Re: Show a plugin prepared citation

I am missing something. I have a pointer pMedia to a media record. I can set the file name as the media title with: pFile:MoveTo(pMedia,'~>FILE') local pTitle = fhNewItemPtr() pTitle:MoveTo(pFile,'~.TITL') fhSetValueAsText(pTitle,sTitle) But setting the date with: dDate = fhGetValueAsDate(fhGetItemP...

Re: Show a plugin prepared citation

Yes Helen, I've considered that approach too, but I'm not sure about how to improve on my workflow and optimize the usage of the DEA. In essence what I do is: 1. Use WieWasWie to get the transcription of the data 2. Create a source from template 3. Start my plugin (DEA) to process this data 4. Follo...

Re: Show a plugin prepared citation

Yes Mike, and since I use external files and in this workflow the path is still unknown, the only option would be to ask the user to enter the path. This however, would nullify the potential workflow benefit. Another option might be a slightly modified version of the Rename Source Media plugin (say:...

Re: Show a plugin prepared citation

Hi Helen, About your suggestion to also add the media when the plugin creates the source record. Maybe, with a slight change of my workflow, it could work. But I need some help here. The data available at the moment I create the source (related to the Media record) is: 1. Name of media record (= Tit...

Re: Copy source titles to filenames

Based on the Rename Source Media plugin, I have written a plugin to rename the Media name and filename of a user selectable number of sources. I named it Rename Selected Source Media and in my projects it does what it's supposed to do. The plugin is attached for anyone to try. Suggestions for improv...

Copy source titles to filenames

Does a plugin exist that, for a selection of sources, copies the source title to the linked filename (if any) and also to the media name of that file.
Or is there another easy way to get this done?

Re: Show a plugin prepared citation

I changed the plugin to the DEA type, created a source and ran the DEA. The prepared citation screen I ended up with was blank prepared citation window (a new empty extra source was created) , but the intended source was generated correctly. So everything seems to work except the creation of an extr...

Re: Show a plugin prepared citation

Hi Helen, Too bad, there isn't. I've been considering a result set also, but it's not better than what I do now (select the newly generated source in the yellow auto bar on top). I'll checkout the DEA approach; good idea. As to why the plugin doesn't add the media: The plugin is written for www.wiew...

Show a plugin prepared citation

I have a plugin that, based on the content of the clipboard, neatly creates a templated source record. But I have to select the newly created source myself to check it and add things like media. Is it possible to add a statement to the plugin to have the created source selected and shown by the plug...

Re: Lua pattern match question

Thanks Mike!

I never realized that Search and Replace could also change File Links. Indeed a far better approach, which I'll use in the future.

For now I'll use the pattern you suggest and get things in sync again.

Re: Lua pattern match question

I changed the filenames of the media files in Windows (en masse) from the old structure to the new one. Hence I had to do the same in FH with the links (Media record Titles are not touched). So using the very versatile Search an Replace plugin to change (en masse) the links seemed the best approach....

Re: Lua pattern match question

Yes Mike, I am talking about Search an Replace and am using it to synch changed names of windows files to links in the FH database. The file names are now: last name, first name - yyyy-mm-dd - tekst; place (with 'tekst' containing a first part that's systematically used) In FH the references are: la...

Re: Lua pattern match question

As always, right after asking the question I found an answer: (.-)- (.-) (.-)%s%- (persoons%w+) %1- %2 - %4; %3 Did what I wanted. I had been trying: (.-)- (.-) (.-) - (persoons%w+) but that didn't work. Changed it to the above and it did. However, don't know why. :) BTW the 'persoons' part is just ...

Lua pattern match question

I am trying a search and replace where the string is: aa, aa - dddd-dd-dd bb - cc into: aa, aa - nnnn-nn-nn - cc; bb a, c being any alpha character, b also, but may contain spaces, ' or - and d is a digit. I have no problem doing it in regex, but can't get it done in Lua. Help is much appreciated.

Changing the columns of children in property box

When adding children to a couple I would like one extra column in the list of children: the Place where they were born. Many documents specify a couple and their children with their names, birth date and birth place. Now I have to go to the property box for each child to enter the birth place. It wo...

Re: Change template for existing source

I understand and tried it, but the test:

if pTemplate == pOldTemp then
local pSourceLink = fhGetItemPtr(pSource,'SOUR._SRCT')
fhSetValueAsLink(pSourceLink,pNewTemp)

ends up in the else branch (although pTemplate and pOldTemplate appear to be the same).

See attachment.

Re: Change template for existing source

To expand on my search for an answer: I wrote a compact script that - I assumed - would do the trick. But, I must have done something wrong since I can't get it to change the source's template. Any help would be greatly apricated! The script is: function main() local pOldTemp, pNewTemp local pt = fh...
