Re: move person/s from project to another project
I appreciate your comments. Being an ex-The Master Genealogist user, where you could have separate projects yet the persons in other projects could be viewed from other projects. So in my case I kept my family in one project whilst other Kain's were in another. But this doesn't work in Family Histor...

Re: move person/s from project to another project
Hello,
That's the way I've been doing it but just thought there might be an easier way.
Thank you.

Re: Renaming/editing a citation source
Mike, Thank you.
It did take me three minutes to find a person using the source title in question.
I'm surprised they (citation sources) are not listed in Tools, Work with data.

Renaming/editing a citation source
Hello readers, I have source with the wrong title. Or would like to rename it to something more appropriate. If I go to the individual screen at the bottom I click on Add Citation. A list of citation titles come up but I'm confused by the icons. The first row is Filter: Title/Short Title then Author...

Another alternative though an expense is to have a second screen. I've been using a second for over a year now and it works wonders.

Re: Repeat census entries
Thank you for the replies.
I must get my eyes retested as Close on 'Save Entry to File'? is on the first menu after opening Ancestral Sources and I've never noticed it despite looking in all the other options.
Another success to the Forum.

Repeat census entries
I am new to Ancestral Sources (two weeks) so bear with me please. I input the data etc in a census then when I've finished I save the file and AS asks me a few futher questions one (from FH) being to reload the file. Then if I have more data to put in I have to reload AS, select the option I want. F...

Re: Duplicate id numbers
Hello Mike, The popup message when using merge/compare recommends validating files. It does not imply FH will create errors. Further, I found the instructions about adding a GED.com file to an existing project a little confusing. Hence the problems I did incure. But, from what I have done all seems ...

Re: Duplicate id numbers
Hello Mike, I think I've solved the problem. I deleted the effected persons along with the added media pictures. Closed the and saved the file. Reloaded and did a validate on both files to merge which I did not do originally. This time the three new persons did have different id numbers. So far so g...

Re: Duplicate id numbers
Hello Mike, Thank you for replying to my problem. I don't like to contradict you but, I believe I did use the merge/compare option. Either way I do have duplicate id numbers and am being asked to validate the data and spending a lot of time trying to sort the problem out. Several persons are now get...

Duplicate id numbers
Hello readers,
I have just imported a GED file into Family History 6 of three persons. Now I have id numbers 1-3 duplicated. On clicking Individual recoreds - Records Window with new id 1 I get the original existing person with id 1.
How can I renumber just the latest import persons?

Narrative report in a book query
Helloreaders, I am using Family Historian version 6.2.0 I have created a simple book which includes a descendants narrative report of 5 generations. Reading through it there are children with a number to the left of their name which is there number relating to them further in the report. But, the fi...

Re: How to view Accepted hints
I tried that suggestion and yes, it works I can now view the Accepted hints but, now have to go back to preferences and reset it to Rejected to see those and then back to preferences change it all to view New hints on the other members of the family. Could we not have the icon to HINTS then select w...

Re: text gets deleted from citation text
It was in the individual view, with the facts tab selected, with a death fact with a blue dot selected. At the bottom of the individual view there are sources for (Death*) at the bottom of this view there is a Text From Source with some text already in the box. I clicked on right hand icon to get th...

text gets deleted from citation text
I'm using Family Historian 6.1.4
After editing the citation text in sources on the person screen, all the text got deleted.
Having gone to another person and gone back the problem is no longer there, it edits correctly.
Any ideas what may have gone wrong?

Re: Using a laptop or notebook for Family Historian
Hello all, I have now bought a DVD drive, be it for £29.99. The drive was bit slow and not showing on Windows Explorer, but I persisted then the drive showed along with the files then disappeared. Tried again and everything now OK with drive. Now installed Family Historian 5 from the DVD which also ...

Re: Using a laptop or notebook for Family Historian
Hello readers, Thank you for the replies and I appologise for delay, but I have had trouble topping up my EE Mobile Broadband account. Even now the EE MyAccount is stating that I have an Apple iPhone 6 and not a Hauwei E3533 dongle. The mind boggles. As for the laptop I will certainly look into a DV...

Re: Using a laptop or notebook for Family Historian
Hello readers, My problem is related but not directly to this thread. I recently bought a second hand laptop (three years old) but with no manual, but the same operating software (Windows 7) as my desktop computer. The laptop has no CD drive so I copied the Family Historian files to the laptop. Had ...

Using a laptop or notebook for Family Historian
Hello readers, I trying to decide on an alternative machine to my desktop computer. Also what would I need to watch out for in relation to insta...

Re: Repeat Previous Data Entry
I agree with hampds. I, as a The Master Genealogist (TMG) user about to be a Family Historian user (FH), also wish to have an option similar to F3 on TMG. Copy and paste is time consuming for every line of text. Copy and paste of a source or citation is not quite the same, as on occasions some data ...
