Re: FH7 Paragraphs missing in reports

In TMG a work round was to use undated and unnamed events. My TMG import of one tree much edited in TMG to provide a complete text biography of my mother in law shows in fh many unlabelled and in many cases undated event fields. These "facts" were used only to impose a carriage return within the tex...

Re: Publishing report

Agreed, it is maddening having to paste reference in the note field, re edit to a singe line and then paste it into the correct field. Why didnt Calico Pie fix this? I am old and vague and using version 7 because I believe in supporting genealogy software designers. But I am not sure what advantages...

Re: View Standard & Custom Queries

Jane began her Gedmatch query with ^ so it came top in the sort order . In Version 6, one clicked the Query icon and Jane's query opened and the blue arrow ran it straight away. Now it does not. Queries are subdivided which means an extra key stroke each time. I thought I could alter that by moving ...

Re: Version 7 on lap top

Lorna, Thank you so much. For taking care of me. I can now tell you that Calico Pie, as always came to the rescue, very kindly sent me an email link and the fh7 programme downloaded and installed on the other computer. Of course I feel ashamed that I get so worried and need help but now it is all ov...

Re: Version 7 on lap top

It is these repeated failures both to download to the lap top from Calico Pie and to run it from the copied file that has taken so much time.

Re: Version 7 on lap top

I did that. i.e. copied it across using a hard drive. But I get an error message that something needed is missing?

fh 7 is paid for and installed on my main computer.
Not on the lap top. (Obviously I dont use both at the same time. )

Re: Version 7 on lap top

Thank you for answering, No. I bought the new programme and paid for it already. I did try the free sample because I tried everything, including putting the file onto a hard drive to copy it to the other computer. It could be that I failed because one has to type in the credit card number a second t...

Re: Version 7 on lap top

I am going to contact Calico Pie about this.
I am 81 years old ad I have lost a day and a half of my working life failing to set up fh7.
It is a good thing we are locked down as fh7 means I couldnt work in the archives even if it were allowed.

Thank you for posting about this plug in. I have been working down my plug ins one by one.

However, will now leave it a week or two as I got the same warning with Mike's Quick Family Facts.

If you want to see which plugins have been upgraded to V7 compatibility, see https://pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk/standard-plugins I have been to this link several times. I searched for V.7 and got not found. All my plug ins were deactivated unless one selects one to Edit, Then the word disap...

Re: Is FH As Good As We Think

I dont take the view that it always simpler to use the project straight from the box. I started a couple of times playing with fh and didnt really "get" it. Then when I needed to build some big research databases, I read on line reviews saying fh was the best for one name or historical research, and...

Re: Export GEDCOM File - Roots Magic - standardized place names

I regularly use the export GEDCOM plug in to export to Rootsmagic. I own the software. Version 7. I didnt ask deep questions, Mike, and have had no complaints. I keep one or two of my family trees in Rootsmagic anyway. RM is my regular software for sharing because the free version of RM allows anoth...

Re: Recording DNA matches in Family Historian

Jane, I may have missed something here. However what happens if an individual with whom one has one match also has a second match to another person on one's tree. As set up, I think your query shows each match only once. Can the query be adapted so one sees every instance and one gets that person li...

Exporting without living people

When sending gecoms to ancestry and fellow researchers, one often needs to remove living people. This was very easy in TMG. I cannot understand the two sets of instructions in fh. I have not used flags in fh. and when I look at the glossary of terms in fh help, Flags is not even on the list. To run ...

Re: Sending a list of people

Thank you both. I will now do this.
I observe that in both cases the solution involves running a query. Which did occur to me but it seemed a bit odd to concoct a query that would include everyone.

Sending a list of people

I have a project listing 145 people mentioned in the correspondence of my uncle who was killed aged 20 in WW1. It holds little data, For some men I have date of birth, date of death and the odd note about regiment. What is the best way of sending this list of names to a military researcher who knows...

If your numbers are not working, I would contact them as Calico Pie are the people who handle subscripti...

Re: Individual Records List

There could be several reasons. Depending on your data entry. Punctuation and spaces will disturb the sort order. What do you want to discover? I have never tidied up my place list but yes I do query my data. Regularly. I was helped by tuition from Mike Tate when I began and I use no tools or tips except for using fh Query. To select a place in a census or a b.m.d. involves one line of the query. I keep some qu...

I have a named list of about 85 people. I want to send their details to someone who doesnt use Gedcom.
