Alignment of all-relatives diagram
I am having an issue with a diagram I am trying to produce for my sister-in-law. The attachment shows the problem - I am trying to get Richard Rees 1841 in line with all his siblings. I am happy to have him out of "birth order" sequence and then have his spouse next to him on the same line. This, al...

Re: Ancestors and relative lists for myself and wife
Ah - yes. That has revealed it, although I now need to try and add the other columns in (it only has name and record id at the moment). Hopefully that is a simple job for the morning. I haven't changed monitor - I suspect it is the first time for a while I have tried to use it - although I plan to g...

Re: Ancestors and relative lists for myself and wife
Are you sure you have the Named List pane open in the right half of the Records Window ? i.e. Use Lists > Named List Pane to open/close the pane. Thanks Mike - no i am not sure. I have clicked on the "named list pane" button on the menu bar in the records window and tried to open it from "View | Li...

Ancestors and relative lists for myself and wife
Hello, I expect it is me doing something silly but I have run the standard queries for Ancestors and All Relatives for both myself and my wife and ended up with unexpected results. I have spent some time yesterday and today before trying to do this reading the various knowledge base items and all th...

Re: Importing from Ancestry and merging records
Me too, David. Doesn't take long and is more reliable for me and my way of working. Provides a double check too. Anne I agree, that is what I usually do, however I currently have over 3000(!) hints on the part of my tree which is on ancestry so I wondered if there was a quicker way. It's not helped...

Re: Findmypast hints
Did you get anywhere with this? -- I am now experiencing the same problem. I did initially. CP then did some work on this and released the last update (6.2.6 I think) as a result of this work. It worked OK for a while but I have had a few problems since. I can't honestly say if they're still occurr...

Re: Importing from Ancestry and merging records
Oh yes, I downloaded them all whilst I could (I try and always download records I find to my computer and then add them to my tree)
Any record on a tree which doesn't have a source I either ignore or add a note "to be confirmed - from ancestry trees"

Re: Importing from Ancestry and merging records
Thanks Mike, I was expecting it to be a long job! I'll try and follow that process through and see how I get on. I realise that it would have been helpful to keep FH up to date on the fly, but in the timescales available it just wasn't practical. I had a huge amount of hints, many of which were very...

Importing from Ancestry and merging records
Hello, I have recently been doing a lot of work on Ancestry, where I have uploaded part of my tree prior to sharing it with a fourth cousin in Australia I have found. I've been taking advantage of the free access to commonwealth records on Ancestry over Easter (although they don't seem to think New ...

Re: Finding records with no flag
You can filter by as many flags as you want so, the simplest way is create a new custom Individual Query and Exclude if "flag 1" set Exclude if "flag 2" set etc Thank you Jane. I have done that and created my list of results and put them into a new named list. I thought I might be able to then add ...

Finding records with no flag
Hi all, I have 8 flags set up for different branches of my tree (not every grandparent because my maternal family line has two grandmothers as my mother's mother died when my mother was 3). I am going through my records to check which entries have a flag set prior to exporting a tree to Ancestry to ...

Find My Past hints new 'Reject' option
Hi all, I noticed just after Christmas that FMP hints now come up with a "Reject" option as well as a "Review" option. This is very useful for hints covering an area for which your subscription does not cover as otherwise you lose the hints page and it defaults to an "upgrade here" page. However, it...

Re: Findmypast hints
Hi all, It might interest some of you to know that Calico Pie have fixed this issue. It was a problem with the FMP cache file being locked when the cloud drive synchronised the file(s) with the cloud itself. After a couple of slightly false starts, CP have created an upgrade including a fix for this...

Re: Findmypast hints
I have varying numbers of hints obviously, but many of them I Have already accepted or rejected. I started by clicking on my father and had the birth, marriage and death all come up as new hints - I know I have already accepted them. I then accepted them again and the same three hints are still show...

I use pcloud drive for all my FH work as it has a free allowance of 10gb data. However, my file is nothing like as big as Barbara's!

I have noticed that the number of new hints has stopped decreasing when you look at them and accept/reject them. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

I've had the same trouble - I was planning to use this weekend to go through my hints and reject the ones which I can't normally reject because I don't have a world subscription!
I'll also contact FMP

Re: Restoring backup from laptop to desktop
Hi Mike As always it has to be something simple. In this case, I made the assumption that the restored project would take the "base name" and all earlier projects would (for want of a better way to describe it) go back one in the list. The moral of the story is never make assumptions, but that is ea...
