one more query - and I know I said 'no' to children of the ancestors' children - but if I extend the generations to 2 (or even 3) to include cousins, is there a way to exclude the 1st cousin once-removed (and all the once-removed)?

to add to the complication i am now wondering if they were gypsies - i couldn't read the location in 1851 on ancestry but it's '(Open Tent), Ponts and Pit Common, Usk' according to FMP.

I'm clearly missing some vital clues here because sadly I can't get this to work, though it is useful and what I would ideally like to use. Thanks again Mike, certainly more fiddly than my workaround, but clearly gives more control over layout and size etc. Maybe if I had photos of lots of generations I'd go with the workaround for ease, but I'll have a proper 'go' at this tomorrow - getting too hot to concentrate fully now.
