Change template for existing source
I cloned an existing source template and want to change the template for a number of source records with the old template to the new one. Afterwards I can change the new template and sync the changes.
But how do I change the template of an existing source?

Re: Change text of witnesses in facts tab
Yes, they don't. I've reported that to CP and they say it's an ongoing effort.
So, I resorted to trying it by changing fact tab display options, but can't seem to find how to change them for witnesses.

Change text of witnesses in facts tab
Is it possible to override the standard text for a witness showing up in the facts tab of an individual?
This, in view of language adaptions.

Re: Changing fact summary template unexpected result
I have reported it.
Thanks for the workaround.
I wonder, wouldn't Gehuwd met {%CUR_PRIN2.NAME[1]%} not just always return the first spouse?

Changing fact summary template unexpected result
I changed the marriage fact summary template to accommodate for Dutch. Instead of married to xyz, I expected : Gehuwd met {spouse/her/him} to do what I want. But, only the text part is displayed and no spouse. I understand that one might argue which spouse (1, 2, 3...). But when used in the sentence...

Search and Replace message about new line
I tried to use Search and Replace to change some Fact notes:
Replace:
Text1
Second part
By:
Text1 and second part
I get the attached message and don't see what to change to get it working.

Re: How to build a "media catalog" in FH
What might work is an Individual record with custom facts that describe the topic with Media attached to the facts. Then a Narrative Report would incorporate the sentences from those facts and their Media. The sentences could mostly be derived from rich text in the Note box of each custom fact. Tha...

Re: section function in sentence not working?
Yes Mike, I came to exactly the same solution. There was no reason duplicate the {=Section(%FACT.NOTE2%,1,"|")} part. As to the use of the GetLabelledText function (with autotext) . I use that too (in some situations), but it sometimes feels like a gun to kill a fly. A birth fact for example might s...

Re: How to build a "media catalog" in FH
I've been experimenting with the blank diagram but, sadly, it's not what I want. As far as I can see it doesn't give access to FH's media library. Any pictures you want displayed have to be linked to external files. In that case I might as well use a Word document, include the pictures and the text ...

Re: section function in sentence not working?
I use the note field to describe the relation of the witness(es) to the married couple. Something like: "father of the bride" or "brother of the groom, father of the bride and the mothers of bride and groom".

Re: section function in sentence not working?
I understand the problem now. A strategy could have been to ignore everything between the <> when one of the fields doesn't exist, but that's evidently not what CP chose. My bad. Translated the sentence is: {individual} married {spouse/her/him} {date} {address} {place}< with as witness {role(single)...

Re: section function in sentence not working?
@Mike I ran into a (for me) mysterious problem. The previous statement worked. But I now used it in: {individual} trouwde {spouse/her/him} {date} {address} {place}< met als getuige {role(single)=getuige} {=Section(%FACT.NOTE2%,1,"|")}>< met als getuigen {role(plural)=getuige} resp. {=Section(%FACT.N...

Re: Usage of Cause in Death fact
Mike, referring to your BTW: What would be the data reference to replace FactValue(%FACT%) in a sentence like: {date} {place} {=Section(FactValue(%FACT%),1,"|")} {individual} {=Section(FactValue(%FACT%),2,"|")} It's a pity that FH only have used Cause in the Death fact, but who know, maybe some day....

Re: How to build a "media catalog" in FH
Yes, I've been playing with the report and trying all variations of the options, but... it's not really what I mean. Say one has 100 pictures about 10 different topics. Some of the pictures are linked to sources and some linked to facts/events. My first problem is that I would like to write a story ...

How to build a "media catalog" in FH
I have, for some family lines, a lot of historic pictures. Some of which I use to link them to people, events and sources. But when defining a report and/or a book or web site it would be great to have a separate chapter with the pictures accompanied with the notes/stories entered in FH (with the ne...

Yes Adrian, good examples of good use of the field and indeed using the All tab is not meant to enter data on a regularly basis (one forgets and it's error prone).

Re: Usage of Cause in Death fact
@Lorna: Yes, I know about the All tab, but I would like it to be available in the facts tab to be used as a field for other events as well. And, I can't see how. @Peter: Thanks for the GEDCOM check. It supports (I think) my point that it should be available to all event facts to be used in sentence ...

Usage of Cause in Death fact
I'm wondering how specific the Cause field is. In a query it exists for all facts (as opposed to the Value field, I don't see it) but apart from the Death fact it seems unusable (and inaccessible) for all other facts?
Is it a special case or am I missing something?

Re: section function in sentence not working?
Thanks Mike, I need better glasses. However, the example expression works, but what I want to accomplish doesn't and I don't know what's wrong with: {date} {place} {=Section({=FactValue(%FACT%)},1,"|")} {individual} {=Section({=FactValue(%FACT%)},2,"|")} The idea is to split the fact value in two pa...
