I took it to mean you paid normal price for the software, then an extra £50 for multi-user licence. Makes perfect sense to me

Re: Program installation location/Limitation
Sorry Nick, it still says per licence, not per user
As I said earlier, very ambiguous, but as neither us are in the market for one, I’ll leave it to those who have bought one to tell us what they mean

Nick,
CP’s guide on this is very ambiguous, but I read it as £50 per multiuser license, not £50 per user

Re: Generic Type
John, Although you have two generic sources for the birth, you DO NOT add a separate birth fact for each source. You have one birth facts, to which you attach two generic sources. i.e one fact, two sources You are confusing generic source with generic fact, but there is no such thing as a generic fa...

Pitfalls when Searching on Ancestry
I have been searching for PR Burial images on Ancestry, and was looking for James Harrison, buried 21 March 1865 at Manchester Catherdral, which I had previously found in their Manchester, England, Births, Marriages and Banns, & Deaths I selected England as place search criteria, which gave me no re...

Re: Generic Type
John, As Miketate said, a source can be used more than once for each individual, so in that sense, an individual may have duplicated sources, but used for different facts. e.g. a birth certificate can be a source for date of birth and place of birth. It may be the case however, that you have inadver...

Re: Sources
John, When you click add source, a dialogue box pops up, showing your list of sources. Rather than increasing column widths, try adjusting width of the actual dialogue box. I think column widths are controlled somewhat by the width of this box, if the box is too narrow, FH will be unable to show you...

Re: Counties
John, Lat & Long are added when a place is geo-coded. If you open maps, and show all places, there is a marker to the left of each name, which indicates whether they have been geo-coded. Those that are geo-coded will have a tick box, whilst those that need geo-coding will have a ? next to them. If y...

Re: Ancestry's "Historical Newspapers, Birth, Marriage, & Death Announcements, 1851-2003"
Adrian, coincidence or what? I just received an Obituary hint (for my mother!!, in their U.S., Newspapers.com™ Obituary Index, 1800s-current . This hint came from Ancestry.com, and for those with a worldwide subscription (which I don’t have), so couldn’t follow it up. It does beg the question why my...

Adrian,
Are you sure it wasn’t Findmypast?
I am currently checking for missing PR marriage images on line, using Ancestry & FMP, and have been presented with a few such notices over the past week, I’m not sure which site they came from, but I know one of them has them

Re: Media
Bill,
In your screenshot, bottom right, the filename is shown (in red), followed by its location. Sadly the location is truncated after
Media/anders.
You need to check that the untruncated location matches media/anderson_shepherd/documents, which is where these media files are located..

When I have an unknown, like a wife of John Brown, I enter her as “?? /Brown Nee ??/“, that way she sorts with the other Browns. Also if you click or Alt-click on any column heading, you can sort them in the order/reverse order of that column. I think John is talking about completely blank names tha...

Re: Default viewing
If you look at the property window for yourself, you will see (in your case) two tabs for your spouses, these are normally arranged in order of entry, which in your case is not what you want. BUT, to the right of the tabs, there are two curly up/down arrows, which can be used to alter the order of y...

Following the advice from Miketate, my problem is now sorted - size of backups backdown to 61Mbyte For information 1. All Webites are created in the Packages folder within the project, so will get added to every Full backup! 2. Every chart saved as a PDF, is saved to Public folder within the project...

I’ll give your suggestions a try, and report back
BTW, is this a recent change re snapshots? As I stated, I haven’t changed anything, so why is it happening now?

Backup size increasing
I've just noticed that my full backup has grown to 500Mb!!! , and don't know why, as I don't store any media in FH, haven't changed anything in my settings, and certainly haven't changed my way of working. I did a quick check for historical size of the backups and found the following: It grew from 8...

Re: Childless marriages
I’ve got in the habit of using a Media image to highlight certain people, like a Picture of a brickwall to indicate they are one of my ‘Brickwalls’. Would an appropriate image work for you? If you make it the first image, it will show up on focus page and diagrams.

Because of this I work from the Places Record List, with properties box open, clicking on the highlighted three dots takes you straight to an edit box as in the screenshot below. Re: Place records for places with no names
Peter,
As long as you use ‘Colchester…’ as the localised name so that it geocodes correctly, it really doesn’t matter what you call it, so may I suggest that a simple ‘Township…’ or ’ ‘Settlement…’ would suffice

Re: Diagram icons using expressions
Hilary, It may be the cause, because Death Cert doesn’t match Death. Try changing your query to look for Death , rather than Death Cert , that will match both Death and Death Cert. I do this all the time looking for specific places, I simply enter enough characters to limit the search. i.e. if looki...

Working with Places
When working with places, in the Place List dialogue box, top right is an Edit... button, which is slightly misleading, as it does not take you to where you can Edit the place, but simply opens the View/Edit Place Details dialogue box, where you have to click another Edit... button, to open the Edit...

TIP If the image is available to view on Family search, but restrictions prevent direct downloading, try Alt-Prtscn to take a screenshot. Then trim image in your editor of choice, many films are being made available for free download too.

Re: Connecting multiple copies of same source database
I agree with Lorna.if these different sites all use FamilySearch as their source, I just quote the film number from FamilySearch. I don’t bother stating whether I found the transcription on Ancestry, Fmp or whoever. NB the films images are slowly being made available on-line by Family Search, so hav...
