Great idea. I will finish the record I am doing so I know what tweaks I need. I probably should go to work first though!LornaCraig wrote: ↑20 Dec 2020 13:18I suggest you start a new topic in the Ancestral Sources forum about this. Nick will be able to tell you what is, or is not, possible to achieve with a customised template.

Re: Autotext query
Have you had a look at ORA, Online Repository Assistant (https://www.ora-extension.com/en/contents.htm) ? I have been using if for over 6 months now on v6 and now v7 and has saved me hours of transcribing records off genealogy websites. Not free but at $24 pa well worth it in my opinion. Effectivel...

Re: Autotext query
Thanks everyone. I have used AS for all my British records and think it is amazing. I've managed to get halfway through creating a birth register template which looks great Only downside I can see so far is the language and format side of things. So for example it starts off with "L'an mil huit cent...

Re: Autotext query
Great I will try AS. I tried using the autotext in FH and it kind of worked okay, but there was a lot of text to go through and replace, AS, but automate it a little. Fingers crossed

Re: Autotext query
Take a look at Autohotkey . It takes an input file, which contains simple text instructions for autohotkey, telling it what text to enter when a hotkey is pressed. e.g. Among my many instructions, I have programmed it to type 2/4/1911 whenever I press <Ctrl> 1 , which saves me entering the 1911 cen...

Autotext query
Morning everyone Hope you are all well. I am now trying to focus on my French side of my family (loving how all the records are online. not loving how there are no searchable index, but such is life!) Most of the civil and parish records have the same text with a few tweaks and as much as I'm loving...

Re: Help modifying a query re 1939 register
Thanks Mike. Yes that's the query. I had a feeling I hadn't created it myself! I did modify it to sort by surname. I used the missing census plugin which was good but gave me way to much info, but adding that extra line to remove those with the census has made a huge difference. Thanks both of you f...

Re: Help modifying a query re 1939 register
Thanks so much for that. That worked. The English bit for now will stay as my mum is french so half (or maybe not half) are all based in France so it would take ages to filter them. I reckon once I have done this list, I can maybe remove that qualifier to catch any others. Or maybe exclude all Mum's...

Help modifying a query re 1939 register
Hello I have recently got access to the 1939 register so have been ploughing through it. I have a query (can't remember if it came with FH or if I downloaded it) which gives me a list of a possible people for the register to check. Is there anyway to exclude those that I have found the record? In a ...

Missing Census Facts
I thought I would run the Missing Census Plugin and I can't seem to get the FMP link to work. The Ancestry links work fine and searching FMP from within FH works fine. Any ideas?

Re: Diagram code question
How does PrevSib and NextSib work? Just wondering how it would be affected by the person I select. So if I choose the eldest as my root person, or the third out of five, how would this show? It probably makes sense to list all the siblings in chronological order.

Re: Diagram code question
It's been so long since I did any programming I've forgotten the terminology. When I said proper I meant things like call functions and non-proper I meant expressions. I googled Lua If statements and so tried using "if...then...else...end if" which is the same as I was used to and that didn't work. ...

Re: Diagram code question
Great I will stick with your suggestions. Is there a list of functions that can be used in this context? I could only find information for writing 'proper' functions. (I hope that makes sense).

Re: Diagram code question
Thank you so much. I will have a play later. I found another thread about ungrouping charts, does that mean that I can just add this code to one section ie the centre? If so I wouldn't need the part checking for the root person.

Diagram code question
Hi I decided to have a crack and writing a bit of very minor code in a fan chart. I have a full fan chart but in the centre I have the root person plus all siblings. Basically I wanted to do one for my two kids. After a lot of tweaking I finally have it in a way that will work even if the second chi...

Re: Pedigree Chart help
Right I have tried both quickly and they look great, my question now is how do you refresh the information? For the reports there is the rebuild report option. I changed the diagram root and I can't get it to refresh. Do you need to run it completely again?

Pedigree Chart help
Hi I am doing a short course and need to prepare a pedigree chart similar to the attached. I am going round in circles. I was going to use the Outline report, though I can't seem to get the different events on a separate line rather than in one paragraph. I was then looking at the diagrams but tryin...

Re: "Syncing" with Ancestry
Well I now have two trees with the same name. I am loving the internet search part of FH so once I fix my ancestry tree it should be sorted. I suppose I do another merge/compare it will highlight which ones to amend. Or I will just go down the list of people.

Re: "Syncing" with Ancestry
Hi thanks for thr links. I had already seen them but theu hadn't answered my question. I have decided tovdo a test on a smaller version of my tree that is still on ancestry. Looks like when you upload tjough it creates a brand new tree. I tried to create one with the same name to see if that would w...
