Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
Mike, using your 'removed' line as an example I've now excluded the 'great (x2) great aunts' and uncles (and x3 and x4) too.

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
That’s brilliant Mike, thanks so much for all your help, not only on this puzzle but throughout my FH journey. I am really pleased with how my own book is shaping up - just a few more family groups to add in - and the current three ‘others’ are very impressed not only with my findings but also how i...

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
Having seen the query results i realised that my third cousin - who i have been researching our mystery Irish branch with for some years - is missing. She also shares her birthday with my dad. So ideally i would like 1st 2nd and 3rd cousins (but none of the ‘removeds’). Only three of our shared grea...

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
one more query - and I know I said 'no' to children of the ancestors' children - but if I extend the generations to 2 (or even 3) to include cousins, is there a way to exclude the 1st cousin once-removed (and all the once-removed)?

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
Mike, that's fantastic, does exactly what I wanted to do and the three people whose trees I'm currently finalising (related to each other) are equally thrilled. I may 'play' with the row filters to include more generations / exclude spouses of descendants if I want to, depending on the tree. I'll do...

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
Sorry Mike, not explaining myself very well. Do you mean the immediate children of every direct line ancestor (but not the children of those children)? Yes please to children of direct line ancestors, and not their children What about the spouses of everyone included by the agreed rules? Ideally yes...

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
Sorry Mike, I got carried away there! I was looking for age this birthday alive or not, but yes of course it will be out of date in the book so i'll forget that one. I was going to keep it simple and do 3 separate tables, births, marriages and deaths, and am happy with the current query sort order. ...

Re: Report / query listing birthdays etc
Thanks Mike, after a few wrong turns i've done the basic births
Can i ask:
how to add in age (this year)?
Is it possible to include siblings / aunts / uncles?
Can the results be saved to add to the book?
I've done very few queries and don't find them easy

Report / query listing birthdays etc
I'm looking to finish off my books (my own and a number i'm finishing for friends) with a list of birthdays, marriage dates and deaths, but would like to restrict to direct line relatives only for each book owner (and list relationship), and ideally to only include those with a known date, not just ...

Re: Family group report with 3 adults
Thanks everyone, been out for a walk with the dogs and come back to loads of comments! i'll go with the Joseph having 2 wives, though no marriage (or maiden name yet found for Martha which doesn't help, but none of the children were hers), and Joseph and Elizabeth didn't marry. They are definitely t...

Re: Family group report with 3 adults
to add to the complication i am now wondering if they were gypsies - i couldn't read the location in 1851 on ancestry but it's '(Open Tent), Ponts and Pit Common, Usk' according to FMP.

Re: Family group report with 3 adults
Thanks Mark, i was coming to the same conclusion - showing Joseph with 2 'wives'. i do a short intro to each family group so can explain it there. was confusing myself as all 3 adults were together for 3 censuses!

Family group report with 3 adults
Hi, i'm writing a book using family group reports and have a problem i've not encountered before. Joseph Smith married Martha (no marriage found yet) and they were together in 1841 with a young daughter and a servant named Elizabeth Weaver. Joseph and Martha are on the 1851 and 1861 as husband and w...

Copying a book settings to another project
Hopefully an easy question but I can't find out how to do it ... Having set up a book with the settings I like, fonts, colours etc, I'd like to use the same settings in another project that I'm just starting on - but I can't see a way of copying a book to another project (or won't it work because th...

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks Mike, I think I'm just about there with my book and photo design now, though plenty of chapters to fill yet. So hopefully the last of the questions :D. Not really scratched the surface of FH I'm sure, but having inserted my gedcom file from ancestry the data was 95% there for me to tweak (and...

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks Lorna, with everyone's help I'm getting there now! I had checked the page setup, but not the printer setup (the book was printing ok), and the diagram page was defaulting to letter. Have just changed that; I had 'show page boundaries' selected and thought the photos fitted sensibly inside, bu...

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks Mike, I have gone through the help pages several times, briefly last night and a number of times today, convinced it was me, but I couldn't see anything. My diagram options box comes up as this, and I can't see 'Background: one colour' to select diagram options - small.png But apologies, I've...

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
I'm clearly missing some vital clues here because sadly I can't get this to work, though it is useful and what I would ideally like to use. I added a variety of size photos to a test blank diagram, set the page to portrait, and adjusted the margins, sized them to what looked a good fit on one page, ...

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks again Mike, certainly more fiddly than my workaround, but clearly gives more control over layout and size etc. Maybe if I had photos of lots of generations I'd go with the workaround for ease, but I'll have a proper 'go' at this tomorrow - getting too hot to concentrate fully now. Thanks again.

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks Mike, given the variety of shapes and sizes I'll have a look at that, but at least I now know that I can use my workaround if needed. Thanks all.
Edited to say that i can't find 'standard diagram types > blank diagram'. Would it be called something different in v7?

Re: Restricting photos in the 'individual multimedia report'
Thanks Lorna, will have a look at the scrapbook option, though unfortunately i have all my BMD images attached to the relevant individual (or couple). However, by playing with the sizes I have discovered a layout I'm happy with, using my 'unrelated individual' workaround .... I've had to make it sma...
