John,
It would make more sense if you told us where you were right-clicking. The action of right click varies depending on where your cursor is
e.g. on desktop it does one thing, in file explorer another.
To be honest, I didn’t find Win11 much different from Win10

Re: Mapping ancestors through time
Contrary to what Themoudie said, FH does have a good mapping facility. You can produce a Map in FH that marks all the places an Individual has associated with their facts you have.entered. (I have done this for my fathers travels during WW2) The only thing lacking is a way to mark them chronological...

Re: Query filter concatenation
At a quick glance, when you think about it, the 1st criteria selects only those whose researchnote.place contains Rowley, therefore none of their researchnotes will be Null, so 2nd test is redundant!

Re: Query filter concatenation
I’m afraid your logic is wrong. What you are actually doing in your 2nd expression is adding From All Recotds , any record whose note contains rowley, i.e add more records to the resultset to those already found by 1st exoression. What you need to do is to exclude from the records found by 1st expre...

Re: Amended GRO birth record
Except that you can't search the GRO site without a surname. I suggested FreeBMD because you can use just the date and reference (and district if you wish) so as to see what names come up. At FreeBMD you can of course follow the links to see an image of the old GRO printed/handwritten index for any...

Re: Amended GRO birth record
I’d check the official GRO website, for both entries, may make more sense. I had a similar problem recently when a birth on FreeBMD was registered in 1858, when their birth/Baptism year was in 1855. When I checked GRO website for correct year/Quarter, the entry pointed me to the later entry. E.g. 18...

Re: Robert Brent M.D. (1819-1872)
Had a result from the whowhenwhere website, where someone kindly posted a newspaper article about Louisa’s 2nd marriage in 1892. Fills in a few blanks about Robert Brent, who is described as late Colonel of the 1st VB Devon artillery. I then did a google search for Robert, and actually found a photo...

Re: Robert Brent M.D. (1819-1872)
As Robert was in the Army, depending on when he joined is possible that for his first marriage he had no got permission from the Army to marry, so even though the marriage was legal, he would of married again but this time with permission from the Army. Thanks Tim, I haven’t found a military connec...

Re: Robert Brent M.D. (1819-1872)
In answer to Lorna & RS3100, According to the censuses, they both would have been over 21 on both marriages, and I have found no evidence of a previous marriage for either party. Louisa is with her father in 1841 (aged 26), and although that does not show marital status, she is shown with surname Fo...

Re: Robert Brent M.D. (1819-1872)
Are the two marriages the same denomination? Can you evidence of two daughters with similar names. Both in parish church, so assume C of E. No evidence of two different daughters, but had that been the case, Robert would not be single on 2nd marriage. (unless he told porkies) I can only assume they...

Re: Places and addresses
I understand your rules, Mick, I just prefer to use the columns in the same order that you would normally write an address. And it's easy enough to sort on the colums on the Work with Data/Addresses form, or knock up a quick query for a more detailed analysis. But when the first element of an addre...

Re: Places and addresses
I think Places have to stick to a strict rule for geocoding purpose, and the fact that Place records are identified by their content. I don’t think this is the case for addresses, at least I never concerned myself which item goes where. The only rule I stick to is to have the Street name first, so t...

Re: Naming and organising digital copies of old photos
Adrian, I’m reluctant to use FH ID, as I don’t control it, and worry it may change outside my control, and is completely arbitrary. I assign a custom ID to every person I enter into my tree. The ID is based on the ahnentafel number (AN) of the individual, relative to the root of my tree. I start by ...

Re: Naming and organising digital copies of old photos
I give everyone a custom ID, and start each filename with this. Eg. J00234ab John Smith Wedding 1905 J00445ac Christening entry for Rebecca Long Using a unique custom ID means I don’t have to further identify which John Smith or Rebecca Long I’m referring to. It works for all files relating to the i...

Re: Changing Default Colours for website creation
To apply such Colours to a new website, use the Copy... button instead of the New... button. Then when you edit the 'new' website all its settings will get changed except for the Colours inherited from the original website. I recognise that does not work with established websites. Your idea of over...

Doesn't Copying a Website package copy the colours? So you could create a package with you most commonly used settings including the colours, and copy that, then customise the copy to create a new website. Better than messing around with css. Helen, Good thinking, a lot better way of doing it. A go...

Re: Changing Default Colours for website creation
Mike, it is frustrating to come up with a decent colour scheme, then not being able to apply it to other websites. Changing Default Colours for website creation
During the creation of a website, at stage 7, one has option to change colours, including Restore Defaults.
What I can't find is a way to change/set the default colours, i.e. is there a hidden Set As Default option I missed?

Re: Too many Occupation facts
Paula, If as I suspect, they are for different censuses, simply change the date for one of them to a date range, then delete the others entries e.g you have three facts for the same occupation in 1841,1851 & 1861 censuses, change the date for the 1841 fact to read 1841-1861 , then delete the occupat...
