Re: Update of Plugins for V7
Agreed Mike - I wouldn't (and haven't) open a Plugin page for a given plugin if I already have it in FH as I don't need to know what it does!

Re: Update of Plugins for V7
Thanks Helen and Mike for the info. I had not seen the messages that Helen mentions but as the plugin is disabled currently (in FH) I only make the odd cursory check in the Plugin Store to see if says V7 !. Helen - I particularly liked the auto add of a Task Fact to an individual, with a standard la...

Update of Plugins for V7
I fully understand and appreciate that updating of plugins will take time but is there a list anywhere of plugins that will not (or may not) be updated?. I used Helen's "Research Planner" in V6 and, although there is new research functionality in V7, I am reluctant to spend too much time investigati...

If you go to the Source Templates tab of the Records Window, you can highlight the template and hit the Delete key.

Thanks Mike. This change gave me the following in the Gedcom: 0 @S4923@ SOUR 1 TITL SMALL, Mary Ann - 1827 Baptism record 1 _TYPE Baptism (Parish Register Transcript) 1 PUBL Somerset Baptism Index D/P/HAM H 2/1/4 1 TEXT

Baptism
</d...

Re: Export Gedcom File V4.1.2
Thanks Mike - I have given this a quick try this morning. Re: Export Gedcom Plugin - Rich Text Formatting conversion issue
Thanks Mike, and a Happy New Year too!. I should have made clear in the original message - this formatting came in from an AS AutoText RTF template. I will though have a play around in FH with a "clean" source record to see what FH records for this sort of text. I did raise the issue with John C bef...

Export Gedcom Plugin - Rich Text Formatting conversion issue
I've always used the Export Gedcom plugin for generating a Gedcom file for use by GedSite when creating my website. Having upgraded both AS and FH to the latest versions and experimented with some of the basic RTF stuff (basically, text colours at this stage), I find that that the RTF conversion opt...

FH Map Cache folders
I've noticed my backup is including a large number of small files for the map cache folders similar to "C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Map\Cache\Standard OSM\8\75\95.png". Looking at the individual files, they appear to contain small segments of maps (Tiles ?) and, from a backup perspect...

Re: Order Facts by Sort Date functionality changed in V7?
Thanks Mike. No real interest in adding a Sort Date to new events (Birth or whatever) as it is mostly unnecessary (as you imply), but my interest is more in the error checking side of things for my existing events. If I make a change to the Date on an existing event (particularly via AS which I use ...

Order Facts by Sort Date functionality changed in V7?
Just checking that I'm not missing something obvious with the new V7 version of the plugin. The details with the plugin say that in V7 it will "....turn each LMO Sort Date into a real Sort Date" whereas in the V6 version the plugin created the LMO Sort Date but crucially (to me!), also checked exist...

Re: Autotext query
I use AS for capture of BBMDB and Census data, and have modified a number of its AutoText templates. Certainly auto capture in to the text of things like Mothers Maiden Name (GRO / Births), full details from the Census, etc are very easily handled and flow through in to FH and then, via the Export p...

Re: AS7 - Restoring Previous Census Templates
Nick will probably come back in due course, but AS now has templates for England, Wales, etc., as separate templates rather than bulked for the UK as before. Although I took regular monthly backups of my templates I didn't import these and have gone down the (slow) path of making my changes again!. ...

Re: On the fence FH7
PP - I have upgraded both FH and AS to the latest and carried on "as normal". I use AS for capturing BBMDB and for Census details, and utilise the AS Auto Text Templates - the latter I find particularly good as, ultimately via my GedCom export to GedSite (using Mike T's Export plugin), I have well f...

Re: Sources
Hi Jan. Firstly, you only need to create a single Source record for the book. Thereafter, when you create the Citation that links, say, the Individual to the Source, you can add the "Where Within Source" field to record the specifics for that person (eg. the page number and, possibly, additional tex...

Have to say, I used Microsoft's Chromium Edge and the download worked perfectly (viz. it was not blocked) - I always use Save rather than any Run option.

Like others here, I use the Address to record church / cemetery / street names, etc but EVERY address record I create always has the parish or town included in the square privacy brackets.

Re: Unknown Child
Although FMP indicates on the entry screen that the Mother's Maiden Name is only applicable for births from 1911, they have actually been adding them in the last year or so (possibly longer) for births prior to that year. I have picked up a number of maiden surnames from the FMP transcripts for 1860...

Re: Sentence construction
Yes, as Mike suggests it does need an edit of each years templates, but that's a once-off job and does not really take too long. In essence, open the respective years template, select the Census Column , change the Column Type to "Generic" and Recording to "Append to census event local note". I have...

Re: Sentence construction
If, as Mike suggests, you are using AS to capture the census details, then another option is to modify the AS template for the census records such that some data is recorded in the Note on the Census fact. I don't use the Residence Fact or the Occupation Fact when recording data from Census records....
