Re: Media

I've had a look at the change date plug in but as I have over 9300 dates in inverted commas, all I get is a list of them from the plug in. If I try to use the PAF one it says I shouldn't use it on my original project so no help there. Isn't there a plug in that will simply change the 4 types of inve...

Re: Sources

I'm only using AS where I've a large family to record and I do believe that I've got the hang of entering the data and now saving the transcript in the correct folder. For other sources, I just use 'add a citation' in the property box for the person concerned. Usually I have a source or citation alr...

Re: Media

I've found the multi media records and the lists on the right by moving the actual media items to the right but I cannot see how to link the transcripts that are in the wrong folder into the project folder. This is not an easy program to learn especially as I'm used to FTM's way of doing things. I'm...

Sources

Where can I find all the details of the sources I've entered for a person, so that I can edit them if necessary. Also when I set up a source and enter the details in the text box, they don't appear in the actual text box in the property box, there seems little point in entering the details if I can'...

Re: Media

I was referring to the folders within my pc in 'my documents' where it shows me the FH5 projects, for some unknown reason I seem to have 2 Rosser 030714 projects called nothing and (2) within these 2 projects I found the media and when opened up found what I described previously. Sorry about not ans...

where you are

Is there a plug in for showing a note of where you were in your tree before you left it? So that you can carry on researching the family you were doing instead of starting up and just finding a list of all individuals? As one gets older one forgets at what point you left your research! :!: :?:

Re: Media

I've found them in a 'census' folder within the FH project with one for 'marriage certs' but there are more transcripts in the folders than outside them! Still I suppose as they're not lost I can delete the originals from 'my documents' folder on my pc? :?: :?:

Re: file statistics

As a relative newbie to FH5 I just want to know how many individuals are actually in my tree not a total less deleted ones. As i was adding some more people to my tree, it seemed odd that my total appeared to be going down!
Does it really matter what a person's id number is?

Is there a way of finding where I've copied them to and sending them to the project folder?

Re: Media

Ah that is where I've been going wrong, the default doesn't save to the project folder-I assumed it would do it by itself without asking.
Is there a way of finding where I've copied them to and sending them to the project folder?

file statistics

I'm confused.com! In the file statistics for my project it says I have 13687 names and similarly on my latest gedcom download. However I've just added another person and his number is 13763. Does FH5 omit some names or can't it add up? :?: :?:

Where do the copies of the censuses, certificates, etc, end up? I know I'm saving them to the relevant folders but am I duplicating them? Currently, I find a census on Ancestry and save it to 'my documents' file on the pc (can't be done with FMP as it doesn't support the save!) Then I use AS and cop...

Re: Sources for Residence

So far so good, have added some more census reports without problems. Hopefully by changing the project name, I've resolved the problem.
Thanks again for your help.
It's so difficult to learn new tricks after years of using the old ones.

Re: Sources for Residence

I've had a look at file statistics-it says my file is: File Name: C:\Users\John\Documents\Family Historian Projects\Rosser 030714\Rosser 030714.fh_data\Rosser 030714.ged How does it get to have so many Rosser names in it? And how to get rid of the initial ones? I renamed it Rosser 030714 but it stil...

I've obviously started on the wrong foot. Is it possible to uninstall FH5 and reinstall it and reload the saved gedcom from today as my only project? :?:

I see also that I've several gedcom files that must now be out dated-how can I delete them? :?:

Re: Sources for Residence

Recently been using AS for censuses and everything works fine until I try to save the info. It then says that my file name exceeds 248 characters despite the fact that I make up my own file name! It won't let me amend it and says it's already been set up, no matter what I do I can't change the file ...

Unfortunately I started on my main file but I was pleased with the results and the AS system works well.
However I had to download the original AS file after your one-can I re download your plug in? Currently the AS file is on my desktop.

Re: Sources for Residence

Thank you Mike for all the info. Looks like you're the author of the plug in for AS so should be good. In the video guide it starts with doing things to the 'sample project' but not about my own project-presumably this is the same? I don't want to lose my precious research by doing something wrong i...
