Re: Where Used Record Links 1.4
OK, Mike. I will use your naming technique in the future. I have not run into issues thus far with several plugins with the 'sticky' settings condition, but will keep that in mind. Yes, the first time I was using Sources, and selected some, then got results. Then deleted a couple duplicates indicate...

Re: Where Used Record Links 1.4
Thanks, but each time I have clicked the 'x' to close the result set (as I usually do with plugins) before running the plugin again...each time the same result of prior search pops up.
I even deleted the plugin and reloaded it but same result.

Re: Search and Replace 3.2
Mike,
That didn't work for me, per the snapshot. No results. I am looking for the 3 text strings, 3 letters together each. Is that what the pattern is looking for? Those are actually present in those groups of characters.
The backspaces aren't needed.

Where Used Record Links 1.4
Downloaded Where Used Record Links 1.4 and it ran fine the first time. But now, it doesn't give me a chance to enter new parameters for type of record to scan. After 'run', it simply goes to results from the last run. Tried exiting FH and reloading to no avail. Am I missing something? The mod is app...

Search and Replace 3.2
Somewhere I read that using LUA patterns for searching allows or is like using regular expressions. In notepad this expression: ^.*\b(mPR|dPR|bPR)\b.*$ obtains correct results, but in the Search and Replace plugin, with the LUA Pattern Mode ticked, Search Only finds nothing. What would be the equiva...

Re: High cost of upgrade
At the end of the day it's not a big sum, just momentarily annoying. Precisely, and as another noted, let's keep a sense of proportion. I am happy in any event to contribute to Calico Pie a amount less than the cost of nice night out (pre-pandemic ;) ) for a premier product, regardless if other use...

Re: Export gedcom file
Thanks Mike. I have worked a little with existing queries, but that was over a year ago. Totally understand the lack of time for composing a Query and I wasn't asking you to do that. Assume though, not just for my sake, you will eventually update the Export Gedcom File for what you think might be ca...

Re: Export gedcom file
OK Mike.
Thanks. But it may be a bit more than I can chew on. My work has been more on the TNG programming side (html, php, and a bit of SQL). I need to read up on the FH query function which I know is very powerful but one needs also familiarity with the record types as you have listed.

Re: Export gedcom file
Mike, Thanks for the statistics references, but those FH reports don't seem to recognize notes, at least not the way TNG does. FH indicates 14 notes, TNG over 4000. That said, the File:File Statistics for FH6 and FH7 do match exactly. The Project File Statistics isn't ready for V7. Yes, the TNG coun...

Re: Export gedcom file
A difference noted in TNG from FH7 export: Notes that had single spaces between paragraphs are now double spaces. Is there a setting in FH to avoid this extra spacing?

Re: Export gedcom file
Exactly what Notes are you counting and comparing? It's a note link count that TNG presents in its statistics page. Not sure how it relates to the type of notes in FH. I just know if the TNG statistics match between imports from 2 versions of FH, and all screen pages match also, the export is quite...

Re: Export gedcom file
Mike, This is looking really good now. I compared many TNG screens imported from FH6 to those from FH7, and media and data compares exactly. All media counts are dead on. All media link notes appear to be there. I don't have media attached to citations, so no worries there. The only minor discrepanc...

Re: Export gedcom file
Mike, No urgency on any of this. I just confirmed my earlier tests with FH 7. TNG has a mod/plugin which indicates 918 media items remain unlinked. Meaning the physical images (jpgs) are present in their respective folders, but TNG has nothing in its database linking to them. Will look to see if any...

Re: Export gedcom file
Mike, Perhaps you misunderstood my last post. The plugin is * not* yet working properly on FH7 . My last post was with the v4.0 plugin, but on FH 6 . So I am still left with the missing media links, and missing link notes before I can even consider moving to FH7 . The conversion did not detect the (...

Re: Export gedcom file
This test was on my FH6 laptop. Since supported on FH6, I renamed the Export Gedcom File plugin .dat file for v3.9, then loaded and ran v4. The results, with brief review, look good. All the media links and media link notes are present after import to TNG. You must have a check of FH versions for th...

Re: Export gedcom file
Mike, If it helps, here's my FH 6 plugin v3.9 screen grabs: 2020-12-12_FH6 A.jpg 2020-12-12_FH6 B.jpg 2020-12-12_FH6 C.jpg Have a question. Are plugin settings stored for each plugin version? Since Export Gedcom v4 is supported on FH6, can (or should) I run it there without losing my settings for v3...

Re: Export gedcom file
Hi Mike, Thanks for the quick response. The notes are link notes, and the box , use link note as caption is unchecked (as I had it in FH v6 plugin v3.9 setting). Yes the media statistics are from FH v7 statistics report. 2020-12-12 A.jpg 2020-12-12 B.jpg 2020-12-12 C.jpg I tried to add a 4th image, ...

Re: Export gedcom file
Testing Export Gedcom v4 for TNG, I ensured my plugin settings matched v6 and now I am comparing the imported data on TNG. Most noticeable is the loss of all my media link notes. They are not in the exported ged file. Did I miss a setting? Also, perhaps more important, my media count should be 3562,...

Re: Plugins and Version 7
A word of explanation about what is actually happening when you install FH7 would probably help here. Thanks Mark. My comments were more directed at the forced overwrite of FH7 over FH6, and I have said enough about that. As to plugins, I understand fully the need for time to adapt code to a new ve...

Re: Plugins and Version 7
All previous upgrades of FH have worked in the same way. It does have the advantage that if you have made any customisations in V6 they will be retained (apart from possibly a very small number which would not be compatible with V7). I presume the 'customisations' you refer to are not plugins, but ...

Re: Plugins and Version 7
The Export Gedcom File plugin poses particular challenges for products such as TNG and FTM that I do not possess as there are no free trial versions. Testing has been somewhat limited for me during FH 7 beta testing. Hi Mike, I surmised that delays would be involved, especially with your extensive ...

Re: Plugins and Version 7
I just checked v7 plugins and don't see the Mr. Tate's excellent Export to Gedcom for TNG plugin yet. I had thought it might be there, since we were approached for testing back in August and might have been ready by now. (I was not able to be a tester since all the slots were filled). But I suppose ...

Re: Plugins and Version 7
Yes, but even the 'trial' version needs to be on a separate device, does it not? And I doubt that the plugin I am looking for, the Export to Gedcom for TNG, is not going to be needed with FH v7.
