Census Sources
Should each census show as a separate Source , listed individually or should they be grouped like this?

Re: Link to Frame
That is a false generalisation for FMP (and other online sites) as a quick review of Church Register images suggests the majority do have some reference details such as Parish, County & Year across the top plus a reference code, which is sometimes on the side, such as PBT/2/152/482. But yes some on...

Two possible ancestors
I have found that I cannot determine which of two ancestors in the 1790s is on my line. What is the best way to add them to FH? Construct what I can for both of them and wait until one becomes the front runner? The problem I see with that is how to show their existence in a Focus view. OR. Construct...

Re: Link to Frame
Thanks Mike, It is often necessary to retain the whole document image as proof of reference numbers, dates, places, etc, in the headings. Sadly the images from FMP Parish records don't seem to include their reference, only what was written. I have been fooled by that before! Whereas in Reports it is...

Re: Link to Frame
Thanks All, I was trying to post a picture without personal details, that is why image is cropped the way it is. I was only thinking of deleting the original image as the rest wasn't relevant, however I see it has to remain. The Select Frame just gives me sizing handles, it doesn't, like the Face Fr...

Re: Link to Frame
I was hoping to see it on the Source Media Tab so I could unlink the full document image.
But it isn't there. The frame is showing on the full image.

Re: Link to Frame
Thanks Bill.
I tried that but I wasn't able to see the resultant image anywhere !!
I should add that as it was a Marriage record it is a source for a Family record.

Link to Frame
Up to now I have used this to grab a face from a photo for an Individual's Focus record but wondered if I could use it to grab the text out of an old document to use as a Source. For example, a page of a Parish register of Marriages may have 20 marriages listed and only one of them is a relation, it...

Re: How do I undo this mistake
Yes it was adding the death I realised the anomaly, that 1406/8 had the same Baptism date.
Ok that is reassuring, make him Unknown and update when I find the correct details, thanks again.

Re: How do I undo this mistake
Of course, a picture is worth....etc. I have created the diagram using the BMD template replacing the name with the Record ID. Record 1408 is incorrect and is in fact a duplicate 1406 so needs to be deleted. I am concerned that if I deleted 1408 the sons and daughters would have no connections eithe...

Re: How do I undo this mistake
Thanks Mike, Unfortunately it is not a recent mistake so the Undo methods will not work. I am not sure if your delete option will either. He is one of a list of siblings, which are correct, linked to the incorrect 'father' Could I replace the father with a new record, 'John Unknown Father', pending ...

How do I undo this mistake
I have managed to create a duplicate record of an individual and the complication is that copy 1 is the father of copy 2 ! To make it worse the father copy is the root of my tree so lots of relations follow. I am still searching for the correct individual to replace the father with. What woul...

Re: Publishing a Book
Thanks Mike, plenty to work with. In FH's book editing tools I reduced the scale of the Descendants Diagram to 50% which looked much better, but going back to View it was not fully reproduced, just repeated parts of it. Saving the book as a RTF file for MS Word seemed to work without a problem but o...

Publishing a Book
This is my first venture into making a FH book from my data, apologises if some of these questions have been raised before. 1. What is the best way of creating a Descendant's diagram so that it reads well in A4? The one created from the Book & Booklets process needs a bit of tweaking. I was thinking...

Re: FH displaying incorrectly in "half-screen" mode
Mike you have described it. The Property Box has to be just less than half a screen width in full screen. Then when the complete window it is made left/right side, the Property Box width can be altered with the normal drag on its vertical dividing border. Personally I have never had the Property box...

Re: FH displaying incorrectly in "half-screen" mode
I have used it often. Using two screens would be better but splitting it is a good compromise.

Re: FH displaying incorrectly in "half-screen" mode
Not sure if you half-screened this way but I find it the best way for windows. Full screen (maximise) the 2 apps. With the first open press the windows key with the right or left cursor key to put the app on the right or left. The second app can then be set to the other side with windows key with th...

Re: FH 7 Crash
Thanks Mike,
Yes it was the Individual's Property Box Main Tab. I have added a Baptism box as most of most of the old records I have only have those. I'll contact CP. Does FH automatically create an error report that I could attach?

FH 7 Crash
This has only happened once but I thought worth checking if I should report it to Calico. I was using an Individual's detail window and had just copied a birth date into the baptism box, gone back to the birth date box to edit it to 'c. year' and the program closed. It opened up again with no appare...
