Re: Bibliography Citation-specific Metafields
I have serious practical problems, however, with EE's idea of recording the year of access in the Bibliography, not least because some of my parish registers and censuses (in particular) might have a bibliography entry for every year since I started this lark, were I to follow the same process. So ...

Re: Printing problem caused by Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64 based systems KB5000802
That link takes you to a page which describes a Workaround, but if you scroll a bit further (maybe it's been updated since you looked?) there's also a Resolution, in the form of update KB5001567. It tells you how to get this. I've installed the update, but as I'm still on FH6 and hadn't had any othe...

Re: Report of all individuals with similar Last Name
In the Individuals pane of the Records window, right-click any of the column headers and select Configure Columns. Soundex appears near the top of the list on the left; click the arrow to get it in the list on the right, then use the up/down arrows to adjust its position. Back in the Records window,...

Re: Report of all individuals with similar Last Name
Can anything be done with Soundex codes? These are already built in to the program (v.6.2 at any rate) and might offer a solution. Looking at my surnames, I see that Anderson and Andrews are coded the same (A536), as are Harcourt and Harker (H626) and Mennill and Meynell (M540), and there will be pl...

It looks the same as the other entries, where the last two words are Anno predict - in the aforesaid year. (Note the superscript 'r' - doing duty as a contraction for 're'.) It's November, by the way.
I'm not sure why he slipped into Latin at the end, though it is a bit shorter than the English.

Am I correct in thinking that it is no longer necessary to archive activation keys and downloaded installation media? Once the installation activation key has been registered you only need your CP Account username and password? Can you then install any downloadable copy of FH and activate it via th...

I've been using Privacy Badger for a while, but the latest version of Firefox (82.0) seems to be blocking more or less the same items anyway, so I'm wondering how necessary PB is now. (I have Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict.)

Re: Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
OK, you've inspired me. Because lack of screen width seems to be an issue, how about this: . af-fhlayout.jpg . Two thoughts: (a) sometimes when switching focus the Source Pane disappeared. I didn't manage to work out under what conditions this happened, but it's not a big deal. (b) is there a way to...

Re: Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
If you have a screen that's wide enough, you can tile the Focus Window and Records List vertically, view the Named List pane, widen it to push the record list 'off screen'. You can also add in a docked property box... whose contents will change as you select an item in a list. Helen - thanks for th...

Re: Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
It is not entirely clear to me why having a Named List open with other types of window is necessary. Once the Named List is open (in the Records Window) each entry is like a tab that opens the Property Box . Why do other types of window need to be involved? Because if I'm working on a family, it's ...

Re: Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
Thanks - considering each person's name/box in the Focus window or in a diagram as a tab is something that hadn't occurred to me, and means that what I'm asking about does to some extent already exist. I take the point about inserting unrelated people into a diagram, but where this breaks down is if...

Re: Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
I doubt multiple property boxes would be possible without a radical redesign as they are entry points not something to view. I'm not a programmer so didn't know what the implications of this would be. However, this was why I raised the question, to see if it might be feasible. Maybe if I do formall...

Re: Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
It is better to discuss such ideas in the FH General Usage Forum first before posting here, in case there already is a solution. Feel free to move this if you think appropriate. Having given this question some thought, the only solutions I could think of that come close to my idea were the ones I m...

Property Box - multiple instances in tabs?
It has occurred to me that it might sometimes make data entry easier if there was an option to have multiple Property Boxes available, accessible via tabs. We commonly use tabs in browsers, spreadsheets etc, so would it be useful here? Records to edit are currently selected in one of the Windows (Fo...

Reports (ISR & FGS) - when Attribute Value is empty
I've noticed a minor issue in Individual Summary Reports and Family Group Sheets where an Attribute has nothing in its Value field. See the screenshot for an example from the sample project using an Education attribute. isr-attribute.jpg When the Value field is empty (in this example, it could be th...

Re: New user requesting confirmation that I am following best practice
On census dates, a one day difference can be down to whether you use the Monday date (when the forms were presumably completed, referring to the previous night) or the Sunday date. I used to use the Monday dates, as it seemed more logical, but I'm sure I was in a minority, and when I discovered that...

Just going back to the original question, my experience was the same as Brent's. I have FH 6.2.7 and Windows 10 Pro, which was updated on 13 May with KB4556799, and FH is still backing up as it always did.

Re: Build description.
The middle letter group of the mystery string, which we might "want to be" a "p" unfortunately does not match. The recovery from the descender is unlooped - unlike the "z" of "Hazel" (L). On the right the "g" of groin is looped, unlike the "g" of "thigh" which does not recover into the "h". On the ...

I don't often delve into the All tab, so hadn't noticed the problem there. I've just reminded Calico Pie of this.
