So the individual would have a duplicate set of Ahnentafel numbers.
Lorna,
this could still occur if one of my fathers ancestors married one of my mothers ancestors, merging the two lines.
I wonder which one should take precedence

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column

Miketate,
I did not want the date printed in any row at any point. The census date is in the column header so would be redundant.
My query lists 4 outputs for each census year
1. X
2. Find
3. blank
4. Age

Re: Sending a Project to Another FH User

How much difficulty might they expect to encounter with my project because of differing program settings, e.g. because I use 6 part Place names and they don't? There is no such setting for Places. You can freely mix 6 part with 3 part etc, in the same project, with no problem. The reason most of us...

Re: Query to get just one line back

David,
No, I’m not that pedantic

I just use parish registers, GRO and censuses to confirm all my assumptions, as everone else does. I don’t have this evidencefor the step-father, so I’m waiting for a DNA match for descendants of his parents to confirm I’m descended from him.

Re: Query to get just one line back

So if we are apply Ahnentafel Numbers should we only do so as far back as we can "prove" the paternity and maternity - with sufficient reliable evidence etc.? Well, that's they way I've always worked :D One of my gt-grandfathers was illegitimate , and his mother married 'his father' shortly after h...

Re: Reasearch Notes - How do I use them?

Glenn, I use the generic text version of research notes, but with a twist. I use a custom ID for all my individuals so I begin each research note with this ID e.g. J394ab: What happened to John Smith after 1841 so that when I look at the notes in the records window, they are listed in order of their...

Re: Query to get just one line back

In a lot of adoptions, the birth mother's identity is not known . So, the only "parents" listed will be the adoptive ones - who will, therefore, be Parental Family[1]! Unless you create a birth family with an unnamed parent? Like I do with illegitimate children’s father, when just mother is known :D

Re: Any way to reduce horizontal scrolling on descendant chart?

For large families like that, perhaps you would be better working directly from the focus window instead of from the diagram. In the focus window, the family is neatly listed under the parents. Personally, I see no advantage of using diagrams to navigate/edit families rather than the focus window, a...

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column

Helen,
All I’m suggesting is that top level says Downloads, rather than Downloads/Plugins! It is the word Plugins in the title that puts me off. The rest of the menu structure is fine, and doesn’t need changing.

Re: Floating window problem

Once the Property Box is open then a single-click on a record or box will update the contents of the Property Box. As far as I recall, it has always been thus in FH. But not always in queries, which depend on column data settings, even when property box is open! In my "Missing Burials" query I Sing...

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column

But Queries ARE Downloads, Mike. We can't enumerate every type of download on the menu. It would get a bit long :) Pluginds ar elisted separately as the link takes you away from the KB to the Plugin Store. I know what you mean, but why is it headed Downloads/Plugins? Why not just Downloads ? This w...

Ok, but why are they listed with plugins? That just confuses people (i.e me :D ), who don’t associate queries with plugins!

Makes more sense to list them as FHUG > Knowledge Base > Downloads/Queries

Re: Floating window problem

Miketate, The census age query we discussed recently, suffers from the same. I.e. I have to Double-click the name to get property box to open. I need to look at the query ( not on PC at present), to see what the name column actually contains. That may give us a clue as to when double-clicking is nee...

Miketate,
I agree, I even had trouble finding it again :D
I resorted to my browser history to find where I got it from. I really couldn’t recall what search term I had used!

BTW is there somewhere that lists ALL queries available for download?

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column

Interesting! Why do you choose to use only explicit Birth Dates instead of Estimated, but do use Estimated Death Dates? Have you considered the following more compact function instead of the nested TextIf(...) function: CombineText( , %INDI.CENS[year=1841].AGE%, , " find " ) Also, by using DateAt(1...

Re: censuses - query with different values for an output column

There is a CensusMissingAges query downloadable from the knowledgebase, which I have modified and which gives a result similar to what you're after. For each census year, it gives the following entries for each individual: 1. x means not relevant, individual was not alive on census date 2. Blank , i...

You can configure the colums for the Individuals Records, to include any fact e.g. Divorce Date event. This Presumes everyone with a Divorce Event will also have a Divorce Date. You can then click on this column heading to sort them in ascending or descending order, to bring those individuals with a...

Brent,
Error 500 is for unexplained problems encountered in the distant server, i.e. at FMP end.
I don’t think there is anything you can do at your end to solve the problem.
As has been said before, most probably FMP overloaded!
