Finding Media that NOT Sources
Still battling away with my Sources :? Is there a Report/Plug In, that will tell me if the media in a chosen folder are NOT Sources? I thought I would then be able to use that list to choose the ones I will have as Sources. If this sounds all a bit back to front it is because over time I have added ...

Renaming a Project
I have restored a Full Backup and it has given me a "Complete FH (2)" project for the restored folder and data names, because the original in the Project folder. I want to keep the (2) version as the only version. Can I safely rename it and the folder name without the (2), if I delete/rename the ori...

Re: Source Documents
Thanks again but I think the mist has closed in again regarding Text from Source , in fact Sources altogether ! Is there a visual representation of all this? I had thought that Text from Source was part of a Citation which provides the details of a Source and a Source could be attached to a Fact ,an...

Re: Source Documents
Thanks, I will slowly digest your comments, 'tis seriously complex! An explanation of the Text from Source variants would help! Yes Text from Source from the Sources For: panel. The attached is an example of what I am faced with. The format of the Census(family) text for this one looks OK to me, but...

Re: Source Documents
Yes I see using the Media Player enables another window to be maintained. I am glad I took a step back. Several of the Census (family) Sources do not have supporting Media, they just have information typed into the Text from Source box, looks like I might have to find another way. Perhaps a Source c...

Re: Source Documents
Thanks, the Restore from a Full Backup did just what you said. I can now scan Project(2) in case any note had been added that was not on the Census. I would like to add that every step you have 'talked' me through confirms my belief that FH is an excellent program, comprehensive, flexible and fast. ...

Re: Source Documents
Just getting back to it, but before I proceed some clarification please. If you want to delete all Census (family) facts whether they have Citations or not then use a different approach. Run the View > Standard Queries > All Events query, sort by Event Type column, then select all the Census (family...

Re: Source Documents
Thanks again. Yes you answered the Family link question before, my apologises. I had only deleted one Family link, but now I have this where used set I can see the others to delete. Re: Source Documents
Great, simple enough for me to have done it in a couple of minutes! I notice it doesn't exclude those Media records that are both Individual as well as Source links, so I will have to careful not to create duplicates. It prompts a couple more questions though :) I see I can open the Properties/Sourc...

Re: Source Documents

Re: Source Documents
I like to be able to say, one last question, but who knows :) Recap: I am adding Source links to individuals/facts. Is there simple way of determining which of my Media aren't currently a Source ? My Media are divided into Certificates, Documents, and Photographs. Certificates are sub-divided into B...

Re: Source Documents
Yes I have imported from a couple of GEDCOMS , that would explain it. I have now deleted family and linked it to the individuals. I still haven't found the most convenient way of typing up the source details, keeping the Certificate image open whilst updating the Source record. And, is the only way ...

Re: Source Documents
Thanks Mike.
I didn't know I had so some backtracking needed.BTW:
It is generally inadvisable to use Census (family) facts and better to give each spouse their own Census fact like George has.
