Thanks Mike, will do that.
The only problem with adding them separately is that you have to have a label, which looks a bit silly on each line, esp with 15 children, so i think i'll leave the standard child entry as is for most, and just add in for those with more than 1 marriage / children.

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Sorry Mike, here is is.... %INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[1]>% (=LifeDates(%INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[1]>%)) %INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[2]>% (=LifeDates(%INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[2]>%)) %INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[3]>% (=LifeDates(%INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[3]>%)) %INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[4]>% (=LifeDates(%INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[4]>%)) %INDI.FAMS[1]>CHIL[5]>% (...

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Mike, sorry I must be doing something wrong when I add lots of children to one line. The last one detailed loses the closing bracket on dates. I added 5 children in for now, will need more, but with 1 child he / she loses the closing bracket, 2 children the 2nd loses the closing bracket, with 5 the ...

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Mike, that's amazing thank you (again). I was worrying about adding 15 children, but they were all to one marriage, so I can leave that out. Will try it out on a family with several children in each marriage, but that's perfect. Not sure if there are any other things I can add to my book now :) Edit...

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Not sure I understand your last point. None of the field labels should be numbered - just use Spouse and Marriage as the labels, without numbers, and you will get an output similar to my screenshot above. Sorry Mark i thought i edited it and delated the last bit before anyone saw it - I didn't thin...

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Dierdre, you need to change the Report > Options > Contents tab, Family Member Main Items as follows. The predefined Spouses entry must be Hidden. Add a Spouse item for as many of the following for the maximum number of spouses expected: %INDI.~SPOU[1]>% (=LifeDates(%INDI.~SPOU[1]>%)) %INDI.~SPOU[2...

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Thanks Mike, easy when you say it! Hoping i don’t have all 42 chapters to individually update (only think one married 3 times but have several twos when spouses died young).

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Hi Mark, how do you get your spouse / marriage to show like that? I only have spouse (1) spouse (2) and marriage twice with no number. My ‘book’ with 42 chapters of ‘family group sheets’ is almost finished - this was a late addition - so there will be a lot of edits to make if i can follow your sugg...

Re: Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Apologies, it's working now (i'd added it to the 'wrong' family group report
) I realise i need to add it to all the reports in the book, just chose the wrong example.
Is there a way to remove the word 'Married' though (sorry)

Adding marriage date / place to children in a family group sheet
Hi, probably another silly question from me i'm afraid but i've searched the forum and knowledge base and can't find what i'm looking for :( I'd like to add the marriage date and place (not necessarily the actual church but the town) to the children in the family group sheet. I have name / spouse / ...

Re: Removing projects from laptop
I would only add that it might be prudent to copy those backup to two different USB sticks. They have been known to fail, so extra backup is generally a good idea!! Thanks Mike, i may try that, just to satisfy myself of the process :) Yes, all my media files are in the media sub-folder (as well as ...

Yes, all my media files are in the media sub-folder (as well as in separate research folders which i'll save backup copies to usb as well). Thanks.

Re: Removing projects from laptop
Thanks Mike, i have done the full backup of all my projects to laptop and usb this morning (various dates before), just reluctant to remove the others, not my own, without having tried a restore. I may never be asked to add further info to these other trees so i'll go ahead as suggested.

Re: Removing projects from laptop
Thanks Mike, i was going to do that but then wondered if it was simpler to save the project itself. I've luckily never needed to use the restore backup option - hence the hesitation - but could do with the space these projects are taking up as they have loads of photos, snips of certs and newspapers...

Removing projects from laptop
Quick question.... if i want to delete / remove projects that I have completed, but may want to go back to at some point in the future (I have done quite a few in the last few years for other people, all backed up to my laptop and to a USB stick) should I copy the project to a USB, delete it from th...

Re: Copying a book settings to another project
Yes - I think I felt it would fail (or cause a problem) as the people from the 'template' book wouldn't be in the new project. As it happens, the report comes through in the new project, including the family. I was surprised the family stayed in the new project though, even after a refresh, but the ...

Re: Copying a book settings to another project
Well hopefully this works...... there may well be a better / simpler way but this has just worked for me. Save a copy of the book you're happy with (in the books and booklets folder). I called mine 'template'. Maybe even add the date to the name in case you create a template you prefer at a later da...

Dierdre, there is an option in most reports to include/exclude any selected fact(s). Family Group Sheet > Report > Options > Contents tab, Family Member Events/Attributes. Adding occupation without a date
Another pernickety question sorry.... i don't usually use the 'occupation' field, adding it in the detail in the census / marriage / death notes etc. But for a new project I'd like to add it in. But, it appears in the family group / individual reports in odd places, between census entries (before th...
