Portable FamilyHistorian?
FH tech support tells me there's no way to create a "portable" version of Family Historian (i.e. a version of the program and data that can be run solely from a flash drive on a computer that doesn't have FH installed). I was wondering if anybody knew of a workaround, or an alternate way of providin...

Exported GEDCOM Auto-Update
Does FH keep a link to an exported GEDCOM file and automatically update it? I exported a GEDCOM to the "public" folder under my project. I was in the process of comparing that file to another GEDCOM file, and updating my FH project data based on those findings. In the midst of doing that, my compari...

Re: Submitter (SUBM) Missing on GEDCOM Export
Thanks, Mike!
I'll check on that Export Gedcom File plugin... looks like you've done your homework.

Re: Exported OBJE records
I'll check on the export options when I get home. I don't recall changing it, so I suspect it would be whatever the default is, but I'll double-check. And, yeah, that 5.5 to 5.5.1 multimedia stuff... frankly the 5.5 stuff seems kind of a mess. The 5.5.1 seems to handle it better, but it doesn't look...

Re: Submitter (SUBM) Missing on GEDCOM Export
You are correct, sir!
I unchecked the Unconnected Records option on the export dialog, and sure enough it created a record in the header section, along with the corresponding record.
And, yes, that does seem like a bug...
Thanks!

Exported OBJE records
I have some media in my project, but when I attempt to validate the exported GEDCOM file, I'm getting warning messages on the OBJE records. I don't know if there's a problem with the file, or with the validator. Here is the exported OBJE section: 0 @O3@ OBJE 1 FORM jpeg 1 TITL THARP, Thomas R - Grav...

Submitter (SUBM) Missing on GEDCOM Export
I have a Submitter record defined in FH6. In my Header Record, that record is chosen as the Submitter. But when I xport to a GEDCOM file the Submitter (SUBM) record is missing (which I understand is a required record in a valid 5.5 GEDCOM file). It makes no difference whether I check/uncheck the "Ex...

Re: Reports Show [Person] when data is available
Wow, very quick and helpful responses... thanks all! That indeed was the problem. There was one person that had a custom sentence specified for that fact. When I deleted it, it immediately reverted back to the default sentence, which was correct. I had seen some references to the ability to query bu...

Reports Show [Person] when data is available
I'm generating an "Ancestors By Generation" report. One of the people in the report has a death date and location filled in (under the Main tab), but the report generates placeholders for that person. For example, Susie SMITH died on "Dec 18, 2010" in "Dallas, TX". The report that's generated looks ...
