Re: Workhouse list
Hi Mike, thank you for your reply. What I wanted was both your suggestions really, giving their relatives as you suggest but it would also be good to give the relationship to our son, who is the root person of my program. A couple of the people are obvious direct line, but a couple are siblings of r...

Workhouse list
Hi, I am doing a genealogy course and included in this week's lesson is work on workhouses. For some time now I have been wishing to find all my people who ended in the workhouse. I used the standard query for finding text and brought up a list of people. Is it possible to make a report on the peopl...

Hello, this is not exactly a Family Historian question but I would be grateful for any opinions. I have used FH since it first came out and it is perfect for me. Along side I have intermittently used Custodian 4. However I am having problems with this. In a family history magazine I have just read a...

Hello, Following Mike's instructions supplied to me some time ago and using the two plugins for finding duplicate media and fixing links I have reorganized my media. Really pleased, thanks Mike and the plugin makers. There is just one thing which I am probably doing wrong. When I enter the photos I ...

Colour for families
Hello, I have looked through the wish lists and saw Mike's list of colour options. I could not find my specific requirements. In my paper system I have a colour for the four grandparent's families. All related lines linked to each family use their colour. Is it possible equate the families in Family...

Re: Tithe Commutation Act 1836
Hi, I posted the original request as I was researching a particular source for 1836. I applied the link given to the 1910 dates for another source and it was excellent. Not that I am very technically competent but I think it would work for any date. Thanks for the help, regards Ann

Tithe Commutation Act 1836
Hello, I am doing a course on using maps in family history. The current lesson is on the 1836 Tithe Commutation Act. In order to find the locations to study I need to know where my ancestors lived in 1836. I really do not understand how to construct expressions. I read the query help and looked at a...

Hello, I have a family some of whom use Pickering and some use Pickerill. Media List
Hello, I am sorry to be so basic but when I was reading about adding media it said that people liked folders for photos, certificate images, census images etc. I have looked in the topics but cannot find how to make these folders and as my media list is growing it would be useful to separate them. T...

Re: Censuses
Thank you Mike I will work on your suggestions. Also to do with census entries, in 1861 I have a family where the last child is listed as "son" (although mother is too old). In 1871 all the children have left except this child who is now listed as grandson. Looking on the Staffordshire bmd site his ...

Re: Censuses
Hello, thank you for the reply. I like to see the family listed in order. Recently going through some of my information I have discovered people who I now find are linked but for example are just listed as visitors or boarders in the censuses. It also helps to see who has come and gone from one cens...
