Re: Understanding FH Queries
Thank you to those who gave me guidelines on how to remove my empty Died facts - like many others I am sure, I do prefer not have have calculated births and deaths if I actually have baptisms and burials and are never likely to have correct birth and death dates.

Re: Understanding FH Queries
I confess to having the same issues - I too come from TMG (and a number of other programs previously) and have a reasonable amount of experience amending other databases. I understand database concepts but the particular formatting in FH requires a lot of learning. When I imported my data, a Died fa...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Thanks so much for putting time and effort into this one Mike - its already very useful to me.
For the future, if both possible and desirable for others... can the individuals shown be clickable ie. click or double click changes the property window to these individuals?
kind regards
Marlene

Re: Extra Windows
Thank you Trevor - yes I have, but for me its not ideal. I hate having to flip back and forth between windows becuase I cannot see all I want to at once - in the diagrams my large families take the whole width of the screen and its back to the mouse all the time to get into editing mode.

Re: Extra Windows
Mike - that plugin sounds ideal. I am coming from a TMG background where I could have multiple small windows on the screen at the same time and I value not having to lose the view of one set of information when I click to see another. I find that FH is very mouse orientated - often my tab and enter ...

I prefer lists rather than diagrams... t...

Re: Children with Place of birth etc
Thank you Mike - that is very useful indeed. I have installed it, learnt about putting Plugins on the tool menu in the process, and am sure that I will use it frequently. Thank you for your time and effort to help on that one.

Re: Children with Place of birth etc
Thank you Jane and Mike - Mike I had already customised the Property box as you suggested, but was trying to get a sense of a families movement in a glance and get away from clicking 12 times for those large families! Jane, I have also been trying out the diagrams - I will see if I can have differen...

Children with Place of birth etc
From my reading I don't think that these are possible - can someone please confirm that it is the case? I want to see the place of baptism for all the children of an individual - - not possible in the focus window - not possible Property Box | Main tab | Children area - not possible to make Custom t...

Re: Focus Window display of Spouses of children & siblings
Indeed, I was not suggesting it be removed, and I have found the option you mentioned thank you Mike. I like to have a lot of windows open at one time and sometimes there just is not enough room to see what I want to see, when I want to see it. Hence the request.

Record List to Focus Window
Listers 1. Is there a way to make a double click on an Individual Record show that individual in the Focus Window as well in the Property Window? 2. And, is there a way to customise the columns in the Childrens list in the property window? I have read the Topic concerning display of childrens spouse...

Just thinking of how I tend to describe the reliability of my information and trying to improve my practice. I will use the notes instead.

Re: Census Data references
That has been very useful - thank you. I am addicted to making my screens just so and although I was using the Data Reference Assistant I was getting the 'linked to other' errors and couldn't quite get there. Thank you again - I will continue fiddling.

Thank you Bill. That is it exactly. Can you easily explain to me why it is NOTE2? I am just a beginner at the data references but can see that I will use them a lot to customise my property box tabs

I am trying to customise a Property Box tab to show the notes part of a census tag and cannot quite get it together. something like INDI.CENS[year=1841].NOTE[1]>TEXT% which does not work. I want to use the notes field to show recorded place of birth, rather than make a new alt birth field. Can anyon...

Re: Function keys capability - to Record Window
Mike
All is as you describe but it still goes to the default Windows 10 dialogs. Looking online, many have solved the problem by setting the exe to run as administrator - I have done this, restarted my computer but to no avail. UAC is disabled.

Hi Mike That might be very useful but in the meantime, the script already provided will do it for me. However, I can see its loaded but any invocation of Win + a key goes to the default Windows settings eg Win + I goes to Windows Settings. I too was a very happy user of TMG and used several features extensively. So gave up BUT I have now gone back to FH and tried again. True there are some th...

I would like to be able to use just one key to access sections of the Record Windows. eg F2 takes you to the Record Window | Individuals and places the cursor in the Last Name search box. F3 to Record Window | Notes | Note Starting F4 to Record Window | Sources | Title and so on. This would be so mu...
