Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
Peter - I must be missing something or having a senior moment but I now have the very latest Irfanview and all the current plug-ins but I do not seem to be able to do as you say. Yes, it can convert multiple jpgs into a pdf but not break a pdf into multiple jpg or any picture format which is what is...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
I think whilst FH save files in pdf it does not appear to be able in import a pdf into a report or book. The problem I have is that the documents are up to 20 pages each which I would have to print, scan, save as jpg and add every page to Media records before adding to report or book. Possible but t...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
A further question regarding reports or more specifically Books. When producing a book is it possible to incorporate pdf & word files as I have a number of records such service records and letters that I want to incorporate into the section regarding an individuals history. Otherwise each Book just ...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
Understood, but I doubt if the old data could be transferred to FH or anything else current so eventually would be obsolete. In fact I know that small databases I wrote in Access more than 20 years ago (using Access Basic) would not run correctly on later versions of Access as I believe it changed t...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
I thought about individual reports but considered it better if I could get related people grouped together where possible. It also helps if you want reports with full indexes. I am currently running draft reports which I read through and edit where necessary. I also use the note boxes and generally ...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
Thanks, I will copy all this advise and I am sure I can work something out. Yes it is a tremendous task just sorting out what reports are need to avoid too much duplication and make sure all the interesting people are included. Breaking it down into manageable chunks is the answer but Record Ids are...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
Thanks. I should be able to sort what I want from all these options. The point of it is to be able to print all my data into volumes and chapters of reports with diagrams to match. one volume for each side of my family with chapters giving reports of various trees of ancestors and descendants. If th...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
Thanks. I presume that to get a simple index of individual names and record ids it is manual editing task of saving the report in rtf and abstracting and editing the index to create a contents sheet.

RecordIDs in reports and diagrams
This must have been asked before but I cannot find a topic. Is there an option to include record IDs of individuals in reports and diagrams to make it easy to index & find a report for an individual when that person is located in a diagram. With many individuals with the same or similar names it wou...

Re: Adding a child with no named father after mother is married
I do have that correct, otherwise the children are not in the correct order either. I have ancestors that add illegitimate children, then got married, then widowed, had more illegitimate children, some with and some without fathers names and then married again to another person. A real mess! Thanks ...

Re: Adding a child with no named father after mother is married
Thanks, simple really. I had not thought of that. Next time I need it I will do it that way. Up till now I have created the un-named person, created the illegitimate child and then deleted the un-named person. Achieved the same but messy.
Thanks

Re: Adding a child with no named father after mother is married
Yes I know you can add an un-named father but if the child is added before a marriage it does not need to show un-named father and it stays that way after a marriage. It is a pity that FH cannot give an option to provide consistency for illegitimate children with no father named.

Adding a child with no named father after mother is married
When I find that a wife had an illegitimate child before her marriage, is there a way of adding that child without having to add an un-named spouse. The child can be added easily if done before her marriage but I cannot see how to do it once a spouse exists. The same applies if a widow has a child w...

Re: function for marriage count?
Thanks, but whilst David's expression works OK, for some reason Mike's returns an error that it is not a valid function or parameters entered wrongly.
I am missing something or might there be a small typo in Mikes expression.
Thanks - Phil

Thanks

Re: Illegitimate Child - 'Unknown' spouse of mother.
I have a similar problem, but it seems to only occur when the illegitimate children are added after the mother is already entered with a husband the system needs a spouse as children cannot be added to a single parent. However if the parent is added after the child, by working backwards from a singl...

Re: Advice on Best Report Formats
The narrative descendants by generation report is good but to avoid repetition of people and to break my tree into manageable pieces I want to experiment with one or two generations at a time. However, if I set the options for say 2 generations the report also always shows the children of the second...
