Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks Mike, I started off with the media report but despite having gone through all the options, I couldn't see how to get several photos (depending on size set) across the page, they all end up in separate rows and as separate 'sections' even when small size. I'm clearly missing something here (th...

Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Hi, is there a way of choosing photos to include in the 'individual multimedia report'? Apart from my parents and my siblings we have no family photos, so to break up my book, I've been adding snips of the BMD certificates (like you'd get from the GRO as a pdf) to my family group sheet reports in th...

Re: Place name position in reports
Thanks Mike, I’ve been playing with various options and have changed the date to compact, which helps a lot. I’m in work at the moment but will look at the other options you give later on. Thanks

Re: Place name position in reports
Adrian, thanks for adding those clips - my details of events are factual but very boring ….. eg Frank, aged 26, bachelor, civil servant, of address, father: John, schoolmaster, followed by the bride and then witnesses:…… priest:……
I am going to pinch your idea and write it more as a story, thanks

Re: Place name position in reports
Cheers both, I've only just seen your posts sorry - have ticked the notify me button now - and am about to go to bed, but Adrian, I think you're right, I'll just have to play with the tabs and decide on the best format (though I get one that fits nicely only to find it's not as good for another fami...

Re: Family Group Sheet page breaks
I have a similar issue where for example the details of a burial (plot / who with, added in the 'note') appear on a new page, leaving only the cemetery name on the previous page. I have therefore either added some extra detail to or removed some text from one of the other entries to address the prob...

Place name position in reports
Probably a stupid question (sorry) and down to personal preference, but I'm looking for ideas about the 'place' in reports (particularly the 'Family Group Sheet' which I'm using in a book) as it appears in an awkward position if you want to add a photo on the right of the text. Currently my solution...

Re: Merging 2 people currently on different branches of a tree
Thanks both, very enlightening. This is one of two very complicated branches on our tree, though the other is very definitely one man who - for reasons unknown - went by a different surname (along with his family) on the 1881 and 1891 censuses, yet all the births, baptisms etc were recorded correctl...

Re: Merging 2 people currently on different branches of a tree
Thanks Mike, i do have a backup saved (several), but will take care. Essentially i guess it’s more important that he is shown as the father of Joseph but i’ll see what happens.

Re: Merging 2 people currently on different branches of a tree
Thanks Lorna, will do. Only have the marriage, 1911, death, burial and probate, so easy enough to add back in. When i get to write up my ‘book’ i’ll add a narrative section just on this mystery.

Re: Merging 2 people currently on different branches of a tree
Thanks both, (yes Lorna, that’s correct). It is very confusing and i hoped to just give the bare bones of the mystery to illustrate the query. I have all the available / found certificates. Sadly i know nothing about Samuel or William pre the children’s baptisms on the isle of Man (1865-1875) nor ca...

Merging 2 people currently on different branches of a tree
Hi, before i do anything which confuses my tree, I’d appreciate some advice please. Over the last few days i’ve become fairly convinced that one of my husband’s 3* great grandfathers married one of his 3* great grandmothers (both widowed, both on the maternal side of his tree, but not a ‘pair’). Not...

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Mike, that's brilliant, just what I wanted to do. Downloaded 5 minutes ago but I've already added the first few to my book and managed to get the places following each other rather than on the the same page. Thanks so much.

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
I've tried your alternative version Lorna and while it doesn't list all the people linked to the places, it adds the file name, and the 'text', 'media record', 'annotation' and 'Use note as caption' fields which is slightly annoying. Not - so far - found a way to exclude that....... ideally i want t...

Re: Narrative reports text size and other questions
In my places report, i get the place name in full, and can add the name of the image if i want to, but that then repeats most the of the info which looks silly, so i have left it as the default.

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Not a problem, thanks for your help. I may either create the full places report as a separate book, or do as i did in v6 and create an info page in word, add images, and save as an image then add to the book that way. Bit of a hassle if you want to edit anything, but it works.
