Re: TMG to FH import of Flags
Is one explanation that the Ancestor Interest flag with value Y becomes Ancestor Interest in FH, and if it has no value it also becomes Ancestor Interest in FH? I don't think so - as I said, there has to be a default value in TMG so there is no opportunity to leave it with no value - for Ancestor I...

Re: TMG to FH import of Flags
Mike In TMG you defined the default value of the flag, and to give an example I used the Ancestor Interest flag in my project. This meant that all the individuals in my TMG project had a N flag as this was the default unless they had been amended to Y. In FH, using the TMG Import, I now have flags (...

Re: Citations - is there a correct way?
Thanks for all the responses which seem to indicate that my way of doing things will have no impact any other aspect of FH. I suppose I was intrigued as to why someone would want to move their citations from the "Text" field to the "Where" field which appears to be the purpose of the Plugin currentl...

Citations - is there a correct way?
There is currently a discussion in the Importing and Exporting forum entitled 14545|Citations from TMG which has made me question the way I am using the "Where within Source" and "Text from Source" fields when recording entries from the GRO Index. The suggestion is that the details of the Registrati...

Re: How to correctly record date and place from BMD Index entries
My way of recording the Quarter Date, which may or may not be the best way, Is to always record the Quarter Date in the Citation as the Entry Date. As far as the Birth Date is concerned, if the BMD Index is the only information that I have, I also record the Quarter Date as the Birth Date. If I have...

Re: More difficult to read text - Irish Marriage
My thought is that the surname is Carroll, not only because it is a common Irish name but also on looking at the letter 'r' in erant and Maria they appear to be very much the same. If the name at the end is the priest it could be 'F' for Father D..... That being the case, are there other marriage en...

Re: Gedsite
Craig Although there is not a forum for Gedsite there is a Google Group! There is a lot of discussion there about the new software although not always relevant to FH users. There is also an Announcements group that informs you of new releases which at the moment tend to be about once a week as new f...

Re: Mark Sources or Media as Private
I'm not a lawyer but I would say that personal use is just that - for the use of the person that has downloaded the image. If you pass it on, even privately, then you are effectively allowing another person access to an image that you do not own and would therefore have to get the permission of the ...

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts - Search Criteria
Mike I have just tried the new plugin and it seems to work for me. The difference is noticeable as it has reduces the number of my ancestors to examine from 71 to 30. This means that I am now able to concentrate on those where there is a definite possibility of there being a missing census fact rath...

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts - Search Criteria
Thanks for your response, Mike. Have you considered the 'home or abroad' option of giving those Individuals facts with a Date matching the Census, and a Place not matching the Census? I am not sure if the effort of adding additional facts would be worthwhile. For example, my 71 ancestors would need ...

Lookup Missing Census Facts - Search Criteria
The changes in the latest version of the Plugin version 4.0.2 are very useful and will make searching that much easier. One item on my wish list is to be able to filter out the pre - 1941 results. Although these act as a good reminder that there were other small census returns the likelihood of any ...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup
I think that we are both saying the same thing about the "No date" question as the marriage is listed, which is what is needed, and the Date used is derived from elsewhere being the 1st Child Birthdate. When reading through the FAQ the previous items in that section all refer to the Event date eithe...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup
Mike You are of course correct that there could be a marriage with a Citation and an Inexact Date - it was just that on my small sample it was the other way round and led me to the wrong conclusion that it would only happen with a date and no citation. I have now run the Plugin using all my data so ...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup
Thanks for the latest Plugin, Mike and I can confirm that it cures all the previous ills. Looking back I can now see that you are correct in realising that, if there was no Event Data, the subsequent entries jumped up to fill the space. I had a few of these and all the empty spaces were at the botto...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup
I have followed your guidance and the Record ID that appears on both the Spouses and Children tab of the person born 1907 AND in the Result Set is that person's Mother. Richard Lummis's relationship to her is Great (x4) Great Uncle. However it may be pertinent that the Mother, Kate Lummis follows Ri...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup
Mike I have now resolved my question about the first listed as I find that she had children before her marriage with no known father and the first born's date of birth is the same as the Event Date. Unfortunately I was looking at the Property Box when examining the dates and didn't look at the blank...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup
Mike Unfortunately I can't reconcile the Event Data with any fact relating to the Individual or his Family. Maybe another example might be more revealing. The Event Data on the next line is "Born 27 August 1907 in Marylebone Road, London" for a Richard Lummis who has a birth date of circa 1719 so I ...
