Re: Replace Standard Birth Fact Sentence
Any change you make to a Fact Type sentence is automatically used for all existing and future facts of that type UNLESS you have chosen to override the sentence at an Individual / Family fact level.

Re: New user, editing fact Type sentence
Re, I think I may have too many balls in the air at once. and not directly answering your current questions as they have been dealt with above but just to say I spent well over four months "playing" with FH imports from TMG before I finally "went live". Often I would do multiple imports in a day, go...

Re: AS census Method 1 New User basic query
As Bill mentioned, I'm sure Nick will respond on this if there is a better way. But for info, I modify the Census template columns where I want specific data to appear in an Individuals Census Fact Note - I use this method to have Relationship to Head of Household, Marital Status and Occupation adde...

Re: Ancestral Sources 1939 Register
You might want to have a look within AS at the Tools / Census Templates where you can find the templates for every census / year combination - I found these invaluable, when I initially started using AS, to understand how the census data was formatted and the variables, etc., that were used in vario...

Re: Just creating a new source only
I also use a slightly modified version of the Clone Any Record plugin for virtually all non BBMDB & Census (for which I use AS). This way it ensures I get consistent wording in my sources for things like Probate, Ships Passenger Lists, etc. - items which I don't see "every day" and for which I want ...

Backup Plugin throws error after update to v3.1
The Check Installed Plugins plugin identified that the Backup...Settings plugin had been updated, and subsequently downloaded / updated the one on my laptop. In running the new version (3.1) an error was immediately displayed: Screenshot 2021-05-14 181743.jpg For the record, I also tried manually do...

Re: Add word to dictionary?
Using the "Ignore Spelling" option adds the word to the custom dictionary - per the Help: " Ignore Spelling This menu command appears if you click on a word that is flagged as misspelled. Taking this option will ensure that the spellchecker no longer treats this word as misspelled. You can view and ...

Re: think this is an ancestral sources question
Perhaps I'm missing something here, but what AutoText do you select in AS, as the "Default" Rich Text template already gives you a table that is auto populated as you add individuals?.

Remove Link to Individual in Source record
I have a table in the Text from Source in a Census Source record that includes Links to Individuals in some cells. I now want to remove some of those links and, in essence, turn them back in to "ordinary" text but I cannot see a delete / remove link option. I can see options to add and to edit links...

Re: Import from TMG
Derek - to add to your "encouraged" state, I moved from TMG shortly after support for the product finished. I spent nearly three months continuously running imports within FH and then going back to TMG to adjust items, often after advices found here on the FHUG, until I got to the stage the data in ...

Have you tried using the Map Life Facts plugin?. I find it a more reliable option than the mapping built in to FH, although its reliability will obviously depend on the structure and location of your Places.

Re: FMP Transcript of Birth Place - Hong Kong
Interestingly when I chose the "Report an Error" option, the resulting screen showed "Birth Place" as China and, on the next row, "Birth Place other as transcribed" equal to Hong Kong!. It is the transcript of a 1901 Census, with the attached image (the one listing a group of houses and the individuals in them) clearly showing Hong Kong as the place of birth.

FMP Transcript of Birth Place - Hong Kong
Over the last few weeks I have found a number of people in my tree who were born in Hong Kong circa 1890 (per Civil Service birth records, etc). After they returned to the UK I have found Census records for them, but the transcript of these on FMP shows Place of Birth as China, although the underlyi...

Re: Import RM to do lists?
Agreed Helen. Personally, I still prefer the Research Planner plugin as that gave me facts that appeared on the Facts tab for an Individual, which is what I use most. I don't find the new FH7 Research functionality "works" for me, and, indeed I have reverted to the pre Research Planner processing by...

Re: Family Historian 7, Ancestral Sources 7 & Gedsite do not play well together
I've been using GS 4 for a few days now - still early days but am finding that things like usage of Rich Text in AS is coming through to FH and on to GS via the Export plugin very well. I should perhaps add that I am still using generic Sources, etc., so am not using Source Templates.

Re: AutoTexts - Census
When you have selected Census you just select AutoText as you would for Births, etc. It will be populated with the content of the Census grid once you have input data, plus other values if you have made changes to the AutoText template - by way of example, I have modified the default AutoText for th...

Re: AutoTexts - Census
I think you may be confusing two different things. The AutoText templates appear, if selected, towards the bottom in the text section. The Census templates are used to define what columns should in the main entry part of the window for Census entries - these will normally be different for each Count...
