Burial and Interred (or similar) Icons on Diagrams
I am currently using the following two expressions to display an Icon for a Burial Fact on diagrams: =IsTrue((%INDI.BURI.SOUR>_TYPE% = "Burial Record (Parish Register)") and Exists(%INDI.BURI.SOUR>OBJE>%)) and =IsTrue((%INDI.BURI.SOUR>_TYPE% = "Burial Record (Cemetery Register)") and Exists(%INDI.BU...

Re: Expressions and Icons Again - Success?
Yes, I did see your reply and it is a good idea. My intention in the first instance is to have a set of icons colour coordinated with the light green Marriage icon as a first step. However, as I assist as a volunteer at my local Family History Society and a number of members are commencing using Fam...

Re: Expressions and Icons Again - Success?
Have amended sufficient icons (Census) to show how they now appear below individuals with the colour coordinated approach. Thought I would post what they look like at present......I quite like them. Now need to complete the remaining ones and amend my Legend panel accordingly. 0 NewIcons.jpg I inten...

Re: Expressions and Icons Again - Success?
Hi Tatewise In my enthusiasm to get the icons to display as I wanted, I chose a contrasting colour for the census icons....... it didn't occur to me to colour co-ordinate the census backgrounds with the respective marriage to make a similar grouping....... That's given me something to think about......

Re: Diagram Icon and Expression Problem
Hi Tatewise Looks like you hit the nail on the head...... Have just replaced the INDI.FAMS>CENS with CUR~FAMS>CENS for the census entries when married (co-residence) which has done the trick and the icons appear as expected......most chuffed...... Again many thanks.........I am determined to get to ...

Diagram Icon and Expression Problem
Hi I have encountered an issue which has left me somewhat flummoxed in my use of expressions in order to display icons on diagrams. I am using the expressions as listed in my previous thread 14373|Icons, Expressions Diagrams . I have re organised the expressions dealing with the various censuses for...

Re: Icons, Expressions Diagrams
Hi All Thanks for the replies. Please see an image below showing how my icons appear below an individual's box using my current list of Expressions: The Bible icon represents a Baptism and the Cross/Grave represents a burial (temporary icons until I find or design something more suitable). Re: Icons, Expressions Diagrams
Hi Tatewise Many thanks for the prompt response. However, I think you are crediting me with more knowledge of expressions than I deserve. I have read your response a few times and believe I can see what you are getting at but don’t seem to be able to compile the respective expressions that you are a...

Icons, Expressions Diagrams
Hi Have just started trying to use expressions to place icons beneath individual boxes on diagrams. After some time looking at the knowledge base and forums have come up with the following expressions (plagiarised from various forum threads etc.) to show Births; Baptisms, Marriages; Deaths; Burials;...

Re: Marriage Fact - Witness Sentences
Hi Tatewise
Excellent, I should have looked deeper in the Fact Definition area......missed the Roles button....
Now need to add
in the other roles (and check sentence wording) as required to improve the narrative report layouts.
Many Thanks
Shiriki

Marriage Fact - Witness Sentences
Hi I'm gradually getting to grips with sentence templates and attempting to customise them for improved reading within narrative reports. At present my Sentence template for a marriage fact appears as follows:

{individual} married {spouse/her/him} {date} {place} {their ages}.
<The best m...

Derek In response to your request in how to return to the last person used in a tree...... Family Historian, FMP and Libraries

Good news that Family Historian can now link and obtain hints from FindMyPast…….even better would be a percentage reduction in subscription similar to that one can obtain from MyHeritage.....(hint hint).

Re: Short Form for Repeated Place Names
I have been having further thoughts about this issue. How about this for an idea (although I have no idea how complex this would be to code within Family Historian). Open the Place List (Tools>Work with Data>Places) and in front of each Place you are presented with a ‘Tick Box’ to enable ‘Use Short ...

Short Form for Repeated Place Names

I should point out that I am currently using only the Place field (and totally disregarding the Address field) to identify locations for Facts....

Titling of Source Records
Hi I am using Method 1 to record my Sources and have so far entered Birth, Marriage, Death Certificates, Baptism Records etc. and linked them to relevant images. Re: Moving Media to Sub-folders
Many thanks Tatewise for your expertise on these matters. Using Windows Explorer, I can successf...

Re: Moving Media to Sub-folders
Hi Tatewise Many thanks for the prompt response and I will certainly look again at the knowledge base. In answer to your query: My laptop has two hard drives. The C: drive is of the SSD variety and the D: drive a 'conventional' one. As the C: drive is fairly small, in an attempt to conserve space fo...

In essence, from the initial family tree screen, one can zoom in to reveal more information and detail if it is available without having ...
