Re: FH V6.2 FMP Hints and Gedcom Size

Just double checking here Mike - do these User Credentials get backed up as part of the "Backup" Plugin or is this something we need to do separately?. Thanks

Re: Tag (Fact) import from TMG

dewilkinson - as Mike says, check the TMG Tag Definitions. I moved from TMG to FH around a year ago but spent three months before that running Imports, checking results, modifying settings in TMG and running imports again before I made the "final" switch. I certainly had to make a number of Tag def...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - in the FAQ it states " If Use their Events to decide if each person was at home or abroad on missing BMD Event dates is ticked, and the BMD Event has a Place that matches a foreign country, then that person is excluded from the search. " but I am finding records in the Result Sets that have a...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - can you clarify how the "Use their events...." option is applied please. I am doing a UK Marriages check, with this option ticked, and am getting records included in the Result Set which have the Marriage fact Place containing a non-UK location (eg " , , , Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea"). In...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - I've given this latest version (1.0) a couple of runs now and am NOT seeing the problems I reported earlier (viz. Event Data showing against the wrong person in the Record Set). I'll carry on running tests today in between "gardening duties" and report back if I find any problems.

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - I think the Marriages issue may revolve around Family records where there is only one spouse listed. I reran the Plugin and got the following: Marriages 2.JPG The above shows the first five records in the Record Set, plus Jane Tapscott at the bottom. Marjorie has four Family records - the fir...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - I have found what appears to be an issue with the new Event Data column in that it is showing data from the previous record in the result set. By way of example: Marriages.JPG Here, the Event Data against Jane Tapscott ("Married Q1 1917...") is actually the date that Edward Henry Tapscott got...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - have downloaded the latest version and will come back asap if I find any issues. So far the Plugin has treated any full DD/MMM/YY single Date as an exact Date even if qualified by Approximate, Calculated, or Estimated, but should those be treated as inexact just like partial or range Dates? D...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Thanks Mike - should have said that I ran it with the "Use their events..." option ticked - I'll try a few runs with it unticked and report back if I find any problems. Points taken re Citations, but I suppose the question comes down to use of the word "significant". I have taken the view so far tha...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike I have downloaded the latest plugin (v0.8) and run my original test against it (using the ancestor from mid 1700's) and no errors are produced. Looking at the Result Set, ID's 994 and 995 are not listed, but thinking about it, they should not be as (if my interpretation is correct), the check s...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike

Record ID 995 is the sister of ID 994. The first (and only) Fact for this Individual is a Birth Fact - Date = "After 1939" and Place = ", , , , Australia" are the only two pieces of data on the Fact. Hope this helps.

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike One issue I did have (on my first run) was a crash!. The "Searching Individuals Progress" bar ran through to the end and then started again ...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Thanks for the response Mike - points understood. For myself (and I know I am only "one"!), I like your idea of utilising the option of selecting Source Record Type (your penultimate paragraph) as I use different Source Type codes for, say, Certificates and GRO Index but as you say, there is no univ...

Re: Automated internet Marriages lookup

Mike - some feedback from my initial use of v0.4. Firstly, some clarification of my data as this may well have some relevance to the output from the Plugin: Places - I use a 5 column approach for P{laces data with, for GRO Index related records, the Registration District recorded in Columns 3 and 4 ...

Re: Address and Place, yet again

Reference Adrian's "St Marys" example, I get around this by including the town (or whatever) in the second column of the Address data using the double square brackets to ensure the reference does not get included in reports (e.g. "St Mary's Church, [[Bridgwater]]". Yes, I end up with quite a few " S...

Re: Address and Place, yet again

I probably can't add much to what you have said, but I came over from TMG with just the one set of "locations". After some thought, I decided to split the likes of house and street names (and in some circumstances, village) in to the Address data and keep Town, County / State in the Place data. I do...

Re: Sort Place Names on two or more fields

Although not exactly what is being requested, use of the Reverse Display Order does give sorting on multiple columns and is the option I use when looking for discrepancies (particularly in spellings) as, for Places , it lists Countries (my last column) in alphabetical order then in County / State or...

Re: Zoom buttons V6

I also have the update - the view changes in smallish increments as I hit either of the buttons (much as I would expect it to). Not sure what the increments should be, but starting at 100% (as shown at the bottom of the diagram) each hit of the + button goes from 100% to 114% to 133% to 160% to 200%.

Re: recording a boarder in later census

Within the AS "Census Template" you can set the "columns" for each years census. Where I want the data from a particular column to be added to the Note for each Individual, I set the Census Column / Column Type to "Generic" (as selected from the dropdown list) and set the "Recording:" option to "App...

Re: recording a boarder in later census

As Mike suggests, I add the entire household starting with the Head (in essence, added as per the order on the Census) via AS. I have set AS to add, as a Note on each Individual in FH, each persons Relationship to Head of Household, Marital Status and Occupation.

Re: recording a boarder in later census

My primary reason for this is that I have several instances where the boarder / servant has subsequently married one of the...
