Attached screen shot which is better than some I've seen!
Also when I log into fmp on fh, it doesn't remember it for the next time!

Find My Past pale hints
Sometimes their hints appear but are hardly readable-is there any reason for this? I have a sub to FMP so really shouldn't be a membership problem.

Re: holding names
Yes Mike I've been doing exactly that but sometimes when I return to the Individual records window, I find the filter blank and the records start again with A? This doesn't happen all the time, it seems to depend on how long I spend researching/updating the name.

Is there a way of researching a name via the Individual Records and when you've finished updating that record and the family if one, to go back to the Individual's Record and see the next one in alphabetical order in the list instead of re inputting the surname again?

Re: autofill places
Had a reply from Martin as follows: As far I know, the auto-completion processing has not been touched since it was first written. Yes you may have found changes in the way it works in practice, between versions, but if so, these are a knock-on consequence of other changes and not a result of change...

Re: autofill places
This is what I replied: Hi Martin, Now you know the problem I and other FH users are having. Can you tell me how the Place auto-completion process works now compared to earlier versions of FH. Is our perception correct that it is now 'alphabetic' rather than 'most used' or 'most recently used'? Can...

Re: autofill places
Had another reply from Martin at Calico Pie as follows:
OK sorry. But there is no country-bias in auto-filling with place names. What you are seeing must be just chance.
So what can we do about that?

Re: autofill places
Had a reply from Calico Pie regarding above, they said: We're puzzled by this. FH does take into account your current location, but it gets its information about your location from Windows. Is it possible that Windows thinks your PC is an American PC? In any case, you can solve the problem within FH...

Anyone else noticed that since the update when researching individuals in a family name, you can't go back to the original surname but get sent to the a-z names?

Re: Scottish censuses
Thank you very much for putting me straight, now I've found the template download all should be well. Adrian, FMP made a dogs breakfast of the search facility when they took over the site from the previous owners so it's hardly surprising that they messed up the census refs! Neither Ancestry nor FMP...

We need an additional plug in for the above as the ref id's are different to the standard ones for the UK; also there are no images for them on Ancestry or FMP so cannot save an image?

autofill places
I've noticed since downloading the upgrade to FH6 that when I type in a place that it auto fills by default to American places whereas most of my places are in the UK-is there a way of changing the default?

Re: program crashed!
At the time AS crashed FH, I was closing it to save Alfred W Shearman's 1939 register to FH6 which it didn't do. Attached the validation report and log which only found 2 errors on media but I could find nothing wrong with Nellie's record. As to living persons, there aren't usually any confidential ...

Thank you once again.
Do you know why the original AS crashed my program that caused all this trouble to us both or will Nick be able to sort it out when he sees my old ged file?
John

Re: program crashed!
Have followed your instructions step by step and now have 2 Rosser projects and the sample one in the window. Should I use the new one which I've given today's date to or continue with the year 14 one? Have put the old ged into zip and is attached. I notice that I've still got an old ged file as wel...

Re: program crashed!
Yes I can use all the commands now as you said and the snapshots are there too for 9th March onwards-does it just keep the last 10 days? Don't really understand Knowledge Base-Project Structures, feels like legal mumble jumble to the non technical eye! What shall I do with the old.ged and how should...

Re: program crashed!
It's very complicated isn't it? Anyway I've changed it and both projects are now shown in the window. I have no idea how it became changed to J. Thank you very much for your patience and help to this technophobe. I always recommend FH6 to my research colleagues and the work that you do in the forum....
