Hi Mike -
I had not reported this to CP because I didn't know if it was a bug or a 'feature' or something I had done incorrectly.
I shall report it to them.

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event
Hi Mike - Thanks
I imported from TMG again, using the same parameters. I deleted the 2 witnesses from Charles Spittler, kept the event with him & his wife. It imported as a single fact. Blue dot.
I think this is a problem. Or anyway a change.....
Thanks - Linda Reinfeld

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event
Mike - I do understand the difference between a red bullet & a blue bullet. The first sentence of my post says 'I find my family tags/events that import into FH are importing as single events'. My question is why is an event with 2 principals importing as a single event and not a couple event. Just ...

Re: Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event
Hi Mike - (Background story) I know that I have to move from TMG at some point, and FH has been my program of choice. However I have chosen not to make the transition until I am forced to - TMG is the best program, but it is unsustainable. So I prepare, and did so with v6; sort dates were a problem ...

Importing from TMG - Family event vs single event
I find my family tags/events that import into FH are importing as single events with the 2nd person in the family event importing as a witness to the event. Why is this happening? This definitely did not happen during FHv6. Why was this change made? My example of an Individual Narrative: Charles Edw...

Media captions - Link Note or picture note
I have noticed with my media photos that are linked to people the caption is written in the Link Note. Nothing is written in the Picture note. Because I have Use Link Note As Caption checked the photos have captions. But I would have thought in importing the caption would have gone into the Picture ...

narrative reports use italics for children's data
I use narrative reports a lot to check my sentences and data. For all of the narrative reports (Individual Narrative, Descendants by generation and ancestors by generation), the data for the children is written in italics. I would very much like not to have that data in italics, but I don't know how...

Re: import same-sex partner from TMG to FH
Jane I do not see how FH can handle a partnership. I can identify any two people as married (same sex is OK); I can then change the status to 'never married'; however they are still reported as married in the Individual narrative. And, I assume, if they are transferred to another program (GedSite fo...

Re: import same-sex partner from TMG to FH
I should also add that at first I added my 'partner' tag as an EVEN (event) not a marriage. But what happened then was that FH saw a residence tag with 2 unmarried people as principals, and didn't like that. Same with the hobbies/interests and the marriagenotes tags. That is why I changed to the 'pa...

Re: import same-sex partner from TMG to FH
This post has been removed because it contains data about living people. Thanks David Even though there were 2 'marriages' they seem to be jumbled up together. Here are the screen shots of the left-hand side of the people. The 3 'marriages' are too big to fit in one screen shot. I've done them as at...

import same-sex partner from TMG to FH
My sort-date match brought up this problem but I thought it deserved a new topic. I have a person who has the following tags/events in TMG Birth Occupation Partner 1996 (2 principals) Residence 1997 (2 principals) ... Marriage 2011 (2 principals) MarriageNotes 2011 (one day later) (2 principals) Par...

Re: Sort dates with plugin for TMG import
Mike - In the instructions for the Plugin - Import Fact Sort Dates - this is the part about places: Then at Step 7: Option screen 3 ensure Place Levels has every item ticked that your project uses, such as Addressee, Detail, Postal Code & Phone, but NOT Commas When Missing. This seems to identify wh...

Re: Sort dates with plugin for TMG import
Hi Mike - I redid the import and matching GEDCOM sort date file and came up with very different results - so I think that all place levels should be identified in the Knowledge Base instructions. (Actually, did you do that already? I saw it mentioned in the instructions. I had never looked at the in...

Re: Sort dates with plugin for TMG import
Hi Mike - When I created the GEDCOM for the sort-date match I used what is called 'short place field', which is city, county, state. I never thought that the GEDCOM match would rely on place data. I am rerunning the GEDCoM extract for sort dates and choosing to import all fields in the place. I will...

Re: Sort dates with plugin for TMG import
Hi Mike - I'm sorry to have used the Education tag as an example. To me the difference between attributes and events is totally confusing. The way I have it set up now is sort-of working, so I don't think I will change anything. Usually the sort date is OK with those tags, it's just that you don't t...

Sort dates with plugin for TMG import
I am using FH v6.2.7, plugin Order Facts by Sort Date version 1.1. Everyone of my tags/facts in TMG has a sort date. Therefore all of the PlugIn results should be using Rule 2. When I run the plugin, I get 32424 records in result set - about half say GEDCOM fact is missing and the other half say GED...

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Hi Mike I was finally able to run the latest version of your plug-in, and I was able to complete the process - previously it had aborted due to errors. So that's good news. I have 40,000+ people. Unfortunately it takes me about 3 hours to run the Gedcom export (in order to match the dates). And I th...

Thanks for the reminder that there was a new plugin - I had forgotten, the sort date post was so long! Ran it, and it fixed one problem - I will look at others. Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Hi Mike - Looking closely at a sort date: I am using a GedCom file. I believe Rule #2 should be applied - the _SDATE from the file should be used. For person #12 tag NotePersonal TMG has no date, sort date of 1867. Gedcom has no DATE, _SDATE of 1867. FH has no date, sort date of 8 February 1864. Thi...

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Yes, the dates are a problem. FH will not let you enter a date between 3 sep 1752 and 13 sep 1752.
I removed the day, and it is fine.
Perhaps a statement should be made in the Knowledge Base - do not tick 'commas when missing'

Re: Import from TMG with Sort Date in GEDCOM
Mike - I have 4 individual records that are a problem - and they are all dates between 3 Sep 1752 and 13 Sep 1752. I didn't even know about the missing 10 days of Sep 1752. I shall fix those dates. The plug-in again posted a fail to complete message. This time the number after the colon was 2078. Th...
