Re: Date phrase
I have learnt the hard way, that date ranges in a from-to scenario, requires that both the from date and to date are proper dates, and can be intrepreted correctly. So in the case of ‘April - June 1843’ ( i.e Q2) would fail because the ‘from’ date is simply April, not a real date! So the correct for...

Mark,
Jim was a bit ambiguous in his quesstion. Did he mean most recently added individual, or most recently modified?

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
Mike, I hear what you say, but giving direct access to the CHAN data tag could be problematical should things go wrong. My thinking is if the tags could be saved and restored only via dedicated functions, there would be no chance of mishaps. Also, once the functions existed, there would be no need f...

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
Mike, would such a routine(s) be a suitable option for a wishlist?
If CP could produce two such routines (save and restore), users could then include them safely at start and end of their plugin code, in order to preserve the CHAN entries, if needed! Just a thought

Re: Is there a way to stop/pause the CHANge time being updated.
Further to Nick’s reply, and contrary to Miketate’s reply, it would appear that one could therefore produce a plugin ( e.g. AS) that didn’t change the CHANge time/date, which is what Jim asked in the OP :D Not really as AS isn't a plugin. AS is a standalone program and would theoretically work alon...

Re: Entering gravestone with two names on it
Brent, Watching some TV programme, where archealogists were excavating an old graveyard, they created a 3D image of where people were found, and I was amazed at the way a fair number of bodies were stacked in a single plot. ( I don’t think I saw as many as 10, but it was a. lot more than I expected ...

Re: Source Records
The simplest and quickest way to spot these erroneous entries, is to scroll through the source records. In the Records window, select Sources Tab, click on Record ID column to sort them in ascending order. If you have property box All tab open, as you click on each source, all the Source details can...

Change the actions of the go-back / history list
FH keeps a track of records visited via the history or go-back list, activated by the back/forward arrows at top of property box.
If a record is deleted, this list is cleared by design.
May I propose that this list is retained throughout a session, and not cleared when a record is deleted.

Martin from CP has replied, stating that clearing the go-back list was by design.
He suggested if we didn’t want that to happen, to add it to the wish list!
I’ve added a new post to the wishlist.

Session History
As one works though individuals in a session, FH remembers them, and one can quickly go back and forward using the arrows at top of property box. Has anyone noticed that this history sometimes gets erased following deletion of an indivual? I haven't worked out the circumstances when this occurs, but...

Re: Census UK Tab - my take
There is no way, however, that I feel confident enough to upgrade to v7 which sounds marvellous but even more complicated so I am grateful that I can still get help for v6 and I do hope you never change that. Thanks again. Heather, As a user of V7, and one who also tries to keep it simple (I don’t ...

Re: Given Name Used
I found a ‘Sir Michael’ in my tree, who also had a son called ‘Sir Michael’.
My cousin Gladys was always referred to as Squib
My father-in-law was John William, but known as Jack, primarily because he had an elder brother called John Edward, they were sometimes known as big and little John!

Heathermary, In answer to your question, judging by previous posts on this thread, it would seem new tabs were available on V5 onwards, and was something I was unaware of until this post started! :D The newly created Tab can be customised to display most things you want. This post talks about Census...

John, Whilst I don't use Repositories as such, I think the same answer would apply Try 1. Widening the Select Repository dialogue box, 2. Widen the field listing the Repostory Records (place your cursor on bar separating the field titles, click and hold the mouse button, then drag this bar left/righ...

Re: Citations
John I think you must have adjusted the width of the source records field in the Select Source ... dialogue box, or even the dialogue box itself. For example, one of my sources reads "Ancestry - London and Surrey, England, Marriage Bonds and Allegations, 1597-1921 Image", and all this is visible in ...

Richard The Notes Tab in the records window are the Shared Note records , i.e. Note Records that can be shared with many individuals. They are not to be confused with the Notes you have created for an individual on their Notes Tab. Shared notes are created on the individual's Note tab when you selec...

Mark,
Judging from Miketate’s reply, you need to stop FH to clear the entries in the registry, so plugins wouldn’t work, as you need FH to be running in order to run a plugin

Re: 1841 census showing children who were dead
I've been using FreeBMD, Ancestry or FindMyPast for this none of which show the mother's maiden name. Another task to add to my to do list. Not strictly true. As far as FMP is concerned, they do show a lot more mothers maiden names than FreeBMD, who only show them from 1911. Furthermore, a lot of F...

Re: Details missing from named list
Further to Lorna’s answer, were you aware that if you Alt-Click on a column heading (i.e. Hold down Alt key when you click), the column will sort in reverse order, from Ascending to Descending, so in your case, your blank relationships will drop to the bottom.

Re: 1841 census showing children who were dead
I’ve seen similar on the 1911 census, where every child has been listed by head, with some marked dead. I simply ignored the fact they were shown, or may have even made a note against the person, stating they were shown on 1911 census in error. I did not add the census fact to them.

Re: Adding text to a diagram
I have never added a title to a diagram, but have to say that method is counter intuitive! In most applications if you add a text box EG Word/Excel/Paint etc as soon as you create the text box it is live and you immediately start typing with opportunity to format it for font, size, colour etc. I ca...
