I like the ability to merge to create consistency in Places and Addresses).
The GEDCOM specification makes sense - thanks for the explanation, Mike.

Re: Linking multimedia to Residence fact
I didn't phrase that very well, linked wasn't what I meant and I can't explain it with the right technical words. It was an aside anyway, and not worth arguing about. I found the address and place tools a different way, but takes me to the same point. I have looked at the Knowledge Base but it doesn...

Re: Linking multimedia to Residence fact
Thanks Mike - really helpful. Yes, the Residences are already input, so seems there's no quicker way (at least I know I'm not wasting my time)! I think maybe I will stick with that, laborious as it is, as it allows different Notes /Captions for the different Individuals (the one I'm working on is a ...

Linking multimedia to Residence fact
I've figured I can't link a photo of a house to "Address" which is what I want to do. So as an alternative, I'm linking photograph of house to Residence fact, which works ok and puts the picture where I want it on reports. Is there a fast way to replicate the links and link notes to all the people w...

Re: Removing reviewed Findmypast hints
Thanks both - no, I'm not doing any of those things - not smart enough / efficient enough (unless delete cookies is set automatically - I am on Windows 10 and it does some things automatically that I can't turn off - I will check that out).

Re: Removing reviewed Findmypast hints
I checked settings - they were as they should be. So I tested this - accepted the hints, they disappeared and did not reappear for a while. Now there are no accepted hints - it shows everything that has already been accepted several times - and they have reappeared. I don't use FH on more than one P...

Re: Removing reviewed Findmypast hints
Thanks, Mike - I will check that out. I just recently upgraded to 6.2 having been away from FH for many years - quite a few changes to figure out.

Thank you so much. I will check my settings which are no doubt set up the wrong way.

Removing reviewed Findmypast hints
I love FMP hints, but have a few irritations. Once reviewed and accepted - the same hints keep returning - wastes a lot of time re-reviewing the same records. How do I stop them re-appearing once accepted? I only have a UK subscription, so can't review World hints. However, often it is clear a hint ...
