Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Not been able to try that yet Mike as my laptop has run out of charge! But i think that will obliterate the description for the place too as both will be ‘section data’

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Amazing thanks Mike, i had run out of options and one of my villages ran to 2 pages of ‘people’ references.
I do like the report though, very helpful if you have a large tree and want a reminder of who lived where! Much more to explore.

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Yes, I would certainly include some maps, both historic and modern. This is the easiest way to illustrate how much, or how little, people moved during their lives. And also to ilustrate which villages have now almost disappeared while others have been swallowed up in bigger conurbations. Thanks Lor...

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Is it possible to NOT include the people found in the location? It's interesting (and I'm pleased I now know how to do this), and I may include them, but it will add quite a bit to the book!

Re: Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
That sounds perfect thanks Mike, will have a look. No 'people' photos at all sadly, but have found a few general photos of the areas, and taken snips of old maps, so could add those.

Adding village info to family group sheets or other reports
Hi, I'm creating a book made up of a series of family group sheets for a friend in Australia who has probably never heard of some of the little villages in south Wales where his ancestors were living. Looking for suggestions as to where to put them. Current ideas are as a second 'residence' entry fo...

Re: Creating a list of all marriages in a register office
Thanks both, yes in the place field, eg Register Office, Pontypridd (whereas my church marriages say eg place = Cardiff, address = St Peter's RC church). Guess it would make sense if they followed the same format! I'd forgotten 'contains' so couldn't see how to select them all. Should work now, than...

Creating a list of all marriages in a register office
No doubt a simple query but I can't work out how to create a list of all register office marriages - not just those in a specific place. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Deirdre
Thanks,
Deirdre

Re: Changing type
Thanks Mike, will look at changing the 1939 entries to census, and will try and remember to use AS in future.
Many thanks for all your advice and help.

Re: Changing type
Just realised that i created my own custom fact called 1939 register, but it does what i wanted it to do. I have found so much information from the register that i like it to standout.
The more i read these posts, the more i realise that i have barely scratched the surface of all FH can do.

Re: Changing type
I added in the 1939 register entries myself, as residences as many people are quick to point out that it wasn't a census, so the change any fact tag plugin changed them. They are now back to residences for 29 Sep 1939, and i'm happy with that. Re the search and replace, that seems to have worked ok,...

Re: Changing type
Thanks Mike, that worked a treat (except I forgot about the 1939 register, so had to manually re-enter those, luckily not too many). Have used the search and replace plugin tonight too (to make a place name shorter) and the AS census date checker to enter the full census dates. Great stuff.

Re: Unmarried couples in reports
Hi, I'm having the same trouble.... the parents of a child are known, but they never married. I have them marked as 'never married' - tried 'unmarried couple' as well - and the facts box is empty, but my family group sheet lists them as 'husband' and 'wife', with the child, and 'never married' as th...

Re: Changing type
Thanks Mike, i have re-created my own tree using AS which is obviously why that one is ok.
The issue is with a tree I created for a work colleague using Ancestry, and then imported to FH to print reports, and now a book. I'll have a go with the plugin tomorrow. Many thanks.

Changing type
Annoyingly I have discovered that I have mixed entries in my tree - some census entries are entered as 'census' but others are entered as 'residence', my own fault and probably ones that I have entered manually after importing my gedcom. People have either 'census' or 'residence' entries, but I'd pr...

Re: Copying book settings from one project to another
Just to say that this worked, so again, many thanks Mike. Much quicker and less frustrating than changing all the fonts and colours (though i may change one or two colours so it's not identical to mine).

Re: Copying book settings from one project to another
Brill, thanks Mike, i'll give that a go.
I'd been running family group sheets to check the data (which did use my own settings) so i was surprised to see that the book came out in default settings.
Thanks again.

Copying book settings from one project to another
Hi, I have created several 'books' in my main project (my own family) but have been working on a new project for a friend. I'd like to create a book for her now too, preferably using the same fonts, colours, sizes etc from my own project (see pic), without having to set them all up in the new projec...

Re: Direct ancestors only
Thanks Mike, sorry I hadn't spotted the reply. Re plugins, I've downloaded the Quick Family Facts plugin and really like it, thanks. Edited to add: Is it possible to print the sheet? I've inserted it into Word and printed from there (and saved as an image) but printing straight from FH6 would be han...
