Re: Referencing Sources To Individuals
Thanks all plenty to think about. I’ll try the suggestions and see what suits best. The thought of just relying on a computer concerns me a little but I want an easy and manageable paper back up system.

Referencing Sources To Individuals
I am sure this would have been discussed previous but I can not find the appropriate entry. When I started my research I created a number of lever folders to safely store my paper documents originally 1 (but now 2) lever arch folders that contained my original source documents. I then copied any sou...

Re: Suggestion for Marking Individuals as Provisisonal in Tree
Saltrams, this looks like something that would be very useful to me. Not being very technically minded I am a little unclear as to how I go about completing the task you refer to Customise the Property Box by placing the following in the Property Box Caption for "Individual". Are you able to point m...

Re: To Do Lists
After a little work I think I have got to grips with setting up my To Do List and producing an associated query. In some of my tasks (e.g. General Info) I have a longish sentence and I am now having a little difficulty printing out my To Do list so I can read each of the tasks. As can be seen in the...

To Do Lists
How do people keep a track of what research they still need to do. I have downloaded and installed the to do list and tend to use it on a bit of an ad hoc way. I have also set up a separate excel spreadsheet to record what certificates I have for each individual. It works ok but is there a better wa...

Address / Place in Maps
This will have been discussed before but I dont seem to be able to locate the answer I need. I currently record my Address and Place records as follows for a residency fact. For one of my ancestor that lived between 1908 - 1992 I have recorded PLACE: Northampton, Northamptonshire ADDRESS: 62 Cyril S...

Duplicate Source Records
I have been reviewing my source records and found a baptismal record I have entered twice what is the best way to delete the most recent entry and renumber my sources so theat the source list is consecutively numbered without any gaps in the numbers.

Re: Reliance on subscription sites FMP, Ancestry etc.
I took "gowermick" suggestions and tried FamilySearch. What a good surprise lots of stuff on there. By chance I came across a webinar about to start and after an hour had learnt loads. Thumbs up for Family Search.

Re: Reliance on subscription sites FMP, Ancestry etc.
I am a little confused about the ability to obtain certificates and where from. Reading the original question and replies in this post and others it seems that the only place to obtain an actual certificate is from the GRO at some cost. I have only been researching my family history for a year so am...

Thanks for the reply. I will create a source and link a note Torbay source. Just for my clarification when you talk about adding a note I take it you mean just putting a comment in the note box.

Re: Create a custom Query
Mike Thanks for all your help I finally managed to look at your advice. I think the Comma separated CSV file will be the best option. I will then have to manipulate it to get what I want. Just a pity from my perspective that there's not the option to print to a word document. Maybe something for the...

Re: Create a custom Query
Since the previous posts I have had a computer crash but thankfully I have managed to recover all my files! How can I now print the TO DO LIST which appears as notes in my property box. Re: Create a custom Query
Once again thank you. I was working with the correct information but don't think I really understood what I was doing. I've installed the To Do tab in the property box and queries and will need to customize them to suit my needs. I knew the forum would come up trumps.

Create a custom Query
I have followed the instructions about "Create Custom Tab" relating to a "To Do List" for each individual in my tree and everything works fine. What I want to achieve from there is to create a custom query so I can pull all of the To Do Tasks into one document that I can print and use. I would like ...
