Re: Customise Source Pane?
Although AS does offer Templates for the Auto-Text transcript, those are not mandatory, and can be highly customised, and can be post edited, which is actually recommended, so the text accurately reflects the original document. AS can be used to replace and reformat existing entries. OK, maybe I wa...

Re: Customise Source Pane?
Arthur, have you considered using ancestralsources:index|> Ancestral Sources ( AS ) which provides a consistent approach to creating Source Citations for most popular Source documents, including Baptism records? AS supports both Method 1 'splitters' and Method 2 'lumpers' styles of Source Citations...

Re: Customise Source Pane?
Arthur The best way to discover the impact of data structures in Reports is to experiment. The style of Source Citations and associated Options is are the same in all Reports . If you do not want to upset your main Project use the Family Historian Sample Project . Thank you - yes, I would certainly...

Re: Customise Source Pane?
Just going back to my original query about making the Where Within Source box bigger (or having a pop-up as with the long text field Text from Source), I'm wondering if there would be any adverse implications to splitting the long Where... data between that field and the citation Notes . In the scre...

Re: Customise Source Pane?
As you wrote earlier, FH tends to use Method 1. So does Heredis. The currently available two major software from the US (Legacy and RootsMagic) focus on their wizards for source / citation recording (more a Method 1 focus). Personally I prefer free form source / citation recording, not wizards. I t...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
I could make the background highlight a little darker, although nobody asked for the underline/highlight, but I thought it more consistent with hyperlink conventions. A darker background would work better for me, but see what others think. I don't want to produce a Help page for this Plugin . If th...

Customise Source Pane?
Most of my sources and citations follow Method 2 , and one consequence of this is that I make quite a bit of use of the Where Within Source field. Recent discussions of this field have focussed on its content and/or appearance in reports, but it's made me wonder about its appearance as part of the S...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
I can see where you're both coming from with regard to links, and I'm not sure whether it's better to describe the names in their hovered or unhovered state. However, I found the highlighting very pale, to the extent that it didn't seem to be adding anything. This could of course be a feature of my ...

Re: More difficult to read text - Irish Marriage
The names at the end of the entries seem to vary. One has Thomas...., and I think others probably have the surname Downes. Looking at yours again, I wonder if this too is Downes - which like Elizabeth has lost the end in the spine of the book. Whatever it says, I suspect it will be the name of whoev...

Re: More difficult to read text - Irish Marriage
I think Lorna has the gist of it correctly. My transcription: Matrimonio juncti sunt Michael Caughlan (sic) et Catharina Sheedy Bannis dispensatis et nullam imped. interv. Testes erant Elizab... Carroll et Maria Anna Ryan. J. Dann. Note alternative spelling for Coughlan, and I've put the witness Eli...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
I agree the slider controls are perverse, but that is the way the IUP library works....... It is possible to invert the slider left-to-right, so 20 Point is at left end and 4 Point is at right end, such that:- Page Up and Up Arrow and Left Arrow increase point size to the left. Page Down and Down A...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Looking good here, Mike - many thanks. Incidentally, I have now been able to reproduce the Ctrl and mouse scroll to change the font size in a single pane. When the font size slider has focus, then Ctrl does inhibit the change of size, as I reported before. But if I click in a pane to give it focus a...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Yes, I said in an earlier posting that the slider keys are " sometimes in the opposite direction to what you might expect ", but that seems to be the only way the IUP package works. I missed that comment, so this took me by surprise a bit. Maybe the hovering mouse scroll behaviour depends on the ve...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Here is a Christmas bonus Quick Family Facts Version 0.9.7 Date 24 Dec 2016. Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
That is fine on Wine too. A much better option. Aesthetically you may want to increase the space between the font size and the slider as the second digit of the font size is partially hidden behind the slider. Thumbs up from me, too. However, unless you've changed the file in the 10 minutes between...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Colin, it may be a Wine issue, but does the attached version make any difference? It adds a fraction of a second pause before enabling the spin up/down arrows. (It still has the same Version & Date) It is better but not 100% as long as it doesn't affect the Windows users then this is certainly a be...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
I'm very happy with this as a more or less final version.
Thanks again for all you've done on this.
Font Size 6 to 12 point would suit me, but if it's no trouble to have a wider range, you might as well stick with 4 to 20.tatewise wrote:Is the range of Font Size from 4 to 20 point sufficient?

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Thank you, Mike - you appear to have solved the missing scroll bars issue without any more input from me. Version 0.9.3 now seems to address all my concerns. And a bit more feedback: personally, I prefer the = against the Root's name in the Partners pane as it is now, ie not underlined. (But like I ...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Thanks for the further tweaks. Unfortunately I'm finding some inconsistency with the scroll bars as the panes are expanded and reduced. I don't have time now to work out exactly how it's happening, though increasing the Siblings/Children panes sometimes shrinks the Root/Partner pane but without crea...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
@arthurk ~ Have you any particular objective for removing certain scroll-bars? It is only meant to be a quick popup window to help ratify family groups when investigating such as Census records. What might work is an option to choose the font size, so more details will fit in each pane. Not specifi...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
The latest version (0.9.1) seems an improvement, but I'm finding with some of my families - probably especially (or only?) where the current Root has more than one partner - that the number of people to show means that I always get a scroll bar somewhere, and sometimes more than one. I know it might...

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Missed that - I'd been concentrating on the names and dates etc so much that I didn't notice the headings. But my preference would be for underlining the Root's name only. As a minor stylistic point, I wonder if it would also look better in the Partner pane if the underline started with the Root's n...

I agree with Peter and Brian - underline rather than italic, and have the root the same colour wherever s/he appears.
