DNA results into FH and creating a "Book of Me"
Is there any way to input/upload DNA results into FH? I have been using AncestryDNA to get the DNA tested at this point and have uploaded the results into GEDmatch. I am just wondering if there is any way to upload it into FH. I am planning to use FH to create a "Book of Me" for my Maternal Uncle fo...

Re: How do you solve Road Blocks?
WooHoo!!! I found a Christian Name for my 4x GGma, Susanna was born in Newry Ireland in 1827! I also found that she moved from Ireland to Liverpool sometime between the birth of her son Bernard Brannan around 1845 and the birth of my 3x GGma Mary Ann Brannan around 1846. I found a Census record show...

Re: Keeping the paper to support the digital
A new online utility http://www.zoompast.org/ has a very novel way of presenting trees. It is free, but its features are still evolving to support all GEDCOM structures. Shortly it will accept very large trees, and eventually upload Media automatically. The Export Gedcom File Plugin has a predefine...

Re: DNA testing - Did it help?
I find that very disappointing, as to me that is far more useful/important than genealogy, I know it might still be in its infancy, but knowing a "propensity" to something can steer you in a better life choice direction etc. Could you not send your sample abroad for this purpose? Jim, I'm a Registe...

Re: Keeping the paper to support the digital
I too have had a similar quandary, and eventhough I am somewhat of an IT junkie and have managed to maintain most if not all of my Data across many PC's, I am also a bit of a "Doomsdayer." I am afraid that something is going to happen to technology and will not have any Hard Copies of all of my rese...

DNA testing - Did it help?
I searched for DNA topics within this forum and the last one I found was from 2011. I know that DNA for genealogy has come a long way since then. I have had a recent Cancer scare with my Mother and she has agreed to take a DNA test, although she is not sure if she wants to know the results. BTW it w...

Without getting certificates etc or having more info re your family cannot be certain is correct, but having checked census etc believe it is. Tim I Think you were on the right track!!! I asked the gentleman in Cr...

Re: How do you solve Road Blocks?
Ergh, I am getting very frustrated right now, and may need to walk away from this branch for awhile... I decided to try and find out what she put down on her second marriage certificate, since I know for sure that is her. I reached out to a gentleman in Crawford County Iowa where I have her second H...

Re: How do you solve Road Blocks?
Ugh, I am so confused... I sent an email with all my documents regarding her to my Mentor who is a distant cousin and has been doing this for 40 years. I am hoping she will give me insight. I have a gut feeling that she lied about her age, could that be why she omitted her fathers name? I have doubl...

Re: How do you solve Road Blocks?
I received the Marriage License today!!! Unfortunately it actually added some questions. I have her birth as June 1855 but according to the license she was 19 at the time of Marriage, which actually makes more sense then her being 14 at the time of Marriage. I have her date of birth from two separat...

Need help translating Latin
Okay I took one year of Latin in High School (almost 30 years ago now) I think I have translated this correctly but I am not sure, and I stupidly forgot to write down what church this record it was from if anyone has access to Ancestry.com I would appreciate knowing what Church and where. I h...

Re: How do you solve Road Blocks?
1. Mervyn thanks so much for the great information!!! My Aunt (who is closer in age to me than her siblings, and is my Best Friend) got so excited when I called her with the new surname she began googling it. She was somewhat upset that it was yet another British event, I told her we were actually m...

Re: How do you solve Road Blocks?
Quick question, I just did the calculation and Mar Ann would have only been 14.5 in Dec 1869, would that be unusual? She lived until at least 54 as I can still find her in the US census through 1910.

How do you solve Road Blocks?
I have been doing my genealogy for over 14-15 years now and I have some VERY long branches (all the way to Charlemagne on one). Luckily I discovered a website and it's archivist who had done and collected most of the information for two branches (yes I am my own 9th cousin  ). In someways this ...

Need help with Places
I am new to the board and new to FH. I have FH6 and have uploaded GEDCOM from FTM 2012. I realize that is part of the problem but now how do I fix errors such as a fact note being in the Place area and as such I cannot delete the place. For example I may not have where someone actually died but I ha...
