Property Box Tabs
I am not sure if this has been raised before but it seems to me that there is something missing when designing a new tab. A good example is the Census UK tab, which triggered my train of thought when reading 20516|Census UK Tab - my take . This tab includes all the UK census facts from 1841 to1921, ...

Re: PRINTING RESEARCH NOTES PLAN
Thanks Mike, I was expecting to see a Research Notes tab so missed that it was a part of Notes. It still seems a bit clunky to me. For starters, in Research Tasks why not have a date picker to put in the Date or drop downs for Tasks which retain previous tasks (how many times is the task something l...

Re: PRINTING RESEARCH NOTES PLAN
I think I am in the Vyger camp. Having come from TMG over 8 years ago I know that one of the things I missed the most was their To Do List, at least that what I think it was called. I had great hopes when Research Notes were mentioned as a new feature in V7 but it doesn't match up to the TMG version...

Re: How can I use a quarter date in a custom query?
I have one person in my family tree whose birth was registered in Q1 1943, but she was actually born almost 5 years earlier, on 8th April 1938! There is a handwritten addition on the Q2 1938 index page. I would love to know what went on there! Was the child included in the 1939 Register, if not the...

Re: "Rank or Profession" of the Groom?
In the realms of guesswork but could B.E. be Belfast East which according to Wikipedia was and still is a Unionist constituency? If so, did he have some political role and the I at the end is Ireland. There is also no full stop after the first S so could the A be "and" making that part S and S? Mayb...

Re: Grandad's multiple (old) certificates
Adrian I seem to recall answering a similar question to yours in the past as to why a Birth Certificate might have been issued at a later date. It used to be common when taking out a life policy for the insurance company or friendly society to ask for proof of age and if the original birth certifica...

Re: Number of Place elements in GEDCOM?
Amazingly in my bookcase I have a copy of the David Hawgood book! There is a section 6. Special Types of Information: Place, Name, Date etc with Sub-section 6.1 Places . The only reference that I can see is in the 3rd paragraph which starts "In PAF 2.2 a place can have up to 4 levels" and there are ...

I think that I could make use of your plugin above but I'm not sure if it is compatible with FH7. No worry if it isn't as I'm sure that you have plenty of other things with greater priority to do.

Sometimes the hints are really useful - I've just received an email suggesting that I might like to view a photo hint - it turned out to be an image with the words "Not researching this line"!

20,000 and still going strong!
For those that have not already noticed, Mike (Tatewise) has just made his 20,000th post on this forum and shows no signs of easing up. If you add his contributions to the Mailing List, the writing of the Plugins and the articles in the Knowledgebase he must have produced more than the complete work...

Re: Registration district numbers
As I said, my thought is that it is the Register Number so when Register 1A is full then they start Register 1B - but that is just a guess! If someone has a contact in a Registration Office then they may be able to throw more light on it, I can't imagine that it's a state secret

Re: Registration district numbers
Having made an online search I came across https://www.registers.service.gov.uk/registers/registration-district . You can download a list of the Registration Codes which reveals that the first three numbers relate to a Registration District - so CHESHIRE WEST AND CHESTER is 345. There is no 340 whic...

Which subsequently begs the question, are the address fields against the individual actually necessary if the address is entered at the head of the form? I can understand why you are puzzled about the addresses as there is no reason for them to be duplicated for the more modern Electoral Rolls. How...

Re: Research Notes
As a follow on question is there an easier way to add a new Research Note. Using Add>Add Research Note is a bit cumbersome as there does not appear to be a shortcut or a single click option either in the toolbar or in the Individual's Property Box. I appreciate that it is only a couple of clicks ext...

Re: High cost of upgrade
As I said in a different topic about Calico Pie, a company's marketing strategy should be to look after it's own customers first before targeting new customers. What they should have done, prior to announcing that Version 7 was in the pipeline, was to increase the price to new purchasers of V6 to th...

Whilst accepting that there is a reason for the date not being validated, I can't see the reason for the red question mark beside the Date box tha...

AS7 - Electoral Roll possible bug

Mike/Lorna Apologies, it seems as though I have a rogue Sample Project.
