Re: Questions from TMG Refugee
In reply to Carl's point nbr 1 - about the person view showing all facts - The fact's tab shows most of the information - however one needs to click on the Notes tab to find notes about the fact - and that is where important information is displayed. It would be much easier to have all the info abou...

Re: Standard name
Thanks for all the replys! I have been trying out various things - adding soundex to the records view, adding the name as a note, etc. The discussion brought up ideas for all my other kinds of names - alternate spelling, nicknames, married names, name-changes. Names are definitely a challenge. Thank...

Re: Standard name
Thanks for the replies. The index I am talking about in FH is the records window. I use an online system, Second Site, which when I transition to FH I will be using GedSite - a website builder from John Cardinal. That system has an index of everyone on the site. I don't think in FH you can search by...

Standard name
In TMG I have a name tag that is a standardized name. For example - Sargent can be spelled many ways, including Serjeant. For Peter Serjeant I have another name tag called custom-name, which is Peter Sargent. I have the name tag set not to print, but it is used in indexes, including an online system...

change status of fact type
I would like to change the status of some facts - change the status to disabled. I don't see how to do this. These are facts that I do not intend to use, that I will never use. Most are in the standard set and cannot be deleted.
Thanks for the help -

Re: Name on property box and Family box the same
Hi Mike - My data is not ready at all yet for FH. And a big part of my system is a website. I will be using GedSite, and that is not ready also. I intend to get FH & GedSite in tip top shape, and migrate once a week to capture the latest data. I don't know how long I will do that - probably until ei...

Re: Name on property box and Family box the same
Neil - like you, I went to the Property box cog wheel to see where I had customized the name (I couldn't remember). It does seem like the natural thing to do..... Mike - Didn't know the correct words, thanks - Focus Window. Why can't the name on the focus window be modified? There are lots of exampl...

Name on property box and Family box the same
My property box name looks good - it's the way I want it.
The name in the family box is not OK. How do I fix that? Actually I don't need the ID number, just Mr before the name.
Thank you for the help.

Re: Plugin Export Gedcom File
Mike - Coming from TMG I have not understood attributes very well. I tried to export my data using attributes as much as possible, but the Occupation data did not fit well so I made it into an event. I never imagined that it would be OK to have the same name fact be either an attribute or an event. ...

Plugin Export Gedcom File
Mike - I am having a problem with a fact/attribute in the Gedcom you create from the plugin Export Gedcom File v 4.6 In FH I have a fact called Occupation. It is a fact, a custom fact, and the status is checked. There is also something else called Occupation. However, this is an attribute. It is in ...

Re: Sentence different from property box & report
Mike -
Thanks, it worked. But not until I fiddled with the report options, which you had mentioned. I guess the checkbox 'include event attr/notes' means those notes that are not identified in the sentence templates.
Thank you - this solves lots of problems.

Sentence different from property box & report
My sentence as shown in the property box is different from the sentence shown in a report. My sentence template: {%CUR_PRIN.NAME:FIRST%} <and {=FieldText(Witness(%FACT%,"Principal 2"),'INDI.NAME:FIRST')}> had {note} children The sentence from the property box: William and Mercy had no children. The ...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Mike - Looks great. The exception report is something I can deal with on an individual basis. You said - keep the plugin. When I downloaded & ran it it ended up in the folder: I have Win10 windows/Program Data/Calico Pie/Family Historian/Plugins. Is that the correct place to 'keep' it? Can I transfe...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Mike - I have 220 to fix. For the plug-in to detect 'as an infant' in the note field and then set the death age to Infant & then delete the note - Wow, perfect. I would do it myself, except that there is no way to export 'as an infant' to the death age field which means I would have to post-process,...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Hi Mike - It works great. I didn't realize I had so many 'non-conforming' deaths. And then I realized they were all from my TMG event DeathInfant. I changed those to death in TMG and put 'as an infant' in the memo field in TMG. I will go through my data and figure that out. But in the future, when I...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Hi Mike - I just checked my data - I am missing 7 death dates - Bad Data, I will fix those records. And a few have no day. I will also fix those. All other records have a full date. It will be either a birth or baptism. I did a small sample - 30 out of 295, none had a qualifier. If they do, just ide...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Mike - Thanks for the code. It is excellent for 2 of my 3 death dates problems! It gives the date in years for everyone, and if I enter the age as Infant (using age entry assistant) it doesn't say 'age 0'. Excellent. The problem seems still to be with DeathBaby. If you run the plugin I understand th...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Mike - My Death fact is: {individual} died {date} {place} <{note}> <at age {%FACT.DATE:AGE_AT%}> which produces the sentence: He died on 24 March 1885 in Crawford County,Pennsylvania at age 72. The sentence is what I am interested in - for reports and an online system. If you write the plugin to cre...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
Mike - TMG does not have an 'age' field in the death tag (or in any other tag). It's much easier for the computer to calculate the age. Therefore I changed the FH standard death tag to calculate the age, which shows up in years - I am happy with that. Under 1 year old the age is 0. I am not happy wi...

Re: Importing from TMG death of a baby
I have 394 DeathBaby facts. Too many to manually calculate the age at death.
However, you gave me an idea. I also have DeathInfant tag, when I have no idea how old the child was. I shall give them a regular death tag and add 'as an infant' in the notes.
Thanks, Linda

Importing from TMG death of a baby
I am using TMG9 & FH 7.0.8 I have a normal death tag that imports to FH with an age in years - it is fine. In TMG I have a death tag called DeathBaby, which calculates age in months and days. I use it for those who died before 1 year. I realize FH doesn't have a fact of DeathBaby, but when I change ...

Printing Sources on new page for narrative reports
Using v7. Printing an Individual Narrative Report. I have radio button ticked under Options/Sources tab When I view the report in FH the Sources start on a new page. I save the report to a .rtf file. When I look at the .rtf report, the sources print on the same page as the beginning of the report. H...
