Thanks Trevor, that looks really useful (though I've not linked in all my source images yet).

Re: Direct ancestors only
Thanks trevorrix, I hadn't thought of doing it that way. My default ancestor diagram only shows name and birth and death years but I'll have a look at extending the details.
Many thanks, great to have options.

Re: Direct ancestors only
Thanks Mike, really helpful. Apologies for not spotting the 'ancestors' query because it is - as you say - just what I wanted. I have downloaded quite a few of the queries but am struggling to amend them to what I want so this is great. Not looked at the plugins before but they sound handy too. Will...

Direct ancestors only
Wondering if it's possible to create a query where only direct ancestors are returned? I have a lot of people in my tree - and am happy with that - but I'd like to make sure that I have all the details for my direct ancestors (or any given name , if say I wanted to concentrate on my mum's branch). I...

Re: Verdana Pro font
Thanks Mike L and Nick, I have just checked my desktop and have none of those Pan-European fonts, nor is it an option in the optional features list, so I assume it happened with the recent update (I have v1607). Verdana Pro is not available on my ipad either anymore. Wish I'd stayed with Arial, but ...

Re: Verdana Pro font
Thanks Mike, I'll have a look at that but don't usually do anything like mess with the settings in case it causes other problems I can't fix! There are still loads of other fonts listed - shame it removed the one I used. Having heard of people who have experienced a lot of issues after the W10 updat...

Re: Verdana Pro font
Have just discovered that changing Verdana 10 to 9pt looks much more like Pro - see below - so I'll do that.... had thought they looked quite different in the screenshot above, Verdana 10 looks much wider than Pro 10 (to me anyway!)

Re: Verdana Pro font
Here's a clip showing the same text in both fonts. Not sure why I preferred Pro and will change to Verdana if necessary....

Re: Verdana Pro font
Hi Mike, I'm not very tech-minded I'm afraid but it's the same PC, bought just over a year ago, installed Windows 10 a few weeks after it came out and the update ran a few days ago. I haven't installed any fonts myself, Verdana Pro was available when I started using FH6 about 6 months ago, and I use...

Verdana Pro font
This sounds a silly question, but does anyone know what has happened to the font called Verdana Pro? I had set up my reports and book to use the Verdana Pro font in a variety of sizes, but wanted to change size of a book title today as it doesn't fit as I want it to, but the Verdana Pro font is no l...

Re: All census query
Update to say thanks again Mike, it's working as I wanted (we realised we had a number of ancestors on different branches living in the same street so wanted an easy way to look at that, as well as check missing entries), and it can be used as a template for other queries I want to do.

Re: All census query
Hi Jane, the first bit was great, and those 2 queries will be really useful. Sadly however, I can't see what I need to edit to get the addresses. I guess this is too advanced for me

All census query
I'm trying to create a query that shows the addresses of individuals on the censuses (and 1939 register). I can create a query bringing in one census at a time but would be interested in one that showed them all in one table. Is this possible? eg Name > 1841 address > 1851 address > 1861 address ......

Re: Images in reports
Thanks Mike, took some playing as my first attempt had to be reduced to 75% when inserted into the book, so my matching text font size was very small.
Anyway, it's just what I wanted, thanks, the ability to create a page of various images and add text where I wanted them on the page.

Images in reports
Is it possible to remove the border on images in reports? I'm happy with it being there with my standard photos (head shot of each person etc) but I'm creating some timeline images and groups of pictures (eg cropped BMDs with transcription, or a collection of photos of a village, with related text, ...

Printing a book - gutter
Is there a way to set the page layout to include the 'gutter' margin for printing a book, so that if you print back to back the page layout is not affected by the binding? Thanks.

Re: Customising reports
Hi Bob, thanks ever so much for this, really helpful, and clearly explained. I hadn't looked at the ISRs but, following advice from elsewhere, have been playing with the individual narrative reports, using the notes section to add in the text I want. While there is more to do (tweak!) I'm much happi...

Re: Customising reports
Thanks both; I've clearly got some reading / work to do before deciding if FH is right for me. I watched every video I could find and certainly used one while I was entering the data, but that may have been the census one.
Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Re: Customising reports
Thanks again Mike. I found those chapters in the guide but neither answered my questions! I was looking for a design mode of the reports i guess, where i could choose which facts i wanted to include. I'm in work so haven't had a chance to explore it fully, but the fact types should help. If I can't ...

Re: Customising reports
Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. I've spent several hours each day on FH and have gone through many of the topics and videos in the key features for newcomers section; all really helpful. I've also found the 'getting the most out of FH5' manual. But I hadn't found much on customising reports; I had s...
