Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Hi Mike - Back to THG/FH/sort dates after a nice holiday..... I have been checking my test program (2,000 people) and everything looks OK with the sort dates. So I tried the latest plugin .9 with my whole project - over 40,000 people. Unfortunately there were a couple of problems. Error msg: Invalid...

It doesn't look like it made it.
Mike - why is it so important you actually see the property box?
I have indicated what the values are.

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Mike - I looked at the result set of the plugin, and that shows the date as May 1648 and the s_date as Nov 1648. So the date just isn't making it into the Property Box. The only 4 facts/tags for Elizabeth Hutchins were Will, Death, Immigration & Birth. As you can see from the GEDCOM she had more tag...

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Hi Mike - I ran the conversion with a new FH file (direct import from TMG) and an new GEDCOM. Unfortunately the sort date for the will is still incorrect. In TMG it is Nov 1658. In FH it is May 31, 1658 GEDCOM 0 @I1890@ INDI 1 REFN 1890 1 NAME Elizabeth /Hutchins/ 1 TITL Widow 1 NAME Elizabeth /Curt...

Mike - Sorry to take so long - it's a very busy time of year, and I had written a reply last night & lost it all.... Problem: Will - in TMG date May 1658 sort date Nov 1658. Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Mike - I downloaded and ran the latest plugin - on a new test copy of my data (I reload my data every time from TMG). Unfortunately, nothing changed. The will tag, with an actual date of May 1658 and sort date of Nov 1658 ended in FH with a sort date of May 31 1658 . The Will tag was not the last ta...

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Hi Mike - I have done some testing - some of the results are OK, but others aren't. Right now I'm just working with the Individual sort dates (not family). Should get that sorted out first. <joke> I have a person with a will TMG dated May 1658 and sort date of Nov 1658. The fact after running the pl...

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
I have just seen this discussion - I've been too busy changing dates in my TMG project to accommodate FH no-sort-dates!! This was a long thread - I'm not exactly sure what to do exactly. Are these the steps? 1. Direct import from TMG to FH (new project) 2. Create a TMG GEDCOM (which will use sort da...

Undated fact in relation to death event
In an earlier thread 'Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to Gedsite Mike posted: I cannot answer why there is no Pre-Death setting for Normal Time Frame ~ you would need to ask Calico Pie. However, if on the All tab you move such undated Life Facts to just before Death then they should stay there. Alter...

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Mike - Aha, you found the problem! Thank you very much. You're correct, the Obit fact was a Life Event, not a Post-Death Event. I don't quite agree with the reasoning of putting an undated life fact after a dated life fact, that the death date doesn't override all, but it's great to know why! In my ...

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
The last ones.
Notice the Residence_Good_family - that came out as a Life event before death, even though we said there was a bug with family Life events
I have identified in the file name the fact and whether it is 'good'

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Hi Mike
I looked at the Genealogy, NoteSS, Religion, Residence facts.
I am attaching snips of the Properties Box/facts tab.
All the facts are identified as Life.
I have attached a snip of the 'bad' order and then the 'good' order
Let me know if this is OK.

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Hi Mike - I have spent the past few days going over my data to see the extent of the problem with no sort dates. The problem is larger than I thought. I have gone through at least 800 people. I added more people to my test project. 250 were living, so we're down to 550 people. Over 20 people have mu...

Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Hi Mike - Analyzed a little bit more. In looking at an individual the information in Gedsite corresponds in order with the information on the Facts tab of the individual. Hi Mike - Thanks for the info about how to see Family info in Gedcom and how to see Family info in FH. I see that in the Family section of the Gedcom the Marr tags have sort dates. Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Hi Mike - Fact NoteSS. Individual Fact. No date (from TMG) HAS sort date Fact NoteSS. Family Fact. No date (from TMG) does NOT have sort date. I can tell this because in the GedSite program John Cardinal wrote a browser to look at the Gedcom file. You enter an individual person's ID and it will brin...

Hi Mike - Yes, that worked! Very nice, thank you very much. The sort dates are in the correct format. Wonderful! But of course, everything is not perfect... Re: Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Hi Mike I ran the UDF in the Tools/Uncategorized data/find uncategorized data. No UDFs were found. I did a direct import from TMG. I looked at the Gedcom with notepad. All _SDATEs are irregular. Also I found 2 tags that had the same date: Jun 2002. And per your design (if I understand it correctly),...

Format of Sort Dates in GEDCOM to GedSite
Hi Mike - I didn't think at first that your plugin Export Gedcom File would be helpful to me, but I'm trying it again! I sent a Gedcom file to GedSite, but there is a problem with the sort dates, and GedSite calls them irregular dates. I wrote to John Cardinal (creator of GedSite) and he said date f...

Re: Importing from TMG - no sort dates in FH
Helen and Mike - Yes, I did know about manually moving the events around to create the correct order. However, I have over 21,000 sort-date only tags in TMG. I can work that down to about 15,000 with an automatic date put in for tags after the death date, but it does present too big a hurdle for the...
