Re: Duplicate Spouses Problem
There are two ways to deal with this after making a back-up in case it goes wrong. 1 If the two spouses have the same ID then right click on one of them and Unlink , you may find that the remaining spuuse remains with two entries, if so repeat the process for that one as well. 2 If they have differe...

Re: FH6 and FH7 on same PC?
I created a ticket for this on the day FH7 was released, but the more who do so will add to the impetus for Calico Pie to do something. I also had email exchange with them yesterday stressing how important I thought this was.

Re: FH6 and FH7 on same PC?
One thing that you need to remember is that FH7 makes changes to the Gedcom such that it is 'unreadable' by FH6 . I tried this out of interest and when opened by FH6 whilst seeming OK there were many corruptions of the data. If you want both they have to be completely independent but the files are n...

Re: 2007-2019 births
Yup, that is how I see it. Which is why the GRO site is so helpful. GRO also gives mother's maiden names for births back to 1837 (unless they were illegitimate in which case it is often blank or the mother's surname) and ages for deaths which are not on the indexes until much later.

Re: 2007-2019 births
Full names are recorded on birth certificates and in GROs records, initials were probably used in the index pages for brevity.

Re: 2007-2019 births
Mike,
Thanks for that, just tried and indeed it does which is good to know. It seems a bit bizarre as the mothers maiden name is available on the index pages up to 2006ish on Ancestry and FMP.

Re: 2007-2019 births
1920-1934 births are a welcome addition, but every one I have looked at thus far doesn't have the mother's maiden name, an unfortunate omission but I'm sure GRO will rectify that soon. It is great for getting middle names though and the mother's maiden name can be got from the indexes

Re: Regular Maintenance Procedure
Just out of interest I run the Show Project Statistics Plugin every month and a couple of queries checking Living Flag still set for deceased people and vice versa. The plugin is good as it detects a wide range of possible errors and the queries occasionally highlight the odd data entry error. I als...

Well aware of that, I often drag place names on to the map. As they say, you learn something everyday.

Re: FH7 'Hidden' improvement
I think you missed my point of trying let people know it is now much quicker in FH7 it is to zoom in on a map. If you create a place without a georeference you will get something like this. Capture.jpg In FH6 I was then dragging the map so the marker was in line with the cross then using the slider ...

FH7 'Hidden' improvement
I am very pleased with many of the improvements in FH7, especially as I have now got used to a slightly different way of working with the citation window. Just in case anyone is not aware there is a very helpful improvement on the map function. In FH6 I found if I entered a place without a georefere...

Re: Search & Replace - Lost Data
I can't answer your query about why new records were created, I use Search and Replace a lot and have never had that problem. However, I thought I would just mention that Essex, East, England is not correct. I assume you were thinking of East Anglia, but that is not used in place names as it is not ...

V7 Search and Replace Plugin
Mike, I realise a lot of effort is being made by yourself and other skilled people to amend plugins for V7, but I was just wondering when the Search and Replace plugin is likely to be ready as I make extensive use of it. Also, you kindly made available a Format Dates in Sentences plugin which makes ...

Re: FH7 Paragraphs missing in reports
Removing unnecessary leading and trailing white space is normal practice as you say, but <para><br> etc are put there deliberately.
I have opened a ticket with support on this matter.

Re: FH7 Paragraphs missing in reports
Nick, You are probably right, but I interpreted the previous reply as it was a design decision. Hence my remark. I like some aspects, particularly the spell checker ()but I can't seem to add place names etc to a custom dictionary) but I dislike the new Citation window, FH6 version was much more conv...

Re: FH7 Paragraphs missing in reports
That is a major retrograde step. What then is the point of having formatting options in sentence templates? I have just tested that and the new paragraph instruction is there.

FH7 Paragraphs missing in reports
Did a test report this morning and the new paragraph instructions in the sentence templates seem to have been ignored.
Does anyone know if there is anything I can change to make them work.

Re: Storing Documents
I purchased 'Archival' quality A3 sleeves and binders from My History to store them in and I am confident my documents are well preserved. I also got specially sized sleeves and binders for storing certificates in. The binders need to be stored flat, in a damp free environment and in the dark, and m...
