Re: Mapping - existing, Map Facts, and Google Earth
What no one has mentioned so far (unless I missed it :D ), is that when you display your places on the map, and find a marker is wrongly geo-coded and so in wrong position, you can easily correct it yourself 1. By clicking the move marker icon, and dragging the actual marker to the correct place. 2....

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
So the Result Set had two columns: one faint plain text without ... of and one bold link with the ... of prefix. That is very strange, so as you say, keep an eye on it  No! The first (Text) column is now normal (i.e not feint) but without the ...of , but the second (buddy) column does not ap...

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
Something buggy seems to be going on with FH! I modified this query as Miketate suggested (Thanks Mike), to include the ‘buddy’ status, then ‘updated’ the query, which worked well for the remainder of yesterday’s session. When I opened FH this morning, the query had reverted to a non-buddy status, a...

Re: Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
It is now faint because it is just text and not a clickable record link as it was originally. To remove the ... of and allow it to be bold and clickable this is what you do. The first Column has the new MidText(...) function: =MidText(Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH.NOTE2%,"...

Amending Gedmatch Query (from Jane)
I am trying to tweek Jane's Gedmatch query, to amend the text shown for the Shared Couple. Re: GEDMatch Fact text problems
Helen, good point.
I have never had to consider ‘Rich Text’ special characters before, and as far as I was concerned Jane’s query was just extracting my plain text. One for CP perhaps?

Re: GEDMatch Fact text problems
Try using the \ escape character. Where exactly is your <1% text? Which field is it in and where are you displaying it? Diagrams, Reports, etc? You know all those details but we don't so are guessing a workaround. Why are you mentioning LUA? That only applies to Plugins. Thanks Mike, \ worked a treat

I’m not complaining, but why did CP feel the need to introduce another Language? What is wrong with wrinting plugins in C++? I would suggest that C++ has a greater userbase than LUA

Re: GEDMatch Fact text problems
Mike, Jane’s query that accompanies this fact, extracts the text and displays it in the resultset table! When I use the <, nothing displays. I’ll try the \ escape character when I’m back on my PC. ( I was using the extra < as an escape, but obviously it didn’t work  ) NB. I only mentioened LUA ...

GEDMatch Fact text problems
I am using Janes Gedmatch fact, and want to show %age as reported by Ancestry This works fine for 'Normal' %ages, but entering less than 1% as <1% won't work, as the < is treated as an ignore symbol i.e, Using <1% 24cM 2 Segs , fails to show anything. I know it is to do with way LUA treats text, but...

I think you're referring to the option to show spouses of the filtered surname. e.g. enter Smith into the filter box, you are presented with all individuals named Smith If you click the Options... box to the right, and select Include Husbands' Surnames , the list will change to include anyone marrie...

Re: recent update
I agree, it is a shame, but then most software developers fall into the same trap, if you upgrade via their own update mechanism. They tend to store the download into a temporary directory, which is often deleted after the upgrade has finished. What I tend to do, is go to their website and download ...

Go to your peinter makers website and download and install the latest driver for your model. I recently had some weird effects when printing after updating to Windows 11. All was sorted...

Helen, unless my eyes are deceiving me, you still show two full stops , which is what OP was complaining about. Yep, your eyes are the problem :D A quick check shows it hasn't been. Re: 7.0.15 end punctuation omission in reports?
Helen, unless my eyes are deceiving me, you still show two full stops , which is what OP was complaining about. Woodr wanted Washington D.C. not Washington D.C.. Personally, I think State codes like NC, SC and DC don’t use any punctuation. So North Carolina is NC not N.C. thus double full stops don’...

With reference to children being out of sequence, when you add a new child, you can position them correctly by using the up/down arrows on toolbar. For an existing child, just highlight it in the parents focus window, and then use up/down arrows. Likewise with spouses, to get them in chronological o...

Re: Another Findmypast 1921 census discount
One thing that I found different and extremely useful with this census, is that if you have Irish ancestors, their place of birth is more specific. Up until 1911 census, my great grandmother’s birthplace varied between Ireland and Cork, Ireland. The 1921 census narrowed it down to Skibbereen Parish,...

Could it be you already have the file in your media? Also it strikes me that the part of the file name beginning with GBPRS etc, may be the name of the file actually downloaded from whatever website you got it from. To my mind, saving this detail may be a waste of your time, as it doesn’t allow for ...
