Re: Web Clipper?
It suggests to me the problem is more complicated than just 'protection' ? I believe Windows Snip / Snipping Tool is just taking a screenshot though, not getting the original file. In fact, screen shots/snipping is the recognised way of avoiding file protection / right click protection, etc. :D I d...

Re: Web Clipper?
Yes, I get the same error with the images on that page, but some other website images work OK for both .jpg and .gif files. If the images are downloaded to your PC they then import OK  Maybe the problem needs to be reported to CP with that specific website so they can check those images. http...

Re: Census and Census Template
Thanks both. The same Census event in both Generic and Template. My 'better' really relates to how FH Booklet will handle them. I have found that Generic Census data, although tabulated, often extends over the page edge and needs correcting. I will experiment. Your new Templated Sources have inconsi...

Re: Census and Census Template
The mist is clearing ! Yes the Template Sources are the most recent and from V7. I think the Generic ones are from V6 and earlier, maybe some from AS. I read the details from your link Mike and it has filled in a lot of the gaps in my knowledge. Apart from my own screen viewing/updating of my Family...

Re: Census and Census Template
Thanks for the replies. I did wonder about a screenshot when I posted but thought it a bit too tricky for one, anyway, Lorna you are spot on, Sources in the Records window. Here are two screenshots: Census Template.JPG Census.JPG A while ago I did dabble with AS but don't use it routinely now, perha...

Census and Census Template
I have got myself confused between these as listed under the Sources tab. I have been using Census Templates for some time but hadn't realised that although I have filled them in, they haven't 'qualified' to be listed under Census Template but appear under Generic Type/ Census . It isn't a major iss...

Re: GEDMatch, understanding results
Thanks for the reply RS3100.
I had explored the top line menus and the Forum but I hadn't found the Information panel down the screen on the RHS.
That is very helpful and gives me a good start, thanks again.

GEDMatch, understanding results
I know this is not a directly related FH question, hence posting under Research, I hope this OK.
I have only just had DNA test results so nearly everything about it is new me, any guidance will be most welcome.
How should I interpret the top lines of my One to Many match results?

Re: Relation Pool Number: Caution
I read this thread because I knew nothing about Pool Numbers  I can see the usefulness of it and wondered if it was another thing I have overlooked so here it my 'stupid question'. Is it displayed in any of the standard windows, or does it only get displayed after running certain reports/queri...

I did used the 'batch' process you described, it was just 'making a note' seems incongruous with so much memory and processing power beneath my fingers!

Re: Using Find Duplicate individuals
Thanks Mike, and must make a note of any non-duplicates. Because I have a large number of them this was the step I was trying to avoid ! I assume there is a technical reason why the necessary windows cannot all be open and actionable at the same time, that would make the process a little easier IMHO.

Re: Amending Census dates
Thanks Victor but am a very occasional user of AS. I am still trying to get the best out of FH !
I have now manually listed and edited all the census dates I have, very boring but now complete.

Using Find Duplicate individuals
I have found a large number of duplicates in my data that appear to be historic, because of adding data from a relative some time ago. I am slowly processing them and I am now looking for the best way to Omit Non-Duplicates . I was hoping that I could work through the duplicate list found, merging o...

Amending Census dates
I would like to correct the Census dates of my data, they are currently just yyyy and I want to change them to dd/mm/yyyy
Is there an existing plugin that will allow me to achieve this?
I had a quick look at Change any Fact but couldn't find the right criteria.

Re: Census UK Tab - my take
Thanks all for your suggestions. I came across the Alignment Groups section in the KB, it totally confused me, it was for that reason I made my post! I had thought of editing and seeing what happened, often my normal practice, but I thought I really ought to find out what does what. The percentages ...

Re: Census UK Tab - my take
I read sections of the KB to try and understand the use of the values in the fhpbt file but couldn't understand enough of it to achieve what I had in mind. Using the latest version as an example this code: Item6=CUSTOM-"Census 1851 Date & Place",Y,"INDI.CENS[year=1851].DATE","Census 1851:",0,0,55,Y,...

Thanks Mike.

Yes, realising there are missing years is a drawback, I will experiment.

Re: DNA tab for Property Box
Mike T, One kind uses INDI.CENS[n] where n=1 to 9 instance digits and allows data to be entered. The other uses INDI.CENS[year=yyyy] where yyyy is the census year and is read-only. Being able to edit the Census tab seems to me a desirable objective so could you give me some guidance please. How is [...

Looks a lot better match to the data.
Would you be willing to export your version of Census tab?
It would save me and others a lot of editing!

Re: Charts in a Book
Mike, I thought you were too an experienced user to be stumpted when there was an easy fix!
Lets hope CP come up with a solution.
Being lazy/short of time, I find books a very useful feature to provide relatives with their branches of the family tree that they can study at their leisure.

Re: Charts in a Book
Mick, If it was in a word processor adding a page break just before the chart would start to do that, then tweaking their size position to get similarity. Not sure if that is possible in a book though.
