Re: Converting existing census facts to Ancestral Sources
Hello Mike, Your reply was very interesting. From what you said, Ancestral Sources is purely a data input aid. So if I don't need to convert my existing facts for Ancestral Sources will there be any problems with reference to say other 'plugins'? I only mentioned census facts as I didn't want to get...

Converting existing census facts to Ancestral Sources
Hello readers,
I have now decided to use Ancestral Sources but what about converting existing facts to Ancestral Sources format.
Can this be done without inputting all the data again?

Re: Family Historian Census Event for UK 1939 Register
Hello Mike & David, This is more complicated for me than I thought it was when all I did was downloaded Census events. But I will over come it. Mike, you have made it much clearer. The Sentence wasn't shown on my screen, I was by my mistake referring to the 'title' of the facts list in the Individua...

Re: Family Historian Census Event for UK 1939 Register
Hello Mike, The sentence construction was copied from the topic 'Family Historian Census Event for UK 1939 Register'. See Details third paragraph. What should the sentence be? The name Albert Kain is the name of the record in I have mislead you as that was his birth. I should have as per my last com...

Re: uncategorised data
Hello Mike, Sorry, didn't answer your questions. I ran Uncategorised data from Tools. Viewed the information on Records Window with the Named Panes Lists showing. Clicking on the relevant list showed the * star bullet point. That data was from a GED.com file. Presumably when I merged the files a few...

Re: uncategorised data
Hello Mike, If I went to the tab All and deleted the UDF, the record itself got deleted. I've cleared the UDF data problem. I exported the record in question to a new GED file. In a word-processor I deleted the group of data causing the problem. Then imported to a new project and checked the data. A...

uncategorised data
Hello readers,
I have some uncategorised data in two records.
How is the best way to modify as the data is required but as a 'Custom Id' with Gedcom labels of DATE, PLAC, SOUR, PAGE and NOTE.
Many thanks.

Hello Ron,
There is another way.
On the Family Historian program menu click on TOOLS, then Plugins, at the bottom of that pop-up click on Plugin Store.

Hello Jane, Thank you for the prompt reply. I have looked and they are in different folders. ie different file. My confusion was thinking they were the same files as no directory was shown. Re: Date Filtering on Records window / Individuals tab
I also had problems with the Records Window - Individual - From Year To Year. With the threads of 2015 it helped a bit. Used dates either side of the birth date (1888 and 1890) for someone born 1888. But then I sorted the birth dates in descending order and much clearer to find a person when born. G...

Has FHUG Knowledge Base changed?
A few days ago I clicked on Knowledge Base and went to a list of How To topics.
Now the best I can get is Knowledge Base Index.
Have I forgotten something.

Hello Lorna, No it's from a saved diagram. I thought I had seen something some time ago. Many thanks, you have saved me a lot of fru...

Re: differents person names for census
Thank you for that Mike.
Although what I wanted is what you say cannot be done, which is assign an Alternate Name to a Fact.
The person in question has different surnames in two different census and as yet cannot determine which is her birth name.
Many thanks though.

differents person names for census
I’m not sure how to explain this but, here goes. I have person in a census with a particular name (A). But in another census they are called (B). In the property box census facts can be added and on the main tab different names can be assigned to the same person. But how can these alternative names ...
