Re: Internet Data Match hints from FamilySearch?
Many thanks to Mick, Mike and Helen for your prompt replies! Mick : I'd not realised that Ancestry would charge Calico for providing hints: I thought their business model would be to attract subscriptions from as many sources as possible. Mike: Yes, I'm starting to look at the plugins for FamilySear...

Internet Data Match hints from FamilySearch?
FH can provide Internet Data Match hints from FindMyPast and MyHeritage which I find very helpful, but other family history products provide matches with Ancestry and FamilySearch. Hints from FS, in particular, would be very welcome as it's a free to use.
I'm using FH 6.2.7
thanks,

How to add images containing multiple individual details to FH6
I've some census screenshots and also a digital image of a family gravestone with multiple individial names that I'd like to add to FH6. Each includes several members of the family. I was planning to add as a media item to each individual's entry in FH6 but wondered if that's the recommended and mos...

Re: Can FH6 housekeep old backups?
Thanks Jane and Mike for your suggestions also when the Backup on exit shows the Enter Backup File Name dialogue, you can Delete any old Backup files, before you Save the current Backup file, and that avoids using File Explorer separately. - Good tip, I'd not realised that! Simonides

Can FH6 housekeep old backups?
As FH6 does a backup on exit, I've now accumulated a large number of backup files. Rather than accessing the data folder with File Explorer, and manually deleting the old backup files occasionally, is there a facility to housekeep automatically, eg, to keep the last three backups and purge the older...

Re: FH6 - To-do lists
Thanks to Mike, Arthur and Jane - I now have a slightly simplified version of this working now, and can start to look at other aspects of FH (and perhaps even move forward on my research!) I must say I'm very grateful to this wonderfully supportive and patient user community.

Re: FH6 - To-do lists
Use CTRL-Enter to add new lines in the Auto-note box. thank you! I've now created a Research Tab Research tab.jpg but am unsure how to complete this little project by creating a query to list the To Do items. The Knowledge Base item for Create Custom Queries suggests to use expressions such as: Ent...

Re: FH6 - To-do lists
Mike and Arthur, you've both kindly provided a screen shot showing an Auto Create Note in the Fact Definition, Advanced Features Box of Notes Page: BMD: Census: but I'm unclear where or how these are specified. I tried just typing it in, but can only enter the first line so I guess that's the wrong ...

Re: FH6 - To-do lists
You can only have two items on a Row, but if you return to the Tab list you can add as may rows of "items" as you want. yes, that's what I though. Perhaps Arthur was just referring to the Notes tab that's already there. I've created the input mechanism. Tomorrow, I'll look at how to list those to-d...

Re: FH6 - To-do lists
Arthur - I've created a Research tab for the property box, with two items - Research, and To Do. You say yours included General Notes as a third item, but I could not see how to have more than two items, could you clarify please? Edit custom item.jpg As example: The research tab.jpg Is this correct?

Re: FH6 - To-do lists
Arthur, I'm trying to replicate what you did as it sounds useful. You stated that you "created two new fact types - Research and To Do. These consist of Notes only." so I followed the instructions: In ƒh V6 use Tools > Fact Types or in ƒh V5 use Tools > Work with Fact Sets and click the New button: ...

Re: FH6 - Extract all FH data to a PDF report file
Steve , thanks so much for your suggestion to look at ScionPC. I had some initial issues in that it can only read ANSI gedcom files but was able to save the UTF8 gedcom with Notepad in ANSI format and read it ok (do I lose anything with ANSI rather than UTF8? Why does FH use UTF8, if it's not stand...

FH6 - To-do lists
I keep thinking of bits of research I need to do. It would be great to have a way to note these, perhaps in an individual's property box, and then be able to run a report with all the to-dos listed. Does this tool exist? Or would it be a request for a future enhancement?
thanks, Simonides

I found that my local library has Ancestry library membership. Best online service for researching Denmark and UK with FH6?

I see from the documentati...

FH6.2.2 out of the box hangs while downloading update - with workaround
I just purchased the FH6 CD ROM from S&N via Amazon.uk and installed it as v 6.2.2 It immediately recommended upgrading to 6.2.6. I accepted this but it hung for a long time on a window saying "Downloading Update." I tried a couple of other times on different PCs in the house but it only upgraded co...
