Witness Roles - again....

I'm just looking at Ancestral Sources to re-enter the Death Certificates I have into FH to give me consistency of Source record naming and titling the Media record attached to each source. I may be missing something and I know that the witness functionality in FH is very new but is there anyway that...

Re: Recording Diary Entries

Thanks for the input on this one. Apart from my own use the major external use of my data will be to a Web Site on disc for family and relations. TMG had a companion product called Second Site that produced really good web sites. I haven't delved into FH web site functionality yet. I think my next s...

Recording Diary Entries

As part of my move from TMG to FH I have decided to review all of the data/Exhibits I have for direct line ancestors and I have to say I'm surprised how much "stuff" I have collected over the last 20+ years that hasn't been recorded, and I have only done myself, parents and started grandparents. Any...

Re: Change any fact tag plugin

@Mike, Thanks that worked. I did have a little trouble getting the correct Fact in the end, (I only wanted to change one of the 100's of notes I have). I used the date filter and it took a while to figure out what Date format was required. It might be worth making a small change to the "Help" showin...

Change any fact tag plugin

I am cleaning up my data following on from a TMG import. I have a Custom Individual Event Fact called "Note" that I want to change to a Custom Individual Attribute called "News Article". I have written a query and can see the data in the Note Fact, its the second Note for the person so the data is i...

Re: Repeated Fact types

@Mike, I have checked TMG and as you say its a custom Tag with the GEDCOM of EVEN. Presume this is why the import created an undefined Cremation Fact type. I have used your Change Any Fact Tag Plugin to change the EVEN-CREMATION to CREMATION. Much quicker than re-typing. THANKS!!! The above Plugin h...

Re: Repeated Fact types

Thanks David, I can see why I'm creating multiple Fact Types now but the issue is the Imported Cremation Fact doesn't link to the Standard Fact. I deleted all the Cremation Fact Types apart from the Standard Fact Type. I then clicked show hidden and there was an undefined Cremation Fact Type. I trie...

Repeated Fact types

I have some very unusual behavior that I think is a bug rather than me doing something wrong but I thought it would be worth checking here first. First thing to say is that the data has been imported from TMG. I have a "Cremation" event for a person and I wanted to change the role of one of the witn...

Showing Witness events in Summary Reports

I can see that Witness events appear in Narrative reports but I would like to see Witness Events in the persons timeline in Summary Reports.

I looked at the data reference Assistant to add the details to the Main Section of an Individual Summary Report but couldn't see any reference to Witnesses.

Re: Format Individual Summary Report Dates & Media

Thanks Arthur/Mike, I have reported the text over print as a bug to Calico. Interestingly if you use the Individual Summary Report as the basis for a web site it does word wrap the dates.

Format Individual Summary Report Dates & Media

I'm looking at the Individual Summary Report and theres a couple of things I can't sort. In the report options/Format/Format for dates if I use either Long or Compact with very long dates eg "btw 1 sep 1964 and 1 Aug 1968 (aged 11-15)" the text overprints the next column. The date column doesn't wor...

Re: Media and Where Used

Thank Bill/Mike, I can see there is many more ways to skin a cat than I could possibly use but of the many options you have given I can only get a couple working or find the options you talk about. I'm probably being particularly dense. @Bill you say "select the item in the Media Records list and th...

Media and Where Used

This is the first of a couple of questions as I use the opportunity of importing from TMG to start to a clean up of my data in FH. When I display "all Media Linked to an Individual" I can see there are some photos/scans that are linked to facts that may more appropriately attached to say Places or S...

Re: Importing from TMG v4.0

@Paul, Its a very long time since I used Version 4 of TMG and I don't recall exactly what extension the projects were but I'm fairly sure they were .pjc files. I have found the manual I had with version 5, (which is 2003.....) and the .sqz file is a backup file rather than the project file and .sqz ...

Re: TMG import following 6.0.2

@Mike, I will remind Calcio of the outstanding issues. I have checked where the Lat/Long gets placed in the FH GEDCOM and they all look like this:- 1 BURI 2 DATE AFT 11 APR 1917 2 PLAC Arras Memorial, Boulevard du General de Gaulle, Arras, France, 50.287386,2.760015 2 SOUR @S30@ 3 QUAY 3 2 OBJE @O13...

TMG import following 6.0.2

I have to say this is a major improvement and puts me in a place where I can "Go Live" with FH. I have made some checks this morning and it fixes my show stopper issues of:- some date problems, Notes "Events" not being imported, Memos within Events not coming across and the descriptions/Caption miss...

Re: Witnesses when entering Census data

@Nick, Thanks for your answer, it explains what I'm seeing. I think everybody using family history software will record things in a different way, a lot of the time, based on what the software they are using is capable of doing. Within TMG I used the Witness functionality extensively precisely for t...

Witnesses when entering Census data

Hi, This is my first time using AS so I am probably doing something wrong. I am entering a Census event and there 3 people involved, a mother and her two children. I was expecting AS to create a Census fact for the Mother with 2 witnesses, the 2 children. Instead AS created a separate Fact for each ...

Re: V6 Fails on TMG direct import

@rich. I have used this V6.0.1 for a direct import from TMG and the witnesses are there. When you look at the list of Facts for a person do you see any facts with 3 blue dots joined by two lines in the "More" column? If so go to a person where you know an event in TMG has a witness. Note the person ...

@Jim, Thanks for the pointer about sort date, I'll have a look at that. I have used the TMG Utility many times. With regard to the Place issue I did mention to Calcio when I reported this issue that if the fields are to be imported as a comma separated string then then my personal preference would b...
