Re: Wrong language used in DVD/Website Creation
I have reported it to CP (Ticket 580934) as I think it is a bug during creation of the website When I examined the statistics for the two websites created for my grandsons,( which should be the same) I found one (the good one) had 100 Pages, 5296 People and 1252 Picture whereas the 'Kanji' one has 4...

Re: Wrong language used in DVD/Website Creation
Mike, I generated another website, and whilst using it, the text on individual sheets displayed normally, but then suddenly started displaying in 'kanji'. The invidual shows correctly in one tree, but Kanji in the new one tree. I have attached the dodgy one for you to view NBI tried attaching the bo...

Re: Wrong language used in DVD/Website Creation
It may not be 'Kanji', but definitely an oriental character set. I'll send a copy if it happens again.
But as luck would have it, it hasn't happened for the past four or five rebuilds

Simple when you know how - Thanks again Mike
NB Too much trouble going down the plugin route, this method works fine for both existing and future Research notes.

Wrong language used in DVD/Website Creation
I have an intermiitent problem, whereby a website is created where Individual reports are shown in Kanji characters rather than English. Homepage, Research Notes and the actual list of Individuals show alright, but clicking on an individual bring up a page of Kanji characters. I tried examining an i...

Re: Research Notes when creating a DVD/Website
Thanks Mike,
[E=Recordid()] did the trick Title now simply shows Exx with the text below.
BTW, All my research notes begin with a title ending with a colon. Is their way I can extract this text to show as the title in a similar manner to above?

Research Notes when creating a DVD/Website
I have lots of research notes that I have included in a new DVD/Website, but am having a problem with the resulting layout. A typical research note is J00070 William Moore: Where was he in 1901 This research note in displayed in the DVD as follows: research Note.jpg Is there any way to stop the text...

Re: Citing English Census
First off, we normally refer to individual Countries (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) rather than UK. Then in descending order county, then town/city/hamlet. Like the USA we normally quote them in ascending order. ( Town, County, Country). The additional information you quoted, which is found ...

Re: Quality of media images in diagrams
I am wondering why you you trying to view the image in a diagram? In the Property Box > Media tab do you see a thumbnail of the image? If yes, select it, then click the black arrow in a green circle to "Open in Editor/Player" at full original resolution. Trevor, I was sending a PDF of a diagram to ...

Re: Ancestor & Descendant Diagram options
Mike, try adjusting the Diagram > Options > General tab settings for Use Fork Style for LInes Connecting Ancestors . If you untick Except for 1st Row of Ancestors then the double lines are replaced by a single line for the parents. If you untick Use Fork Style for LInes Connecting Ancestors then al...

Re: Ancestor & Descendant Diagram options
Thanks Helen,
I was curious why it’s only their parents that have the double line, all other couples have a single line - don’t worry, it’s not that important, I can live with it. Perhaps I’ll ask CP why it should be so

Ancestor & Descendant Diagram options
I have produced an Ancestor and Descendants diagram for one of my grandsons, (whick luckily includes his brother) but their parents are connected by a double line, not too disastrous in itself, but is there any way I can change this line to a single line, to be consistent with the rest of the diagram?

Re: Emigration Fact - Copying and Using Both Copies
One does wonder why you want an Immigration AND an emigration fact. Surely an emigration from one place means an immigration to another. So an Emigration fact, which contains both From and To places, covers both events. My great uncle emigrated from London to NZ, which naturally meant he immigrated ...

Re: Place numbers ie "P" numbers
Or you could make use of the map.
Open map, tick the marker for the place, goto the marker/place on the map, then click on it. This will then open a list of all events/facts associated with the place. Double click on the entry and the property box for the person will open.

Only one way to find out - give it a try, at worst it will only apply from this point onwards, but you never know, it may apply retrospectively, you’ve nothing to lose!

Re: Quality of media images in diagrams
I'm getting a little lost between the two parallel threads, but earlier Mike (L) talked about generating his diagram as a single page image measuring 150" by 68". Printing that to PDF at high resolution is an absolutely enormous image! Your point? My computer handles it easily :D Echoing Mike T's c...

Although FH doesn’t check for inconsistent data once entered, a very good (free) product that does, and hasn’t been mentioned, is FTAnalyser . I now run this once every couple of months, and it does a very good job! You can just as easily run the FH Query > Facts and Events > Fact Date Warnings but...

Re: Quality of media images in diagrams
I've performed some similar experiments with the same results. Even if an image is inserted into Diagram as a Picture and looks OK, when saved to PDF the resolution is still poor. Mike, That's not my experience. I inserted the Baptism image into the chart, and shrunk its size approaching height of ...

Re: Quality of media images in diagrams
Mike, Nothing seems to work. 1. I can view image on media tab of individual and it zoom in ok. 2. I can insert it directly into a diagram and it zooms ok 3. When image is attached to an individual, it becomes blocky, regardless of Diagram Image size setting. I tried increasing image size to 24", and...
