Re: Divisions in York Electoral Registers

Thanks for that Adrian

Unfortunately the Register goes straight in without any preamble or glossary so what circumstances lead to Sarah being "demoted" to division 4 remains a mystery at the moment, unless of course it reflects the woes of the local football team!

Divisions in York Electoral Registers

Can anyone explain the reason for the Divisions as seen in the York electoral registers.

The attached image shows Sarah Burchell in Occupiers - Division 4 in the 1901 register but was in Division 3 in 1900 - still at the same address.

Many thanks
Brian

Mike, now that you've pointed that out I'm a bit puzzled too.

Anyway thanks once again for your assistance.

Re: Chart to show residents or events at a location

Mike I was using the same format as in the successful "Events Near" query. Capture.JPG So my filters in my Individuals Location query were as follows Capture1.JPG Needless to say your suggestions work a treat. I had looked at the help page for the function but didn't realise or wasn't sure how to ne...

Chart to show residents or events at a location

I'm having a modest amount of success in developing a query (Individuals location) to produce a chart to show individuals who had events or residency associated with a particular village. Re: Recording grave location

Got it Mike, thanks very much.

Changed the Normal Time Frame from Life to Post Death, refreshed the properties and the move arrows became active again.

Once again thanks for your help and patience.

Re: Recording grave location

Mike, I've tried the Enhanced death and Burial fact set and it seems to work fine for my purposes. A quick few entries of known family grave plots responds as anticipated with a custom query so happy with that. Just to be awkward I'd like the Grave Location fact to be after the Burial fact Capture.J...

Re: Recording grave location

Mike, I'd been using Place as in the Town or Village of the location of the church, in this instance Brighouse West Yorkshire and the Address as the Name of the church - St Martins. I didn't know if it was possible to set up a query using Place/Address/Note to drill down to see if there were multipl...

Recording grave location

I'm wanting to record the location of several graves (plot numbers) in a particular graveyard as I believe this could be another route for research and potential unsuspected relationships. The default Burial fact set does not seem to support this function, however there was an Enhanced Death and Bur...

Re: Attempting to create a Hospital Admission fact

Mike,

Following my report to CP I got the following reply from Martin

"So why can't you specify 'Cause' as a required field for the Facts tab? I can't think of any good reason. We have made a note to look at that. Thank you for raising this issue."

So fingers crossed

Re: Attempting to create a Hospital Admission fact

Thanks Mike for your usual quick reply. Yes I had deleted the spurious Death facts I'd created. As you say, the risk of confusion awaits! What a cock-eyed way of entering the cause via the back door so to speak! I must admit I'd never really given the All tab much attention, let alone right clicking...

Attempting to create a Hospital Admission fact

I'm trying to create a Hospital Admission fact. I initially though of copying the standard Death fact and altering the sentence template to suit along the lines of: Individual was admitted to address on date for treatment of cause . A fact for imprisonment would follow a similar structure, and in my...

Mike, thanks.

So simple. I've got to admit that never crossed my mind. I've passed on your solution, hopefully that resolves it.

Much appreciated

Query results without text

I am asking this on behalf of a friend who also uses FH v7 Since they upgraded to V7 they have noticed that their query results do not have the textual name of the INDIvidual. For example, running the Immediate Relations query produces - 0D22ED6E570245F2996A56AD0FAD2ADB.png Clicking on the INDIvidua...

Re: A moment of levity for 2021 or is it?

Cheers I'm tempted to leave it in as an "Easter egg" for anyone searching their "wino" forbears and a nod to the undoubtedly formidable ladies of the Methodist Church Bazaar and their Temperance Hotel. I trust they will stop spinning in their graves at some point! I shall review my researches with a...

Re: CSV date issues in spreadsheets

Yes, I'm starting to navigate my way round the problem and learning new skills along the way!
Why on earth was 1900 ever seen as the start of all recorded time??

Cheers

CSV date issues in spreadsheets

I'm attempting to use data exported from from FH in csv format to populate a spreadsheet allowing me to manupulate the dates to link up with some external data. Re: Places, Addresses and Notes

Mike Discarding the Place as being 'All Things to all Men ( or persons if you prefer)' option, I had a try with the shared source via citation route and that seems to work quite well. Places, Addresses and Notes

I'm interested to know how others deal with this issue. Many of my ancestors' dwellings or places of note have been redeveloped over the passage of time into car parks or supermarkets or whatever. I'd like to be able to make reference to this when inputting facts but as far as I can see I am only ab...

Re: Displaying dates of death of siblings in Properties Facts window

Could well be the issue Mike and if that's the case I'm going to take it as getting away lightly.

I'm assuming that the backup you're invited to do when changes have been made to FH does not include registry changes that are incorporated in the Backup and Restore process when the plugin is run

Re: Displaying dates of death of siblings in Properties Facts window

Mike,Lorna thanks. The spurious facts have now been tamed but unfortunately the military hints are still being a tad shy. Specifically re-ran the restore plugin and repeated the registry data keys option - still the same result. It's not a game changer more a niggle but still a puzzle none the less....

Displaying dates of death of siblings in Properties Facts window

Having recently swapped PCs and imported (successfully I thought) FH onto a new model I was somewhat surprised to find that with some ancestors the Properties Fact was displaying siblings' deaths even before the particular relative was born.
