Re: Restoring backup from laptop to desktop
Just to clarify, Capture 0 is the entry on the laptop copy; Capture 1 is the backup file name, 2/3 = saved on laptop. Capture 4 is the backup copied to the desktop (portable HDD) Captures 5/6/7 the restore to the desktop program Capture 8 the relevant entry opened in the desktop program, data missin...

Re: Restoring backup from laptop to desktop
Hi Are you saying that some new records added to the laptop recently do transfer OK, but others are missing? I'm not sure without looking through the complete list of records. Anyway, I have tried again today and still have the same problem. The attached screen grabs show what I've done. Geoffrey Lo...

Re: Restoring backup from laptop to desktop
Sorry Mike, I thought I had: I always do a full project backup each time I close the program, so yes, I have a lot of them. I have the program set to "always ask to backup" and click yes each time. I also save everything frequently. There are no other messages from FH apart from that below. I just c...

Re: Restoring backup from laptop to desktop
Hi, Thanks for the response. I always do a complete project backup, when from the desktop pc it goes to a portable hard drive (sharing issues have prevented me from saving directly to that from the laptop, although I *think* I have sorted that now.) so I took the latest one from the portable drive t...

Restoring backup from laptop to desktop
Hi As the title says. I've been working on my file whilst away for a couple of days and figured out the best way of getting everything in one place was to back up the file from the laptop and then restore the backup to my desktop. This doesn't seem to have worked, as there are de3finitely two people...

Re: Gedcom file export to create Ancestry tree
There are a number of issues to consider. You say you have the "Private" Flag set in FH V6.2, but the Private Flag is only attached to selected Individual Records , so are you expecting those Individual's details to be excluded somehow? Yes, I thought it would. I can't think of another obvious reas...

Gedcom file export to create Ancestry tree
Hi I have done this to create a private tree on Ancestry, the aim of which is for my cousin and someone I know to be able to see. Although I have the "private" flag set in FH6.2, all the details have come up in the Ancestry tree so, unless I change it so that it is completely private (ie doesn't com...

Re: Duplicate names (shown as aka...on tree)
Thank you. I have managed to delete the extra name, but not in the way that you said as I cannot work out which property box has the "primary name" facility. Definitely a newbie here.

Duplicate names (shown as aka...on tree)
Hi I have imported via gedcom from FTM into FH 6.1 and I have noticed that at least one of my people (Kate Stephens) has an entry "aka Kate Stephens" in her "box" on my ancestor tree. Looking at the "all" tab of the property box, she has one entry cited as the 1901 census, and one entry cited as the...
