Re: 1921 census
I would agree with you Adrian although from my perspective the poor transcription efforts from FMP extend beyond the 1921 Census - I have yet find, for example, a complete / correct transcription of the many 1871 Census records I have reviewed with virtually all having minimal "birth place" data and...

Within Tools / Fact Sets have you "ticked" the "Show Hidden" option - it is possible it's status may have been accidently changed to "hidden"!

Re: Births Index template for AS?
I am in the minority here it that I do use AS to capture BMD Index records - this is primarily because historically (viz. pre my move to FH), I recorded each Index entry as a Source record (effectively, a Splitter / Method 1 entry) and I had too many like that to go back and re-enter - I also wanted...

Re: Loss of some data after Updates
I might be misunderstanding what you have said, but - the Internet Data Matches process merely provides hints. There is no import / update to FH if you select "Accept" - you have to manually create a fact and copy / paste the FMP info.

Re: FamilySearch Id
I would have to say that my experiences with the reliability of data in the FSFT is that I would under no circumstance want it anywhere near my own family tree - so many errors!. This has nothing to do with my being a FH user, just plain common sense.

Re: Places on census templates
Have you checked the AS Tools / Options / General Settings - source text / Census: 'Where Born' Shorten option?. This puts Place data up to the second comma in the auto-text "Where Born" grid column.

Re: Internal FindMyPast Links Broken
Agreed, but given others, myself included, are not seeing this problem (I've been using hints for quite a few hours on each of the last few days via external browser), I thought it worth suggesting.

Re: Internal FindMyPast Links Broken
Have you tried changing the option within FH to have the links open in an external browser rather than the internal FH one?. Not saying this is the answer, but it might give you an idea where the problem lies (and, until you get resolution, would allow you carry on using the links).

Re: New FindMyPast Premium Subscription
Must admit I was also thinking about upgrading from Pro but given the pig's ear they've just made of my renewal and the response to my email querying this, I'll probably leave it for a while. My original "forthcoming renewal" email referred to a price of £179.99 and also added that I would be eligib...

I would agree with Colin on both counts here - I have always used an external image viewer and have already started using the new Save & Close button - a small thing but a great improvement!

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2
Neil - I've converted several hundred sources using the converter and the only one that came close to what you posted was one where I had "messed up" the original "Text From Source" value in the Source record in FH (basically, only entered a couple of characters!). I suspect Nick would want to see a...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2
I would second PP's comments about AS, and, to answer your query - I do not use Templated Sources so am converting text in Generic Sources to RTF in Generic Sources (all very successfully I might add!).

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2
Noticed an oddity where a Widow has been included on the Census record as the Mother / Mother-in-Law of the Head of Household in that the surname is not being shown (I have had a couple like this now): Can you paste in your plain text source text for this that AS is converting from? Sorry Nick, tha...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5
A frustration rather than an error! If I hit the Save button in the Source Convert window without first using the "Fit" button I receive a warning "You haven't clicked the Fit button....". But having processed upwards of 80 + Source records so far I have yet to find hitting the "Fit" button actually...

Minor display issue / comment: When first opening the Source Convert window, setting and applying the filter and then selecting a Source record, the left-most column Name is spread across multiple lines. This does not affect the actual conversion process and, on displaying the next record, the name(...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5
I have worked my way through 20+ 1939 Register records and whilst most have successfully converted, I have found that those with the vertical bar as the column separator (which I used for a short while as an option setting within AS) do not. In essence, the bar is being treated as a column value rat...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5
Nick - I've downloaded 7.5 and have started "playing" with the convert option as I have some 600+ non rich text Census entries. Obviously, a long way to go testing wise, but one observation so far (and this may just need emphasis in the Help or possibly a code change): I opened AS as normal and it r...

Re: Query No of kids
I'm not a great user of queries but I would be inclined to take a copy of the query "Miscellaneous / Count of Children (per Family)" - you could then add the name / age (or Birth year?), together with Conditions, of one of the parents and keep modifying as needed.

Re: Event order
To ensure sorting in the order you want (rather than risk FH re-sorting events), give each Fact a Sort Date - increment by one day on each and then all will be sorted in the order you want.

That's correct Neil, but nobody can find the exe that gets downloaded / installed as Mike has said. I, and others, like to have a local copy of the install file to fall back on if there are any problems with a subsequent release.

Re: Where's the data?
I'm sure Nick W, the AS Author, will respond with more detail in due course, but a few things spring to mind. I don't use Source Templates, but have you turned that processing "on" within AS (Tools / Options / Use template Sources)?. There is a section in the AS Help covering Templates, etc. For the...
