Recording Military Facts
Does anyone have a good example of a custom fact set for recording military events during a period of service. It could simply go as a series of occupation events and record details in the notes section, or a series of custom facts, one for each significant event. I have an ancestor that served in t...

Re: Pictures causing V6 to crash
Crash normally occurs after link has been done, and generally after file has been opened to add dates or notes and then you try to return to the individual or to the Records Window, at which point it obviously loses the picture and anything you have done since last auto save. It certainly is nothing...

Re: Pictures causing V6 to crash
The only error messages are the standard Windows message that says "Family Historian has stopped responding The Program will close" I have tried attaching the 3 dump files in zip format but they are too big, Each file is about 4MB and forum limit is 256Kb. The dump files I am talking about are store...

Re: Pictures causing V6 to crash
Re tatewise post, I have attempted to send 3 FH crash dump files as email attachments direct to calico pie. Don't seem to be able to upload as forum does not allow .dmp files. I've sent them to info@calico-pie.com and asked them to please forward to the software development section My monitor is a 2...

Re: Pictures causing V6 to crash
I too am still getting problems of FH crashing when dealing with import and handling Media pictures. I have recently had several crashes after importing and linking a new picture to an individual. A particular instance is that I imported a new picture, unlinked an existing one, deleted it or so I th...

Re: Customised Tabs in Property Box
You say they are a fully functional built in feature of FH V6, but how are they made available. Do they have to be imported from Knowledge Base first?

Customised Tabs in Property Box
I have read posts made a few years ago regarding Customised Tabs in the Property Box in earlier versions of FH. What is the current status of these and what is the benefit of having them. If current do they work with V6, are they a Plug In and can they be removed

Re: Fields in custom facts
Thanks - I have managed to get around it partially by adding a custom event Mothers Emigration but to get the sentence code to work correctly I need to change the non visible "in" in the code to "to" so it reads "He witnessed his mothers immigration TO London" instead of "He witnessed his mothers im...

Facts Time Line Options Box - Start date option
Can I request that the existing Facts Time Line options box gets a START cut off options box (similar to existing Cut Off Date options) so as family events that happen before birth of the individual can be hidden if required. It would be very useful to exclude non relevant facts that happened before...

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
I understand the reasoning but I would have thought that a birth cut off was not a huge issue, as in my distant past I did a limited amount of relational database design. However, I accept that I obviously do not know the detail of this program and the developers must have considered it an unnecessa...

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
Having read this string it answered what was to be my next question about including birth dates of siblings and grandchildren. However, I now have a further question and possibly a wish list request. The cut off date can be adjusted, but it would be useful if there was also a selection for commencem...

Adding a source for a non fact media record
Is there a way of actually adding a source to a picture of an individual or a place as these are not facts.

Re: Pros and Cons of Media Sub Folders
Thanks, I agree it is good housekeeping to have sub folders and sorting by the file locations column will at least group similar files together. Having already started adding media links to records that exist in the main Media folder, if I move the files to sub folders is there a shortcut to relinki...

Pros and Cons of Media Sub Folders
It seems a good idea to break the Media folder into sub folders to avoid a large jumble of certificates, photos etc but as FH then sees them all in a single list in the Media tab of the records window I wonder if there is actually any point. Is there any way that FH can see them based on sub folder,...
